    Summary

It’s been three years since James’ father died. Two weeks since he’s made the time to visit his mother. Three years since James has heard from Regulus Black. Ten years since Regulus left. One year since James proposed to Lily. Five years since he’s had a cigarette.

Time isn't a thief. Letting it pass is the easiest thing on earth. Easier than living or dying. James lets it. He ignores anything that might keep him up at night. Choice is an illusion.

    If only Regulus stayed gone.

It still wouldn’t go away. Regulus figured it never would. This was exactly what he’d hoped to avoid. A shame, Regulus Black had never been a lucky man.

“I wish sometimes that I could go back and do it all again,” James whispered finally.

Regulus moved to stand behind James. Just close enough to reach out and touch his shoulder. With the stark reminder still sitting between them, Regulus kept his hands to himself. “Why? What would you change? You could live ten more lives, and you still wouldn’t have the courage to change even a single thing.”
