Summary
Ilya watches Shane pause where he’s scratching dried nail polish off his steering wheel. It must’ve happened last week when he convinced Shane to go into the convenience store for him and finally bite the bullet. He then spent the next half hour meticulously painting the black polish onto Ilya’s fingernails with a hand so steady Ilya thought he might faint. Shane Hollander might be a hologram as far as he’s concerned.
Shane just looks at Ilya, deadpan. It’s the type of look that suggests he’s second-guessing everything that’s happened between them the last couple of weeks. “Ilya, we’ve kissed about a hundred times–and that’s being generous.”
Ilya rolls his eyes and gestures between them like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“I know, but none of those were real. I mean, a few of them were. But I want this kiss to matter. I want us to have a real first kiss.”
