Chapter Text
Life wasn't the best for Jack. He had to balance between making the weekly Reddit videos (which didn't earn him much), geography videos, stuff videos, the occasional life videos, and Geoguessr with his dearest friend, Oscar.
Him and his Dearest Friend have an overwhelmingly positive relationship. Nothing could break them apart.
Except one thing.
Jack – felt something for him. He wanted to deny it, always. But at the end of the day, it was always there. Every time he talked to him, his feelings rose up and his chest and asked to be let out. Of course he thought no; how could he ruin this amazing friendship? Just for some cheap thrills? He wouldn't do that.
Yet.
>>>Oscar’s POV<<<
He gets up his discord, bringing up Jack's chat on his monitor.
He still can't believe he is crushing on his dearest friend. This would definitely ruin their relationship tenfold. But he had to say it one day. Always hoping he felt the same.
Oscar: hey, wanna hang out, Jacky?
Only 5 minutes later, Jack replied.
Jack: wanna play some geoguessr? we don't have to record it if you don't want to.
Oscar: can we record something first and then just do some rounds where we don't record, just for fun?
Jack: yeah, sure.
Oscar pulls up a video call with Jack, and they talk about getting ready to film the video.
“Hey Jacky, my dearest friend!” His voice sounds more flirty than usual.
“Hey, Oscar. How are you doing?” Jack seems more shy today.
“Yeah, I'm doing well, but you seem really shy today. What's up?”
“Oh.. Uhh.. Nothing. I'm fine.”
“Are you sure, Jacky? You can tell me anything.”
Oscar looks into Jack's eyes, and Jack looks back. Jack looks down after the eye contact.
“I'm… sure. Yeah.”
“If you say so. But if you feel that you want to tell me, then it's okay. I will support you, whatever it is.”
“No, no it's fine. Let's just get on with the game.”
“Okay,” Oscar says, trying his hardest not to tell his dear friend how he feels.
Jack pulls up Geoguessr.
“So, Jacky, do you have any ideas?”
“Yeah, I do. I was thinking that we could do Geoguessr but the round is black and white.”
“That's a good idea.” Oscar replies. “It would make it harder to see what's going on. Really good, Jacky. You are the best.”
Oscar tries to make it super obvious, but as always, Jack is super oblivious.
“Oh, uhh, thanks Oscar. You are too.” Jack smiles up at him, making Oscar's heart melt.
“Thanks so much.”
Oh. my. God. Oscar thinks. If he was here I would just kiss him right now.
“Jack, I was just wondering, you are going to the Geoguessr World Cup, right?”
“Yeah?”
“My friend has a place right next to it. Wanna sleep there and stuff?”
“Oh, uh, if he wants us too.”
“Yeah, he's fine with it.”
“Oh, okay, I'll go.”
Oscar used one of the oldest tricks in the book. There was only one bedroom, and there was no doubt he would want to stay in it.
There was one sofa that could be turned into a queen size bed, and he was just planning for both of them to sleep there.
Bingo! He thought.
“Oscar, you zoned out a bit. Are you okay?” Jack's voice brought him back to the present.
“Oh, yeah. I'm fine.”
“Good. I wouldn't want my dearest friend to miss out.”
“Aww, thanks.”
Oscar cursed under his breath, maybe making that one sound a little too flirty.
“You’re welcome.” Jack said with a blush spreading across his cheeks.
They both didn't know how long this shameless flirting could last.
“So, um, wanna start the round?” Oscar says with a cough, to clear his throat, but mainly to try to get Jack's attention.
“Yeah. Um, I'll boot up Geoguessr real quick.” Jack says, staring off into his second monitor.
The silence in the discord call is filled with tension. Something they can't change.
Not now, at least.
“Okay. I'll start recording in 3…2…1…” Jack says.
“Welcome to another Jack and Oscar video with me, Jack! And my dearest friend, Oscar!”
“Hey.” He says with a chuckle.
“So, today we are doing Geoguessr, but Oscar's round is in black and white. Now he can't tell what colour the sand is, the color of grass, or anything.”
“Good luck, Jacky.” Oscar says with a smirk.
“Good luck to you too, my dearest friend.”
They both mute, and the round hastily starts.
Jack moves his camera, glancing at the red sand, the blue sky, and the dead bushes.
“It has got to be Australia.”
He places his marker down on Western Australia, locking in his answer, confident that Oscar won't get close.
Meanwhile, Oscar also places his cursor on a similar place to Jack, and he manages to get a little closer than him, taking off 100 of Jack's health.
“Yes!” Oscar says, as he gets closer.
Jack, on the other hand, is annoyed. “Ugh. I'll get it next time. He was just lucky.” He was lying to himself, knowing full well Oscar was probably going to beat him.
Or was he?
They both went onto the next round, and it was an easy guess.
Jack noticed the ‘Nevada' sign, and placed his marker in the middle of Las Vegas, looking around at the dry climate and the iconic buildings surrounding him.
“Yeah, this is definitely Las Vegas.”
He locks in his answer, and so does Oscar.
They both get 5000, not taking any points off the other. They both chuckle.
“We really have the same mindset. That's cute. He's cute.” Oscar smiles.
On the other side, Jack is thinking the same. “I wonder what he's thinking about right now. The only thing I can think about is him.”
They are both stuck in each other's heads.
The 3rd round starts, and Jack immediately finds a German flag. He is in a relatively populous area, he notices, and places his marker on the outskirts of Berlin. He is only slightly sure he is in the right area.
He is lucky, as he gets a nice 4780. But, Oscar manages to get a 4900, placing closer to the centre of the city. 200 health is taken away from Jack, and he is a bit annoyed, but hoping to get better in the future.
Oscar receives a 1.25x multiplier, Jack with none.
The fourth round starts, Jack getting ready and puts his hand on the mouse, scanning around the place to see if he can see any hints. None yet.
Then he spots a Ukrainian bollard out of the corner of his eye. He notices the red rectangle, and clicks closer. It is a little far from the starting place, so he hopes Oscar doesn't get it.
He hedges his bets by placing his marker in the middle of the map and locking it in, and he is right.
Oscar has locked in his answer near the North border of Bulgaria, thrown off by the flatness of the land.
Oscar gets 800, and Jack gets a 4900, knocking off the rest of Oscar's health, and he is quick to unmute.
“What did you think about that then, Oscar?” He is trying to not sound too cocky, or flirty.
“You did really well in that round, Jacky, really.”
“Thanks, You did well too, just got unlucky on that last round.”
“I did. I can get better next time.”
“I believe that you will, my dearest friend.”
Jack can't help but try to flirt.
“Thanks for that, my dearest friend.”
He didn't mean to put emphasis on ‘my', but what can you do?
They chat for a little while, each of them slipping in little flirts, but the other being completely oblivious.
“Thanks for watching everyone, and please like and subscribe, bye!” Jack says louder than usual.
“That was a good session, wasn't it, Oscar.”
“It was, Jacky. I wouldn't want more than to be here with you.” Oscar curses silently, not meaning for that to slip out.
Jack's heartbeat speeds up, stuttering.
“I-uh.. You too, Oscar.”
“Bye, then, Jack.”
“Bye, Oscar.” He ends the discord call, almost sad to leave him.
This was their schedule, day after day.
This was all going to change.
