Will You Forgive Me? (Rest in Peace, SpokeIsHere, We hardly knew You.)

Summary:

Episode 98; "My Best Friend Died on the Unstable SMP" (the scene between Spoke and Parrot's confrontation on the Capital City Tower) but with a twist.

Notes:

Hi. So, to be honest, this is my first finished fanfic (that I'm gonna post), so please take note of these tidbits:

- I am not really a great writer. I prefer visual arts instead of textual; so please excuse any of my grammatical, spelling, or storytelling errors.
- Parts that are italicized are usually Spoke or Parrot's thoughts, but I also italicized important factors in the story (e.g: "Mapicc").
- The use of an ellipsis (between lines) usually means a perspective change; or a dramatical pause.

Thanks for reading the notes, hope you enjoy! <3

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Spoke was doing it, he really was. He never thought he’d get this far. He doesn't want to nuke Capital City but.. For Mapicc… To get Mapicc back, he would. I mean.. Who wouldn’t bomb an entire city for their Best Friend?

Spoke stood above the Capital City Tower. He made a contraption with stacks over stacks over stacks of TNT on each side of the tower. This would be enough.. Right..? Not only that, but SpokeIsHere had littered TNT all over the city. Every road had TNT following one another, and it was guaranteed that the entire city would be put up in flames once he pulls the trigger.

To be frank, Spoke was trembling badly atop the machine. He didn’t want to do this. But he didn’t want to lose his best friend either. Spoke was desperate, So, so desperate to bring Mapicc back.

Hell! Even just a hint of him. If he’s alive— or…

Fuck.

Mapicc is dead.

No–, no he can’t be…

Lettuce is gonna.. He’s gonna send someone to give him back…

Or–or, maybe he’s just waiting at our base.

Maybe he’s looking for me right now..!

Are they really gonna send someone–-

Spoke’s overthinking was abruptly put to a halt. He heard something… Someone.

“They’re all destroyed. All four of them.” A soft spoken voice suddenly appeared in the midst of Spoke’s thoughts.

That voice…

Spoke slowly turned back, expecting to see some law soldier, Deputy_Ace again, hell, even Leo. He wasn’t at all expecting his old friend, ParrotX2 to come.

Why did they send Parrot? Why him of all people? Wasn’t he against Lettuce?

Parrot stood above the redstone machine, destroying some of the redstone poured above it, then turning to stare down at Spoke.

“Ha– You..? They sent you?” Spoke’s voice was shaking– not only from shock, but confusion. Spoke slowly walked up the machine, walking towards Parrot to break the redstone and some of the stone holding up the machine.

“What do you think.. Pfft—.. You think breaking some redstone’s gonna fix this..?” Spoke’s luminous, wide, eyes stared at Parrot, tilting his head a little whilst speaking. Parrot looked back at him, in a concerned manner.

“Did you.. Did you bring anyone..? Is– is anyone with you—”

 “Spoke, please.”

“Parrot, tell me, did you bring Mapicc..?” It stung to even say his name. God, where could he have possibly gone? Spoke abruptly stopped his staring, turning to fix some of the redstone Parrot had broken.

Parrot noticed, he easily noticed, I mean.. Why wouldn’t he? Spoke was shaking, his voice cracked, and he obviously was in despair. His body language told a far different story than his actions right now. He knew Spoke wasn’t doing this with malicious intent, he knew that Spoke wouldn’t just bomb an entire city, the home to half of the server– hell, his own home– for no reason!

Would he?

“I don’t know why they sent you. I don’t know why you’re here, Parrot. Did you not get my message..? Did you– Did you not see what happened?” Spoke nodded whilst speaking, trying to put the pieces together to try and gain any sort of understanding of why Parrot was sent to… To give back Mapicc.

“I came here on my own. What do you mean ‘they sent me’?” Parrot was clearly confused himself, unknowing to what Spoke had gone through. But it was obvious he needed help. A lot of it.

So, Parrot chose the path he usually follows.

He tried getting Spoke to understand the severity of the situation. “Spoke. You’re about to blow up the home of hundreds of players– This is my home too.” Parrot started speaking more desperately to convey the message.

“Look, Spoke, I don’t know what led you to this situation in this.. state.” Parrot’s eyes narrowed. Spoke’s state seemed so horrible, his hair was messed up, his eyes were wide—not in joy, but in despair, and his entire body was shaking. He was holding onto his fishing rod so tight, to the point his usual black skin seemed rather white.

“They killed him. They killed my friend.” Spoke was too exhausted to lie, to manipulate, to do anything. He just wanted Mapicc back.

“They– He’s not with you?.. I asked them to– I asked them to bring him to me. I asked them to show that he’s alive, even if he’s imprisoned or something..!” Spoke’s voice began to grow frantic, his mind rumbling about scenarios of what could’ve happened to Mapicc.

“Atleast– That’s what I was hoping for..! Do you think I want to blow this place up– I-I don’t–”

“But what good will it give to you..!?

By this point, Spoke was spiraling so badly he sobbed in between sentences, and his voice was trembling badly.

To be honest, what Parrot said was true… Spoke couldn’t deny that. Should he just stop? Was this all not worth it..?

“No. Parrot– This.. This is nothing compared to EVERYTHING they’ve done for months, on end…! I don’t have a home anymore– I don't have a FRIEND anymore!” Spoke ignored it, trying to drown out what Parrot said with the thought of Mapicc coming back.

Excuses. That was all Spoke had. There was no good justification to why he was doing this. To ruin and destroy the homes of hundreds of people– including Parrot’s own home.

But he couldn’t stop. Not yet. He’s gone so far– so, so far. Mapicc isn’t back yet. His home wasn't rebuilt yet, he was still a fugitive, and Leo would still kill him if he got the chance.

Spoke wouldn’t let him get that chance. “It’s all ready to go, Parrot… Do you– Do you wanna watch..?” Spoke asked, his voice frail, cracking every so often.

“Spoke. You can’t… If you do this—“

“Parrot..! You don’t understand— If I were to kill your closest friends, maybe you’d understand how I feel right now..!”

Spoke was getting aggressive. You couldn’t blame him, though. Spoke doesn’t know nearly as much as what happened to Wifies, Dean, Nufuli, Boomie, he doesn’t know a thing.

“Well, in theory, you’re right.. But all the people you’re probably thinking about right now are dead. Spoke, I’ve been on the server as long as you, I've been through as much as you have. What even happened?”

Parrot was right. Parrot had been on the server for as long as he had, and he’s gone through a lot. Even Spoke himself had contributed to some of his misery.

“I–Mapicc left my bunker..Then–then I set up an ender pearl stasis for him, but when I pulled it, he appeared for a split second– but then he disappeared. I don’t– I don’t know where he went. You know what I also saw today, though..? Leow0ok. I saw Leow0ok in my bunker. He impersonated Mapicc, and– and- I thought it was Mapicc. I truly thought it was him.”

Spoke backtracked towards what bad happened. Whilst he was speaking he himself was thinking about what had happened to Mapicc. Who was he talking to when he was teleported? That was the main mystery aboard this crisis. That was the main prompt that would grant the answer towards where Mapicc was.

Parrot himself was confused. Where did Mapicc go? Were there any hints left behind by anyone? Did Mapicc leave anything..? No one knew the answer towards what happened to Mapicc. He had seriously just vanished, and dragged along Spoke’s mental health with him.

Speaking about his mental health, Spoke was obviously getting worse– he was shuddering frequently, he seemed to repeatedly disassociate; his eyes going blank, staring at a random part of the redstone on the floor.

Parrot’s mind was blank, aswell. He couldn't think of anything, Spoke hadn’t given enough information– or, there had been such a small amount of hints of how Mapicc had gone missing or, even, when.

I need to do it.

I don’t care.

I need to pull it.

Mapicc is dead. Mapicc is nowhere, and I don’t know if I’ll ever see him again.

If I’m going down…

I’ll bring this server with me.

Without warning, Spoke turned around, and swiftly pressed the button. The button that held the entire city in its favor.

A loud, hissing noise could be heard. A few seconds later, hundreds of TNT shot out of each and every dispenser. Parrot barely had any time to process what Spoke had done, but Spoke was already recklessly sprinting for the next cannon.

Parrot chased after Spoke, bargaining– no– trying to rationalize what Spoke had just done. Maybe Parrot was also trying to get him to stop. Spoke really didn’t have the capacity to listen. Not anymore. Not after knowing his best friend is gone.

“SPOKE! What have you–” Spoke kept running, he clicked on the second cannon’s button, and more hissing bled into both Parrot and Spoke’s ears. More TNT sprayed out of every dispenser, flying around every corner of the city in that direction. It also set off the TNT that was littered on the streets. Tears sprayed out of Spoke’s eyes, he was hyperventilating whilst running, he knew he was too deep into this. He really dug a hole he couldn't claw out of.

At the last, fourth machine, once he pressed the button, Spoke collapsed. He fell to the floor, on his knees. He couldn’t keep going. Spoke couldn’t– What did I do..? Why did I…? Spoke’s thinking was abruptly halted, once more, from the same man who he had once, twice, continuously, manipulated. If Spoke hadn’t done this then– then maybe Parrot still would’ve forgiven him.

But this time, Parrot’s reaction was very, very different. Instead of Parrot holding out a hand to lend him up, to bring him up and support his actions, Parrot held a weapon. He had his sword, unsheathed, ready and stanced. Parrot wouldn’t forgive him, not this time. His, and hundreds of other’s homes are gone. All that's left is a crater. A large crater with leftover wood littered around.

It was– It was beautiful. The sight of destruction, the feeling of finally being the one who destroys something, instead of being the one who was pursued, the victim of destruction. It was great. Spoke had missed this. The feeling of being triumphant, the feeling of finally committing to his words.

His thoughts were cut short from the cold, sharp feeling of a blade pressed on his neck. There’s no way… Parrot was really gonna kill him– Parrot wasn’t just gonna forgive him again. Even with Parrot’s position; Parrot wasn't necessarily aggressive. He stood– eyes wide, frantically searching in the crowd of stone far, far below him for his own home.

Parrot was in denial. Spoke had really done it, hadn’t he..? Spoke finally didn’t feel alone. He dragged his old friend, and hundreds of other players down with him. But, instead of a wave of triumph, all Spoke felt was guilt.

He heard the silent sobs of Parrot, even whilst Parrot held a sword to his throat. Spoke, himself, still had tears slowly sliding down his cheeks, sometimes unintentionally hiccuping. Was this worth it? He didn’t feel anything. He felt so numb. What did he do? Why did he go through with this? What good did it do?

I really just– I’ve finally done it…

I just bombed an entire city for a friend that may not even be dead.

Even with a person so.. kind, I've sinned so heavily even Parrot refused to forgive me.

I ruin everything. I always do..!

Everything I touch– everything I care for, all I do is slowly feed into its death. That’s the only “good” I bring.

That is all Spoke will ever bring.

So, what’s the point..?

Truly.

If all I could provide was despair, what was the point of him being alive?

I don’t bring anything to the server except havoc.

I will never unite the players and obtain peace within the server.

Spoke was, and never will be a good leader, because everyone knows said group will fall, one way or another.

Spoke will never be a good friend. He will sabotage the other person, and he shall ruin all remaining ties he has, one by one.

Spoke will never be a good person.

There’s no point. I am no good person, I am irredeemable and there is no true point anymore.

I couldn’t even protect Mapicc… I couldn’t hold onto him tight enough to keep him safe, and he certainly couldn’t gear him up enough to run back.

I’m gonna do it.

Impulsively, Spoke moved. He pushed past Parrot's barricades– He pushed past his blade.

Before Parrot could even react, Spoke was already 1 block away from the fall. Abruptly, Spoke turned around, dropped his boots, gave Parrot one last tear-streaked glare, then jumped.

Will you forgive me?”

…Those were the last words Spoke muttered before falling. The last words before all Spoke felt was the rushing in his ears, the floor flying up towards him, or maybe the other way around— he didn’t really care enough to think. Spoke’s stomach dropped, his head staring at the floor that was rapidly coming up. Or was it..? It seemed pretty slow… Was he really gonna die? Did he forget to take off his feather falling boots..? ..Whatever. Spoke wasn’t gonna think much about it. He would never have the chance to think about it again, anyways.

Spoke didn’t know if he’d regretted jumping— or- or if he was enjoying it, the feeling of being weightless or the wind rushing through his ears. Spoke didn’t want to die— but he didn’t want to live without Mapicc. He didn’t want to live without his best friend— the same best friend that he had spent so much time with; the same Mapicc he had fought the mafia with, and the same Mapicc that stuck around with him the entire server.

But what if he was still alive..? Just somewhere else. Somewhere far, far away from spawn, from BAT, from Law, from everyone and everything.

Spoke didn’t want to die. He didn’t. He wanted to prepare, kill Leo, then live a happy life with Mapicc..! How do I go back? I don’t want to do this!!– How do I–

SpokeIsHere fell from a high place.

Notes:

Please don't kill me, I know it's bad.
