Mistletoe- ToruMina

Summary:

Mina and Toru kiss under the mistletoe

Work Text:

Class 1-A’s dorm common room had been completely taken over.

Lights hung across the ceiling.

Garlands wrapped around the balcony railings.

Someone had dragged a Christmas tree into the corner and decorated it with an alarming amount of glitter.

Music blasted from the speakers while half the class crowded around the snack table.

And in the middle of the room Mina Ashido was dancing like the party depended on it.

“COME ON!” she shouted.

Kaminari stumbled behind her.

“I can’t keep up!”

“You absolutely can!”

Across the room, Kirishima laughed.

“Dude you’re losing!”

Sero leaned over the couch.

“Ten bucks Kaminari falls over.”

On the couch itself, Bakugo scowled at everyone equally.

Near the snack table. A pair of floating gloves grabbed a cookie.

“Okay these are actually amazing,”

Hagakure said happily.

Mina slid across the floor and stopped beside her.

“Toru!”

Hagakure waved her invisible hands.

“Mina!”

Mina grabbed a drink and leaned against the table.

“This party rules.”

Hagakure nodded enthusiastically.

“Best one we’ve had yet.”

Mina looked around the room proudly.

“Obviously.”

Hagakure laughed.

“You say that like you planned it.”

“I basically did.”

“You just brought the music.”

“That’s planning.”

Hagakure giggled.

Across the room, Midoriya was deep in conversation with Iida while Uraraka listened.

Todoroki stood nearby quietly sipping punch.

Sero and Kirishima were now debating cookie quality.

Everything felt loud, warm, chaotic.

Mina stretched her arms.

“Man I love parties.”

Hagakure leaned against the counter beside her.

“You love chaos.”

“Same thing.”

Hagakure giggled again.

Then her floating glove suddenly pointed upward.

“…Oh.”

Mina followed the gesture.

Above the hallway doorway, hung a sprig of mistletoe tied with a red ribbon.

Mina’s grin appeared instantly.

“Oh that is dangerous.”

Hagakure snorted.

“Very.”

They both watched the doorway.

Sero walked under it.

Nothing happened.

Kirishima walked under it.

Nothing happened.

Hagakure laughed.

“They don’t even notice.”

Mina leaned forward slightly.

“…Cowards.”

Hagakure tilted her invisible head.

“You’re thinking something.”

Mina smirked.

“Obviously.”

Hagakure leaned closer.

“…What.”

Mina gestured toward the doorway.

“That.”

Hagakure giggled.

“You want to start trouble.”

Mina grinned.

“I want to start tradition.”

Hagakure laughed louder.

“You are absolutely going to bully someone into that.”

Mina shrugged.

“If they’re under it they can’t escape.”

Hagakure tilted her head again.

“…You’re evil.”

“Festive.”

Hagakure giggled again.

They both kept watching the doorway.

Then Mina slowly looked back at

Hagakure.

“…Wait.”

Hagakure tilted her head.

“What?”

Mina pointed upward.

“…We are literally standing under it.”

Hagakure froze.

“…Oh.”

Both of them looked up.

Then back at each other.

Then both burst into laughter.

“Oh this is hilarious,” Hagakure said.

Mina grinned.

“Well.”

Hagakure leaned slightly closer.

“Well.”

Across the room, Sero suddenly noticed.

“…Yo.”

Kirishima followed his gaze.

“Oh man.”

Kaminari gasped.

“NO WAY.”

Several heads turned toward the doorway.

And suddenly Class 1-A had a new source of entertainment.

Half the room was staring.

Mina blinked.

“…Why is everyone looking at us?”

Sero pointed dramatically toward the doorway.

“You two wanna check your location?”

Mina glanced upward.

Then grinned.

“Oh.”

Kirishima slapped the couch.

“No way!”

Kaminari jumped to his feet.

“MISTLETOE!”

Hagakure covered her invisible mouth, laughing.

“Oh no.”

Mina crossed her arms proudly.

“What.”

Sero leaned forward like a sports commentator.

“Well well well.”

Kaminari clapped loudly.

“YOU KNOW THE RULE.”

Hagakure giggled again.

“You guys are awful.”

Kirishima pointed upward.

“You’re under it!”

Mina shrugged.

“Yeah?”

Kaminari’s eyes sparkled.

“…So kiss.”

Mina tilted her head.

“You’re awfully invested in this.”

Sero grinned.

“This is the most interesting thing happening tonight.”

Bakugo muttered from the couch without looking up.

“Extras.”

Kirishima laughed.

“Come on Mina!”

Kaminari leaned toward the doorway.

“This is legally binding.”

Hagakure leaned toward Mina.

“…We could run.”

Mina smirked.

“Why would we?”

Hagakure laughed.

“You’re not backing down.”

“Absolutely not.”

Sero slammed his hand on the table.

“DO IT.”

Kaminari joined in.

“KISS! KISS! KISS!”

Within seconds, half the room had joined the chant.

“KISS! KISS! KISS!”

Uraraka laughed nervously.

“Guys maybe don’t pressure-”

Jiro smirked.

“No no let’s see where this goes.”

Midoriya turned bright red.

“I think we should respect their personal-”

Kaminari pointed at him.

“You’re not helping.”

Hagakure laughed harder.

“This is a nightmare.”

Mina leaned casually against the doorway.

“You’re loving it.”

“Maybe a little.”

Sero pointed dramatically.

“No backing out!”

Kirishima pumped a fist.

“BE A HERO!”

Bakugo muttered again from the couch.

“Idiots.”

Mina tilted her head toward Hagakure.

“…So.”

Hagakure leaned closer.

“…So.”

The chanting continued.

“KISS! KISS! KISS!”

Mina smirked.

“You scared?”

Hagakure laughed.

“You wish.”

Mina stepped a little closer.

“Well?”

Hagakure leaned in slightly.

“Well?”

Across the room. The chanting grew louder. And suddenly… This had turned into the most intense moment of the entire party.

“KISS! KISS! KISS!”

The chant had taken over the room.

Sero was leading it like a stadium crowd.

Kirishima was clapping in rhythm.

Kaminari had somehow climbed onto the arm of the couch to get a better view.

Even Jiro looked entertained.

Midoriya had gone completely red.

And in the doorway Mina and Hagakure were still standing under the mistletoe.

Hagakure leaned toward Mina slightly.

“…This got out of hand.”

Mina smirked.

“Did it?”

The chanting grew louder.

“KISS! KISS! KISS!”

Hagakure laughed.

“They’re not stopping.”

“Nope.”

“Maybe we should run.”

Mina tilted her head.

“…Why would we?”

Hagakure paused.

“…You’re serious.”

Mina shrugged.

“You’re the one who said they were cowards earlier.”

Hagakure giggled.

“That was about Sero.”

“Still applies.”

Across the room Kaminari cupped his hands around his mouth.

“ASHIDO!”

Mina looked over.

“What.”

“You gonna back down?!”

Mina laughed.

“From you?”

Kirishima pumped a fist.

“That’s the spirit!”

Bakugo groaned from the couch.

“Shut up.”

Hagakure leaned closer again.

“…You’re absolutely going to do this.”

Mina smirked.

“You doubting me?”

Hagakure laughed.

“Never.”

The chanting continued.

“KISS! KISS! KISS!”

Mina rolled her eyes.

“Okay wow they’re really committed.”

Hagakure tilted her invisible head.

“…You could shut them up.”

Mina looked back at her.

“…Oh?”

Hagakure giggled.

“Just saying.”

Mina took one step closer.

The chanting got louder immediately.

“KISS! KISS! KISS!”

Hagakure leaned forward too.

“Well?”

Mina grinned.

“You first.”

Hagakure laughed.

“Oh no.”

Mina raised an eyebrow.

“Scared?”

“Please.”

Mina shrugged.

“Okay then.”

And without another word. She leaned forward and kissed her. Quick. Confident.

Exactly the kind of impulsive move Mina was known for.

Across the room. The entire class exploded.

“OOOOOOOOOOOH!”

Kirishima slammed the couch.

“YES!”

Kaminari jumped up and down.

“THAT WAS AWESOME!”

Midoriya looked like he might pass out.

Jiro laughed.

“I knew it.”

Even Uraraka clapped.

Hagakure pulled back, laughing.

“…Wow.”

Mina grinned.

“Told you.”

Hagakure leaned forward again
suddenly and kissed her back.

Longer this time.

The room erupted again.

“OH COME ON!”

Sero collapsed onto the couch laughing.
Kirishima pumped both fists.

“DOUBLE CONFIRMATION!”

Bakugo groaned louder.

“Idiots.”

When Hagakure pulled away again, she was still giggling.

“…Okay that was fun.”

Mina shrugged casually.

“See?”

Kaminari shouted across the room.

“BEST PARTY EVER.”

Jiro nodded.

“Agreed.”

Hagakure leaned toward Mina again.

“…We definitely started something.”

Mina grinned.

“Worth it.”

And above the doorway. The mistletoe swayed proudly.

Doing its job perfectly.

The cheering eventually died down.

Mostly because Aizawa opened the door to the common room, took one look at the chaos, and said:

“Keep it down.”

Then walked away again.

For about ten seconds, the room was quiet.

Then Kaminari burst out laughing.

“That was AMAZING.”

Sero collapsed back into the couch cushions.

“I told you this party would get good.”

Kirishima pointed toward the doorway.

“Hero move, Ashido.”

Mina leaned casually against the doorframe like she hadn’t just caused a scene.

“Obviously.”

Beside her, Hagakure giggled again.

“…That escalated fast.”

Mina shrugged.

“They started it.”

Kaminari pointed accusingly.

“You absolutely started it.”

Jiro smirked from the snack table.

“And finished it.”

Midoriya still looked flustered.

“I think everyone should maybe calm down-”

Sero cut him off.

“Dude they kissed twice.”

Midoriya turned red again.

“R-right.”

Uraraka laughed softly.

“Honestly I think it was cute.”

Kirishima nodded immediately.

“Very manly.”

Mina snorted.

“I don’t think that word applies here.”

Kirishima shrugged.

“Still counts.”

Bakugo muttered something under his breath from the couch.

Hagakure leaned toward Mina slightly.

“…You realize this is going to be a thing now.”

Mina glanced sideways.

“What.”

Hagakure giggled.

“You know.”

Mina blinked.

“…Oh.”

Kaminari leaned forward dramatically.

“Oh yeah.”

Sero grinned.

“100%.”

Mina pointed at them.

“You two are banned from commentary.”

Kirishima laughed.

“Too late!”

Jiro raised her drink slightly.

“To mistletoe chaos.”

Several people cheered.

Even Uraraka joined in.

Hagakure leaned closer to Mina again.

“…You didn’t hesitate at all.”

Mina grinned.

“You looked like you were having fun.”

“…I was.”

Mina tilted her head.

“Then no regrets.”

Hagakure laughed.

“None.”

Across the room Kaminari suddenly pointed toward the doorway again.

“…Wait.”

Everyone looked up.

The mistletoe was still hanging there.

Sero grinned.

“Round two.”

Mina immediately grabbed Hagakure’s hand.

“Oh absolutely not.”

Hagakure laughed as Mina pulled her away.

“You started this!”

“Exactly!”

Kirishima shouted after them.

“YOU CAN’T ESCAPE TRADITION!”

Bakugo groaned louder.

“Shut up.”

Mina and Hagakure reached the center of the room again, both still laughing.

Hagakure leaned closer.

“…You know they’re going to try again.”

Mina shrugged.

“Let them.”

Hagakure tilted her invisible head.

“…You’re not worried.”

Mina grinned.

“Nah.”

She nudged Hagakure’s shoulder playfully.

“If we end up under it again…”

Hagakure giggled.

“…Yeah?”

Mina winked.

“Worth it.”

And above the doorway. The mistletoe swayed gently.

Ready for round two.

The party kept going. Music played.
Snacks disappeared at an alarming rate.

Kaminari had started a terrible karaoke session that Jiro alternated between encouraging and threatening to unplug.
Sero and Kirishima were debating whether mistletoe counted as a “binding contract.”

Bakugo had moved to a different couch purely so he could scowl in peace.

And somewhere in the middle of it all Mina and Hagakure had managed to escape the doorway.

For about twenty minutes.

Hagakure leaned against the snack table, sipping punch.

“…Okay.”

Mina grabbed another cookie.

“What.”

“That might have been the most chaotic moment this class has had all month.”

Mina grinned.

“Only this month?”

Hagakure giggled.

“Fair point.”

Across the room Kaminari shouted into the microphone.

“I WILL NOW SING MY HEART OUT.”

Jiro unplugged the speakers immediately.

“No you won’t.”

Sero pointed across the room.

“Tragic.”

Kirishima nodded solemnly.

“Absolutely tragic.”

Mina laughed.

“This party rules.”

Hagakure leaned closer.

“…You really didn’t hesitate.”

Mina shrugged.

“I don’t overthink stuff.”

“Clearly.”

They both laughed again.

Then Sero’s voice suddenly cut across the room.

“HEY.”

Everyone looked over.

Sero pointed dramatically toward the hallway.

“…Round two.”

Mina froze.

“…What.”

Kirishima leaned forward.

“You two forgot something.”

Kaminari jumped off the couch again.

“THE RULE.”

Hagakure slowly turned toward the doorway.

The mistletoe still hung there. Untouched. Waiting.

Mina groaned.

“Oh my god.”

Sero grinned.

“You can’t dodge it forever.”

Kaminari nodded eagerly.

“It’s tradition.”

Mina pointed accusingly.

“You guys are obsessed.”

Jiro leaned back in her chair.

“They kinda have a point.”

Midoriya looked nervous again.

“I think maybe we should let them-”

Sero cut him off immediately.

“Nope.”

Kirishima pointed toward the doorway again.

“GO.”

Mina sighed dramatically.

“…Fine.”

She grabbed Hagakure’s hand again.

Hagakure laughed.

“You’re actually doing this.”

Mina started walking toward the doorway.

“If we don’t they’ll never shut up.”

Sero pumped his fist.

“YES.”

The class immediately followed behind them like spectators at a sporting event.

Mina stopped under the doorway.

Looked up.

“…There.”

Hagakure stood beside her.

Also looking up.

“…Still there.”

Kaminari cupped his hands.

“YOU KNOW THE RULE.”

Mina rolled her eyes.

“We literally did it already.”

Sero grinned.

“Best two out of three.”

Kirishima nodded enthusiastically.

“That’s fair.”

Bakugo groaned again.

“I hate this class.”

Mina looked sideways at Hagakure.

“…You ready.”

Hagakure giggled.

“Always.”

Mina leaned forward again.

And kissed her. Quick. Confident.

The class erupted again.

“YOOOOOO!”

Kirishima punched the air.

“THREE FOR THREE!”

Kaminari collapsed onto the couch laughing.

“THIS IS AMAZING.”

Hagakure leaned forward again and kissed Mina back.

Just as confidently.

Sero clutched his chest.

“THEY’RE UNSTOPPABLE.”

Jiro laughed.

“I think we created a monster.”

Mina stepped back again, grinning.

“Told you.”

Hagakure giggled.

“…Yeah.”

The class continued cheering.

The mistletoe swayed happily.

Its work for the evening officially complete.
