Notes:

Part 2 is here! It’s short and sweet, and I loved writing it, so I hope you enjoy!

Anyone who finds this and reads part 1 should know that part 1 is pretty angsty and the tags should be heeded, but this is not a stand alone.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: New Sensations

Chapter Text

October 9, 2023

Rain was sitting on the edge of the bathtub with a cold wash cloth on the back of his neck. He blew out a breath as his stomach roiled. He was trying to keep himself from throwing up again. When his stomach clenched, he dropped onto the tile in front of the toilet, gagging as his body tried to purge out whatever was in his stomach. He groaned as he spit the bile out of his mouth.

“P’Phayu!” Rain called out, feeling worried about his nausea.

The Alpha came into the bathroom and when he saw how pale Rain was, he knelt down in front of him. “What’s wrong?” Phayu asked, hands quickly moving over Rain’s face to check for a fever.

Rain shook his head. “I don’t know. I’ve been throwing up every day for the last couple days. It usually passes after a few minutes, but it won’t go away today. I feel so gross. What should we do?” Rain asked as he moved back to the edge of the bathtub.

Phayu brushed the hair from Rain’s sweaty forehead. “I can take you to the clinic, but there is something else that comes to mind.”

“What?” Rain asked, rubbing his cheek against Phayu’s palm, feeling soothed by his Alpha’s presence.

“A pregnancy test.” Phayu replied quietly.

“A pregn…” Rain paused and blinked. “Pregnancy test? Are you sure? We haven’t even had sex that often.”

“I hate to ask, but I need to.” Phayu said as he moved to sit beside Rain on the edge of the tub. “Did you ever experience nausea or vomiting when you were pregnant before?”

The Omega shook his head. “No, but I doubt it ever went long enough for me to have symptoms. The most the doctor ever said was that I managed to get to three weeks one time. Is it really possible?”

“Well, there’s been a couple times that the condom tore, so yes. We were quick to get cleaned up, but maybe not quick enough. Are you ok?”

Rain sat quietly for a moment. “I think so. We’ve talked about it and I do want a family with you. I just didn’t think it would happen that quickly. Do we even have a test?”

Phayu nodded. “Yes, once you felt ready for us to get intimate, I bought a couple, just in case. I didn’t expect to use one so soon either. It could still be negative, and if it is we’ll go to the clinic. If it’s positive, we make an appointment with an obstetrician.”

Rain drew in a breath. “Well, I should probably drink some water so that I can pee again soon. I don’t have to right now, I had just finished washing my hands when I suddenly had to puke. I should also brush my teeth, my mouth tastes gross.”

“Give me a second, I’ll go get you some tea. Do you have any requests?”

“That strong mint tea I like. Thank you.”

Phayu kissed his forehead. “Of course, darling. You just sit there until you feel like you can move, ok?”

Rain nodded and stood up, moving to the sink and quickly brushing his teeth and tongue. After he sat back down, he pulled the cloth from his neck, leaning over to the bathtub taps and turned on the cold water. After wringing out the excess water, he put the wash cloth back and closed his eyes, focusing on his breathing.

Rain jumped slightly when a gentle hand touched his shoulder. He looked up and smiled.

“Thank you, Phi.”

The Alpha sat down again. “Of course, if nothing else, at least the tea might help. Mint is good for nausea.”

Rain took a sip and sighed. “Out of all the mint teas I’ve tried, this one is my favorite.”

Phayu chuckled. “You’re right up there with my phor. Yeah, you like your mocha in all forms, but you’re a tea fiend like him.”

Rain giggled. “Tea is good, what can I say?” Rain said before taking another drink.

“Boiled leaf water.”

Rain mock gasped. “And coffee is boiled bean juice!”

Phayu began to laugh. “You’re not wrong, fair play. Is it helping?”

Rain leaned against Phayu. “Yes. I hate being nauseous.”

“Do you feel like trying to eat anything yet? Toast maybe. Or some crackers. Just something bland that might help your stomach settle some more.”

Rain hummed. “Not just yet, but soon. My mind is still reeling from thinking that I might be pregnant. That thought doesn’t feel real, you know?”

“It does feel crazy to think about. But I won’t lie, the prospect is exciting.”

Rain bit his lip. “I think so too, but part of me wants to say I shouldn’t be happy about it because of everything I went through; that it hasn’t been enough time. But the longer I sit with the idea of it, the more giddy I feel.”

“I can understand why that part of your brain is thinking that. But you’re ready for things when you’re ready. You feeling some excitement is your heart telling you you’re ready. Even if this time is negative, now we know that we could seriously talk about when to start trying.” Phayu said, rubbing his hand gently up and down Rain’s back.

“What if it’s not positive though? What if it never is? We don’t know for sure if everything that happened to me has affected my ability.” Rain blinked away the sudden tears. “What if I can’t give you a family?” Rain began to cry harder.

Phayu took the tea from Rain’s hands and set it on the floor before he pulled the Omega into his lap and wrapped his arms around him. “I have faith that we’ll have everything we want. If pups aren’t in our future, I don’t want you to ever feel guilty about anything. I love you. You are more than enough for me, I promise. You don’t have to take a test today if it would be too much for you.”

Rain whimpered and buried his face against Phayu’s neck, inhaling his scent. “I think I have to. I need to know.” Rain’s voice was quiet.

“Do you want me with you?”

Rain shook his head. “I’m sorry.”

“That’s ok, darling. You can do whatever you need to do. I’m here, in whatever way you need me.”

“I really love you, P’Phayu.”

Phayu pressed a kiss to Rain’s temple. “I love you too. Forever.”

They sat quietly for a few moments before Rain moved to sit back on the bathtub edge. Phayu smiled as he handed Rain his tea again.

“Phayu!” A voice called from the kitchen, interrupting the quiet moment..

“You should go see what P’Saifah wants. I’ll keep drinking my tea.” Rain said, holding his mug up.

“You sure?”

“I’m sure. I’m calming down, I’m ok now.” Rain replied.

The Alpha nodded and left the bathroom again. Rain sat quietly and after a few moments his mug was empty. He stood and made his way slowly through the house and found Phayu bent over, looking at a laptop with his twin.

“Everything ok?” Rain asked.

Saifah looked up and smiled. “All good, I just wanted some advice about a new car I’m looking at.”

Rain laughed. “You two and your cars. Please tell me it’ll be a good color and not something boring?”

“I was thinking of getting a bright green or maybe turquoise truck.”

“I approve.” Rain said as he sat the mug in the sink and turned back to them. “I still feel kind of weird, so I’m gonna lay down again.”

“Do you need me to come with you?” Phayu asked, standing upright.

“No, I’m ok, I’ll let you know if that changes.”

The Alpha nodded. “Right hand drawer under the sink.”

Rain gave him a confused look for a second before he realized that’s where the pregnancy tests probably were.

Phayu watched Rain walk away.

“Is he alright?” Saifah asked, drawing Phayu’s attention back to him.

“Yeah, he should be. He just has a bit of an upset stomach this morning.”

~~~~~~~
Rain sat on their bed until he felt the need to use the bathroom, so he went into the bathroom and pulled open the drawer Phayu had told him. He found Omega pregnancy tests and with shaking fingers, he picked one up and carefully began to open it.
He set it down, halfway opened, on the counter and walked back into their bedroom, shaking his hands as he paced. He was nervous. The fear that he may not be able to give his Alpha a family was starting to overwhelm him. He paced at the foot of the bed, popping his knuckles and fidgeting for a few minutes before he stopped and stared at the closed bathroom door.
“Fuck. Now or never.” Rain whispered as he marched back into the bathroom.
He finished tearing open the cardboard box and placed the components on the counter. After he had a bit of urine in the small plastic cup from the test, he washed his hands and went through the steps to get the test going.
Rain stared at his reflection in the mirror, slowly counting his breaths until the test began to beep. He lifted the test and closed his eyes for a moment before he read the results screen.
Pregnant.
He felt like he couldn’t breathe. He was going to give his Alpha a pup; a real, screaming, crying pup. Rain clutched the test in his fist and rushed back out to the kitchen, but when he saw the twins had moved, he ran to the living room. He saw Phayu and Saifah sitting with Thun. Rain ran over to the couch and climbed into Phayu’s lap, hugging him as he began crying.
“Good tears or bad, sweet boy?” Phayu asked softly, arms immediately hugging his Omega.
“Good.” Rain whispered. “Really good.”
“What’s going on, son?” Thun asked, sounding slightly alarmed.
Rain held up the pregnancy test, keeping his face buried against Phayu’s neck.
“Wait, are you pregnant?” Saifah asked.
“Yes!” Rain exclaimed.
Saifah and Thun both cheered as they moved to hug the pair.
Rain laughed. “We need to figure out how to tell Sky and P’Pai.”
Phayu hummed as he kissed Rain. “We’ll get a plan in a few days once we get more information from a doctor.” He said after he pulled away.
Rain snuggled closer to Phayu, happy tears running down his face.
“I can’t believe we’re going to have a family.” Rain said quietly.
Phayu wiped the tears from his Omega’s cheeks. “You’re perfect. Thank you.”
Rain laughed. “For what?”
“For being mine. For trusting me enough that this is our reality. For existing, basically.”
Rain rubbed his nose against Phayu’s. “Well, thank you too, for being someone I can trust and for always making me feel safe.”
“We should say thank you as well.” Thun said, smiling when Rain turned his head to look at him. “I’m going to be a grandfather, and Saifah will be an uncle. This is a blessing.”
Rain smiled. “It is. And this baby is going to be so loved, I already know it.”
Phayu hugged Rain and kept hold of him for the rest of the day.
