Work Text:
In terms of days, it'd been a fine day, even if most of it had been spent working. Not that that was very out of the ordinary either, as Abolish always had plenty to do. At least he hadn't had to go patrol, considering the fact that it'd been raining all day and he really didn't want to deal with getting soaked right now. Not that he wanted to do anything more than crawl into bed and try to stop thinking about how bad he was feeling.
It really didn't know why it still got like this sometimes. Something about the rain had hit him wrong though, bringing memories boiling to the surface of his mind that he'd assured himself he'd moved on from long ago.
Leaning back in his chair with a sigh, it stared blankly at its computer screen for a long enough time that it shut off entirely, leaving nothing but its own hazy reflection staring back at it. The highlights of its hair stood out much more clearly on the dark surface, enough that Abolish could almost make out just how gross it must've looked. Why couldn't his reflection at least dissappeared enough that it wasn't able to make out anything inside of it?
The quiet rattle of a key struggling to unlock the perpetually sticky lock on the front door finally caused Abolish to move again, eyes traveling lazily towards the sound as he sat back up in his chair. A moment later the door was being pushed open quietly, Legundo stepping inside the apartment and closing the door behind himself with equal gentleness.
"Hey Abolish, how's work?" He called across the room, busying himself with taking off his shoes.
"Fine," it replied, unable to muster the energy to go greet his boyfriend by the door as it usually did. Legs paused for a moment, eyes flicking towards Abolish with some slight concern that made its stomach twist up uncomfortably. It wasn't supposed to be acting like this, not anymore at least, and clearly Legs was picking up on it as well.
"Sorry, am I interrupting?" Legs asked hesitantly, pulling himself up from the ground and walking towards him as one might a scared cat. Spinning in his chair so that he wouldn't have to look at that painfully concerned facae, Abolish tried his best to look as if he were going back to focusing on something important on his computer,
"Um-yeah. I'm almost done with this report. Give me a few minutes." Legs hummed nonbelievingly, finally reaching Abolish and wrapping his arms around its shoulders. Leaning gently against it, he peered at the screen, brow furrowing in confusion.
"Abolish. Your computer's off." Too late, Abolish grabbed the mouse, flicking it across the desk to wake the screen back up. Legs didn't say anything else, simply hovering over Abolish as he stared into the screen, words blurring together as his eyes suddenly filled with tears. Blinking them back, he leaned further into Legs' touch, feeling the way his very alive arms tensed slightly before relaxing again.
"Are you feeling alright?" He murmured against its hair, cool breath ghosting against its scalp in a way that made him shiver slightly. Turning his head towards Legs, Abolish hoped that he'd managed to blink the tears from his eyes quick enough to not be noticed. It wasn't like there was much his boyfriend could do for him, so there was not reason to worry him. Legs might've been a brilliant doctor and a vampire, but even he couldn't bring someone back from the dead.
"I'm fine, Legs. Just- memories, that's all."
Sighing sympathetically, Legs stepped back, spinning Abolish around so he could see him properly. More accurately so he could see the concern etched on the doctors face, soft in a way that never failed to convince Abolish to listen to him, "I'm sorry. How about you take a break for a minute? Have you eaten yet today?"
"It's fine, 'm not really hungry right now," Abolish muttered, stomach churning at the thought of eating anything at the moment. Less so because he wasn't hungry and more because the person haunting his thoughts wouldn't be eating with the pair. Hadn't eaten with them in over a century, even if it felt like yesterday at the moment.
"Alright. Later then. You're not staying here though," before Abolish had a chance to ask what, exactly, his boyfriend meant by that, it was being scooped from the chair, cradled gently as he was carried down the hall and into their bedroom. As soon as it'd been set down on the bed, Legs was laying next to it, wrapping it up in his arms and squeezing comfortingly.
"Legs…" Abolish grumbled, even as he melted into the familiar touch. At least Legs was still alive, even if that nearly hadn't been the case. If he'd lost both him and Pyro…shuddering, he pressed himself even closer to the figure next to join, hands reaching up to cling to his shirt.
"Abolish," his boyfriend teased, one hand moving to his hair to play with the dark strands, ever so faintly streaked with white throughout. Remnants of times it'd overindulged, gotten sloppy and allowed the humanity he held onto so tightly to slip away just a little bit more. Or like a cat's fur, if you listened to Legs. Softer, he asked, "is it about him again?"
"Yeah, sorry. I know you didn't care about them. Or, not like I did," it sighed, still wary of making Legs feel bad. Though he'd never seemed bothered by him talking about Pyro before, but some voice in the back of his head was always worried that this time he would be, even after so many times where one of them had ended up crying to the other about something that had happened back in Oakhurst.
Abolish felt the chest beneath his ear rumble slightly, a noncommittal hum leaving the man's throat. "They were a good person, though. I probably could've, if given the chance."
"But-" whatever it was going to argue was cut off when a gentle but insistent kiss was placed to his lips, thoughts brushed from his mind like cobwebs. Immediately, It kissed him deeper, some part of him deciding that maybe if he just kissed Legs hard enough it would forget all about the rainstorm and the memories that came with it.
Smiling against his lips, Legs allowed him to do so. The hand in his hair pressed his lips even closer to the other's while the other wandered beneath his shirt, trailing up to the scars on his chest and running gently along one of them.
Abolish stayed like that a long time, once again thankful that being a vampire at least meant that he wasn't going to run out of breath anymore. Only after what must have been a few minutes of kissing did he pull away, noting the soft look on Legs' face as he did so.
"Feel better?" He murmured, pulling Abolish's head back down to rest on his chest. Even in vampirism he seemed warmer than it, a fact that he would never hesitate to take advantage of.
"A little," it sighed, a faint purr rumbling in its chest. The sound served to drown out the steady patter of rain on the window, quiet but still incredibly easy to pick up with such sensitive ears.
"That's good." When he made no move to let him get up, Legs pushed himself up, laughing at the way Abolish grumbled as he fell fully onto the mattress, "come now, we've still got to eat."
"Do I have too?" He grumbled, a small smile tugging at his lips at the exasperated look on Legs' face.
"Yes. Now come on," when Legs returned to the bedside, grabbing Abolish's arm, he allowed himself to be pulled up, trailing behind him as they walked toward the kitchen.
