Age nine, making shadow puppets in the basement with lantern light while ignoring the sound of his house nearly blowing away. But there’s guests now. Everyone’s experienced bad weather, but there’s just something different about it when you don’t live in a concrete city building. Alright, man of the house. Let’s go.
Mark stands up. “I’m calling it. Treat the storm like it’s going to hit in an hour. Not this afternoon.” He says. “Hang around inside the house in case we have to run to the basement.”
“Wait, where’s Beth?” Melissa says suddenly.
Or: Mark and the five students are alone in the house when a massive storm hits. Mark needs to do basic farm prep, as well as get everyone into the basement. But a member of the group is missing, and Mark also needs to learn how to accept help from the others.
