Chapter Text
The silk floral curtains gently danced by the rhythm of the wind passing through the opened window, carrying the musk scent of morning dew and the sweet aroma of blossomed acacia trees, reaching to her pillow pulling her up from her peaceful slumber. As she has a better grip on reality, with a small yawn her hands, almost clumsily so, cupped gently over her eyelids before pushing herself up from the cloud-like blankets.
The cool air of the spring morning gently bit her skin as the covers slipped away from her body. Shortly, her feet made contact with the cold wooden floor, making her flinch slightly and with hurried steps moved towards the double hung windows and closes it with a soft click. Stepping out of her bedroom, she started to be more familiar with her surroundings โ the sweet musk of morning dew and the quiet songs of morning doves slowly thins out replaced by a strong scent vanilla, flour and coffee, the timbre being now silent, only the hum of the fridge breaking the silence.ย
The soft paddling sound of her feet mixes with the atmosphere as she descends the dark wooden stairs. Reaching to the kitchen, she notices that it's empty โ her parents nowhere to be seen. Her gaze averts to the wall clock; 9:30AM. Her parents usually were home at this hour. With a sleepy hum she walks closer to the fridge, rounding the corner of the small dinning table, and reads the small note attached on the refrigerator, squinting her eyes a little

ย 'Me and your father will be out town for a few hours. I made pancakes, they're in the fridge!ย
- Love, mom'

She read the note a few times, her vision still slightly blurry from the haze of sleep then a relieved sigh escapes her lips. Anyway, after eating three pancakes or so, plain without any maple syrup this time, she's now washing the plate and fork she ate with. The warm water from the faucet made her mushy a little, feeling dragged by the realm of sleep once again but the warm, cozy haze is cut by the piercing sound of the old doorbell.
With a small startled grunt she quickly wipes her hands with a kitchen towel and walks to the front door, gently opens it, revealing the person behind it. It's the mailman, Jamie. Holding a big box in his arms, his hands shaking a little before gently setting it down with a small relieved shaky sigh.
"...Package for Mrs. Delmore?" The young man finally spoke after catching his breath, one of his hands reaching up to adjust the postman cap.ย
"Uh, yeah- that's for my mom" She hums as he hands her the electronic touchscreen tablet to confirm the package, and with a small smile from Jamie he mutters a 'thank you' and desceds the wide platform of the porch, the floorboards shifting slightly from his weight.
Jamie is a very passionate and dramatic man. They exchanged small convos before whenever he had to deliver some packages for her mother; he told her once that he's thinking of applying to a local theater for a role to town play in 'Historical Friction'. He didn't spoke about it for months, but she guessed that his audition was a success, he rarely shows with packages or newspaper โ Barbara, Sadie's mother, apparently took his place.ย
With a muffled grunt she crouches down for the package, her hands holding the sides firmly and starts dragging the box inside.ย
