Summary
1998: Hermione returns to her Eighth Year of school a woman, without her boys, determined to learn who she is on her own. She has seen incredible good, and horrifying evil, and all it has shown her is that there is much to the world that she doesn’t yet fully understand. As she delves farther into learning what lies at the root of all things, it turns out that the well of magic — in the world, in herself, and in others — is deeper than she ever imagined.
Or: It's Minerva's idea. To make the year useful and engaging, all Eighth Years will pick a subject -- any subject -- to write a dissertation on over the course of the year, combining elements of all of their classes to frame their discussion. No word count, no page limit: they must simply, in whatever way necessary, convey that they have gained a deeper understanding of their world.
Of course, there's a catch: the project must be completed with a partner. And Hermione? Hermione has faced torture, dragons, and Voldemort himself.
She can handle Pansy effing Parkinson.
