Lilith had whispered as she kissed his brow before turning back to their bed and the plethora of reaching hands there. She tossed a coquettish smirk back at Lucifer, before lowering herself down into the throng of sinners that had served as the night’s entertainment for them both. It was tempting to join her, but the missive in his hand beckoned to his curious mind. A cataclysmic event was on the horizon in the mortal realm. One last chance to witness the thriving city of Pompeii and all of its marvels. A singular chance to watch the world burn. Who could resist?
It is Summer of 79 AD, and Lucifer receives a missive from Heaven warning of impending doom in the mortal realm. He takes the opportunity to go live amongst the humans and finds himself utterly fascinated with a particular showman with a darkened soul. It is forbidden to interfere with human destinies, but maybe he can bend the rules just a tad.
