Work Header

The sun will always be there waiting after the rain

Summary:

Seungmin knew there would be cons of raising a baby, he just didn't think he'd have to face them so soon.

or: After a particularly rough day at work, all Seungmin wants to do is crawl under his blankets and cry. Unfortunately enough, he has parental responsibilities to tend to and can't. However, the tears seem to escape him uncontrollably and he can't seem to stop them before they're seen. It's a good thing he has Changbin and a very emotionally intelligent toddler to help him through it all.

Notes:

Hi hi!! Here's another Yuna fic for yall bc these three have not left my brain for a single second. This one is a bit more on the angstier side but it's just as comforting. I don't have much to say this time around only that baby Yuna is around late two years old in this one! (But it's mentioned once or twice in the fic)

Anyways, hope you enjoy!!

And you can find this fic's promo tweet and moodboard here!

Work Text:

Seungmin tries, he swears he tries, but it all seems to pile up in a way he can’t ignore it. As much as he blinks up at the ceiling, as much as he tries swallowing down the knot in his throat, it doesn’t work. It’s like an overflowing cup of water. Soon enough, it’ll spill over and create a giant mess. And a mess it indeed creates.

The first tear is an accident, taking him by surprise when it breaches the corner of his eye and drags a burning line down his cheek. He’s glad he’s in his bedroom, door half closed, because it doesn’t take long before the slow tears turn into near-sobs. His shoulders shake with the effort of holding them back, nails digging into his knees as he hangs his head in between his shoulders, his bottom lip tugged in between his teeth in a bruising hold. Everything has been building up for far too long inside of him. It only took one more rough and stressful day at work for him to tip over the edge.

He’ll admit, it feels nice to finally let it out. Sure, it feels restricting trying to keep his sobs down and he can’t quite breathe, but there’s something free about the way the tears slip down his cheeks and chin, landing on the back of his hand in rhythmic tap taps.

But then the door creaks on his hinges and a small voice travels across the room and he all but jumps from where he’s seated on the edge of the bed.

“Appa?” The voice mumbles sweetly. Seungmin’s hand snaps up to wipe at his cheeks as discreetly as he can. He swallows once, twice, before finally managing to push out words.

“Yes, baby?” He doesn’t look up to meet his baby girl’s eyes as he speaks, he doesn’t have the courage to. It’s his first time getting caught crying and he doesn’t want to subject his little Yuna to having to see the sadness in his eyes. He’s been told before that he looks miserable when he cries and he doesn’t want Yuna to see him like that. Like this.

“Want water,” she says in sloppy vowels. He can feel that she’s still standing near the door and hasn’t made any moves to come closer and he doesn’t know if he’s thankful for it or not. But now he has to go tend to her when the only thing he wants to do is crawl under his blankets and cry until he no longer can. He figures this is one of those side-effects that come with parenthood.

Fuck, where’s Changbin when he needs him?

“Can—can you ask daddy, baby?” He tries, swallowing around the way his voice cracks at the edges. He presses the sleeve of his hoodie to his cheek, the fabric dampening as another tear soaks into it. He doesn’t know what to do. His breathing’s picking up and the tears keep threatening to fall. He knows he needs to get himself in check and remain strong. He can’t be seen as falling apart so easily, not by his own daughter. Yet, he can’t seem to get himself together enough to even look up at the toddler still standing at the door. Or…he thought she was still standing at the door.

Her feet are light and she moves far too quietly at times, startling them more than they should be by their own two-year old. The only indication Seungmin has that she’s no longer staring at him from the door is the soft pitter-patter of her feet against the wooden floor and the creak of a door opening a few doors down the hallway. He freezes when he hears her small voice carry out.

“Appa’s crying,” she says, the pout that she most likely has on her face laced in her tone.

Shit.

Seungmin only finds himself crying harder. He can’t move, just sits there with a hand raised to his face as he cries. He can’t believe he’s raised someone as caring as Yuna, who immediately ran to Changbin after seeing that Seungmin was upset, wanting to make her appa feel better once again. Seungmin whimpers under his breath, an unconscious habit he's developed while crying, as he hears a pair of louder footsteps sound from down the hallway. Changbin’s at his side in seconds, practically spawning next to him, his hands already reaching out to steady Seungmin's trembling figure.

“Hey, hey, you’re okay,” Changbin reassures in a low, firm voice, his steady fingers wrapping around Seungmin's arms to lift him off the edge of the bed. It felt like he'd been glued to the mattress the entire time, feeling heavier than he usually is as he gets lifted. “You’re okay, baby. Breathe. Are you hurt?”

Changbin’s hands roam over his body once he’s standing—albeit with wobbly legs—as if checking to make sure he’s in one piece. Seungmin finds it in himself to shake his head, even as he hiccups through sobs he so desperately tries to conceal. He doesn’t know where he is, his vision blurred around the edges and mind fuzzy, and he doesn’t know what’s happening. All he knows is that there’s a pair of arms around him and a set of lips brushing against his sweat-damped hair.

“You’re okay, it’s okay,” The voice says smoothly, drifting into his ears and clearing out his mind. When he returns to his body, he registers his hand being held up to his eyes, his forehead pressed against a solid chest, and his breathing as small hitches and hiccups in his chest. A hand drags down his back, threads through his hair. He whimpers into the chest he melts into. “Rough day, hm?”

Seungmin nods with another whimper.

“It’s okay, I’m here now. I got you, baby.”

Seungmin’s fingers unfurl from where they had been so desperately clutched in front of his face and reach out to wrap an arm around a solid back, his other hand fisting the material of a thin tank top. His breathing seems to regulate somewhat, despite his cries still being small hiccups and whimpers muffled into Changbin’s chest.

“Mhm, there you go,” a hand cards through his hair and settles on the back of his neck. “Just like that, baby. In and out. You’re okay, I’m here.”

When Seungmin’s cries subside to sniffles and mindless hiccups, he registers Changbin press a kiss to his temple before those soft pairs of lips are pulled away from him.

“Hey,” Changbin calls out softly. At first, Seungmin thinks Changbin's talking to him and he opens his mouth to respond, an apology already bubbling near the surface when he realizes that Changbin's voice had grown louder, loud enough to call out to someone else farther away in the room. A chill goes down Seungmin’s spine and when he looks up from where he’d been hiding in Changbin’s chest, he finds Yuna peeking over the doorway with her own eyes glossy and threatening to spill over.

Fuck, she’d been watching the whole thing hadn’t she?

“C’mere,” Changbin coaxes, his arms still wrapped around Seungmin and hands still steady where they splay out over his body. Seungmin buries himself back into Changbin’s chest as he hears hurried footsteps pad into the room. One of Changbin’s hands leave him and he can only assume it’s gone down to touch Yuna instead.

“Appa’s alright, sweetheart,” he tells her with a soft chuckle. “Just had a bad day.”

When Seungmin hears a soft whimper come from a few feet below him, his chest clenches and he pulls away from Changbin to look down at the girl settled in between them. They’re so alike—Yuna and Seungmin—that it’s sometimes dizzying. Yuna’s adopted and not anywhere close to being related to Seungmin by blood but she’s still so similar to him that he forgets he didn’t birth her out of his own body.

When his eyes meet Yuna’s, he feels that urge to cry again. There’s a downturned pout set on her face and her eyes are all wide and wet, eyebrows scrunched together as she looks up at him. He feels like he's looking down at a mini version of himself. Changbin crouches down to scoop her up into one arm and lifts her so that she’s eye level with Seungmin, round eyes blinking wetly at him.

“See? Appa’s okay,” Changbin pecks a kiss to her cheek, his other arm still steadily wrapped around Seungmin’s waist. She blinks owlishly at Seungmin again once, twice, three times before lunging forward and clinging to his neck. A laugh punches out of Seungmin's chest in surprise, his own arms reaching up to wrap around her little body as she clings to him in a tight hug. He presses his chin to her shoulder and squeezes her back just as tightly.

“All okay,” he whispers to her. “Just sad.”

She sniffles into his shoulder, fingers clutching at his hoodie.

“Why sad?” She whines. “No sad…”

He can’t help but chuckle again, his cheek rubbing against her shoulder with a soft sigh.

“Appa no sad anymore, okay?” He promises. She nods determinedly into his shoulder and Seungmin opens his eyes to look over at Changbin from over her shoulder with still-teary eyes. Changbin’s smile is fond and soft as he reaches out and swipes his thumb across Seungmin's cheek to wipe off a stray tear.

“Come on, baby puppy,” Changbin tries, hands tugging at Yuna's back and waist to take her out of Seungmin's hold. “Let’s go get you that water.”

But Yuna doesn’t loosen her hold around Seungmin’s neck. Instead, she shakes her head and only clings to him tighter. Seungmin can’t help the laugh that leaves him. He takes Yuna from Changbin and holds her in his own arms instead.

“I’m okay, baby,” He tells her again, ducking his head to press a kiss to her cheek. But Yuna just shakes her head again, a small whine muffling into his shoulder. A frown tugs on Seungmin's face, guilt settling low and heavy into his chest. Now Yuna's sad too… He looks back up at Changbin and juts his bottom lip out into a pout, eyebrows knitted together in confusion and despair. Changbin gives him back a wry smile and a small shrug, one hand reaching out to rub down Yuna’s back.

“Yuna,” Changbin calls, leaning down to press a kiss to her shoulder. “C’mon, don’t be sad, baby. Everything’s okay.”

She whines in response, fingers tightening around the fabric of Seungmin’s hoodie as she presses her face further into Seungmin’s neck. Seungmin bounces her in his arms to try and soothe her and presses a soft kiss to her temple.

“You think we still have some ice cream left?” Seungmin wonders out loud, tightening his arms around Yuna as he turns towards the door. “I think some ice cream could really cheer us up right now, hm?”

Changbin lets out a small giggle in response and trails after Seungmin as begins heading out of the bedroom, one hand hovering at the small of Seungmin’s back.

“Great idea, babe,” Changbin smirks. “Let’s go get us some ice cream. Do you want some ice cream too, little pup?”

Yuna doesn’t pick her head up from where it’s pressed into Seungmin’s neck but she does peer her eyes over his shoulder to look at Changbin. She nods, eyes still tear filled and glossy. It’s enough to make a grin spread on Changbin’s face and he nods back at her.

“Yeah? Then let’s get you all the ice cream in the world!” Changbin announces as they continue making their way down to the kitchen. Seungmin shakes his head with a fond chuckle and an eye roll.

“Now that’s too far…” he grins. Yuna’s little fingers tighten on him and she peers farther over his shoulder, chin hooking over it to look up at Changbin.

“Yuna gon’ get a tummy ache…” she mumbles, a little pout set on her tear-streaked face. Somehow, Changbin’s able to hold back his face from splitting in half with the grin that spreads there and he instead pulls on an inquisitive look, one hand coming up to stroke his chin thoughtfully.

“Hm…” he hums, eyebrows furrowed as if he’s thinking about the hardest thing in the world. “I guess you’re right, huh?”

Seungmin can’t help but chuckle again at Changbin’s silly and stupid antics, something warm spreading through his chest. He leans against the counter once they arrive at the kitchen and hoists Yuna up his arms so that she's leaning back against his chest.

“So how much ice cream should you eat? One spoon?” Changbin asks, hands settling on his hips and head cocking to the side as he settles in front of the two. Yuna lets out a nasally giggle and shakes her head back and forth, hair bouncing with the movement.

“No!” She exclaims in between giggles, fists curled into the fabric of Seungmin's hoodie. Seungmin’s cheeks hurt with the grin that spreads on his face. “Daz too little.”

“Too little?” Changbin hums thoughtfully again and takes a step to the side to open up one of the overhead cabinets. He reaches up on his tippy toes to reach one of the higher shelves and when he returns back to the soles of his feet, he’s holding a rather big bowl in his hand. He looks up at Yuna with a triumphant smile and holds out the bowl. “How about we fill this? Is that too little?”

Yuna erupts into giggles again and Seungmin can’t hold back his own chuckles.

“No!” Yuna exclaims again with a rapid shake of her head, wiggling against Seungmin's chest. “Daz too much!”

Changbin’s eyebrows raise in mock surprise and he looks down at the bowl with saucer-wide eyes.

“Too much?” He echoes incredulously. He frowns and hums in thought once more before placing the bowl down on the counter and placing his hands on his hips again. “Then how much ice cream should we eat?”

Yuna squirms in Seungmin’s hold and Seungmin crouches down to release her onto the floor. She stumbles a bit once she's on her feet but scurries off to a lower cabinet with a giggle. She pulls the drawer open and pulls out one of her smaller bowls, the one that has a Pororo stamp across it. She holds it up to show Changbin.

“Dis much!” She chirps. Changbin’s face lights up in realization and he nods, mouth parting in understanding.

“Ah, I see,” He nods, taking the Pororo bowl from her. He holds it in both hands, tilting it this way and that as if inspecting it. He raises an eyebrow at it. “Is this the right amount for ice cream?”

She nods confidently with a chirped ‘mhm!’ and Seungmin can’t help the laugh that leaves him. His chest feels so light as he watches the interaction, so warm as he watches the way Changbin goes about cheering Yuna up. He really is such a good dad, isn’t he?

“Just right?” Seungmin asks with another laugh. Yuna nods again. “What is this? Goldilocks?”

Now it’s Changbin’s turn to let out a laugh, one of those high-pitched breathy giggles of his that sound like it came directly from an episode of Woody Woodpecker. The sound brings even more joy to Seungmin, his grin only widening. Yuna also lets out an ecstatic giggle, the sound digging its way into Seungmin’s heart and leaving him wondering if he’s on cloud 9. While the other two are still giggling over his Goldilocks reference, Seungmin turns to retrieve the ice cream tub from the freezer—a half empty tub of Cookies and Cream ice cream. You can’t go wrong with a good Cookies and Cream ice cream.

“But wait,” Changbin says as Seungmin ruffles through the utensils drawer for an ice cream scooper or a spoon that could substitute as one. “Will all three of us share this bowl? I think that might be too little ice cream for each of us, don’t you think?”

Yuna bursts out laughing again and she shakes her head.

“No!” She exclaims again, just like she had the last two times Changbin’s asked silly questions. She spins back towards the drawer and rummages through it before taking out two more bowls—this time, one with a Hello Kitty stamp and the other with a Teenieping stamp. “Here!”

“Ohhh,” Changbin nods again and takes the other two bowls from her, lining all three of them up on the counter for Seungmin to scoop some ice cream in them. He does exactly that, making sure to give each bowl a generous amount of ice cream but not too much. Just the right amount. After he does so, Changbin digs out three spoons for them, one smaller and made of plastic, and sticks one in each bowl.

“Alright, your highness,” Changbin says once all three ice creams are prepared. He looks down at Yuna, who stands on her tippy toes to peer over the counter at the bowls. “Which bowl do you want?”

“Hello Kitty,” She responds cheerfully, extending her arm out to point at the pink Hello Kitty themed bowl. Changbin hums in agreement and picks up the Hello Kitty bowl for her. He’ll carry it to the couch for her, since Seungmin doesn't doubt she'll drop it if she's tasked with carrying it herself. He then turns to look at Seungmin, who’s just finished putting away the tub of ice cream.

“What about appa? Which bowl does appa want?” He asks with a raised eyebrow. Seungmin perks up with a hum, head cocking to the side puppy style at the question. He hadn’t really been paying attention to their conversation, too busy zoning out.

“Hm?” Seungmin hums but then looks down at the remaining two bowls as Changbin gestures to them. A smile pulls on his face and he reaches out to take the blue Pororo one. “I’ll take Pororo.”

“Daddy gets Teenieping!” Yuna exclaims with a shrill giggle. Changbin smirks down at the Teenieping bowl and makes a gesture that resembles victory.

Seungmin trails after the two as they begin walking out to the living room, his Pororo bowl filled with ice cream cradled in his hands.

“She looks just like me, doesn’t she?” Changbin asks, angling the bowl to look at the small pink character displayed on the side. Yuna giggles and scrambles up on the couch, legs folding in front of her and hands reaching out for her bowl of ice cream, which Changbin places gingerly in her hands.

The three sit side by side on the couch and put on a movie to watch while they eat their ice cream. By the time the movie’s finished, Yuna’s eyes are heavy and she’s slumped against Seungmin’s side. Before she falls asleep right then and there, Seungmin scoops her up and takes her off to the bathroom for a quick bath. While he does so, Changbin tends to the other household activities, like washing the bowls they just used to eat their ice cream.

And soon enough, Seungmin’s seated on the edge of Yuna’s bed, his fingers carding through her hair as he smiles down at her cozy form tucked under her blanket. Her eyes are heavy but not entirely closed yet, indicating she hasn’t fallen asleep quite yet.

“Appa,” she mumbles suddenly into the quiet of her darkened room.

“Hm?”

She peels her eyes open far enough to look up at Seungmin with round, beady eyes—the definition of puppy eyes.

“Still sad?” she asks with a small pout.

Seungmin feels his heart pang in his chest and he smiles reassuringly down at her, fingers brushing her bangs to the side.

“No, sweetheart,” he shakes his head, thumb swiping over her cheekbone. “Appa's not sad anymore.”

Her eyes flutter shut again at the response and a satisfied smile curls onto her lips.

“Good,” she sighs and tugs the blanket farther up her shoulders. Before she drifts off into sleep, she mumbles, “Appa no sad anymore.”

Seungmin didn’t think his heart could hurt any further. Ironically enough, he feels like crying again. He really did do a good job raising her, huh? For her to turn out such an empathetic and caring girl like this means he’s probably done something right.

God, he’d do anything for her.

Once he’s certain she’s deep in her own little dreamworld, he bends down and presses a soft kiss to her forehead, along with a muttered ‘I love you’ before standing up and leaving, flicking the nightlight on before gently pulling the door closed behind him. The entire way to his and Changbin’s bedroom, Seungmin’s chest begins to feel heavy again. Now that he doesn’t have a giggling two year old or a silly husband to focus his attention on, Seungmin finds himself falling deep into his thoughts again.

Whatever he’s feeling must reflect on his face because as soon as he steps into the bedroom, Changbin looks up at him from where he’d been aggressively typing on his phone and his face softens.

“Okay, puppy?” Changbin asks, turning his phone off without another glance and dropping it off to the side on the bed. He slides off the mattress and pads his way to where Seungmin is still slowly traveling into the room. The easy and simple way he speaks reminds Seungmin achingly of Yuna. It's enough to lift a small weight off his chest but not enough to get rid of it entirely. He shrugs in response to the question. And while he doesn’t give a definitive answer, he also doesn’t pull away when Changbin wraps his arms around his waist and tugs him close.

“Tired,” he mumbles into Changbin’s shoulder once he curls over his body. Changbin drags his hand up Seungmin’s back, tracing over his spine, and hums.

“Yeah, I bet you are,” he mumbles, tilting his head to the side to press a kiss onto his temple. He holds him tightly like that for a bit before pulling away, fingers looping around one of Seungmin’s wrists. “Anything you wanna talk about?”

Seungmin shakes his head and gently takes his hand from Changbin’s hold to round him and climb into bed.

“Shitty day is all,” he says without further comment. He slides himself under the blankets, eyes blinking up at the ceiling. Changbin’s quick to climb in after him, sliding under the blankets as well to press against Seungmin’s side.

“I’m sorry, baby,” he mutters, leaning over to press a kiss to Seungmin’s cheek. One arm drapes over his waist. “You looked like you were having a tough time earlier too.”

Seungmin casually shrugs.

“I didn’t mean to fall apart like that,” he mumbles up into the ceiling, fingers twisting in the blanket. “Not in front of Yuna no less. It just got…harder to hold back the more things piled up.”

He can feel Changbin’s deep frown from beside him without even having to look. Changbin strokes a thumb over the sliver of skin on his waist as his shirt rides up.

“You shouldn’t have to go to that extent. Crying is good for you, healthy even,” Curse Changbin and his stupid positive wellbeing bullshit. Seungmin loves him. He side eyes him with a pout.

“Not in front of Yuna,” he grumbles. He folds his arms over his chest, hands rubbing up and down his upper arms. Changbin lets out a small sigh and readjusts his positioning so that he can lean his chin down on one of Seungmin’s arms and look up at him through his eyelashes. Seungmin regrets looking down at him as he does, his chest only aching further at the look in his eyes. He keeps his eyes frozen on the ceiling the rest of the time he talks. “Yuna shouldn’t have to see me break down like that. I’m supposed to be her strong appa, not some…”

“Watch it.”

Seungmin sighs deep and heavy, chest rising and falling like a wave in the ocean.

“I just felt…pathetic crying in front of her like that. And then I felt even worse when she started crying too. All she wanted was some water and maybe some attention but instead she had to witness me crying like a baby.”

Changbin pinches the skin of his waist between his pointer and thumb finger, hard enough for Seungmin to wince but not hard enough for it to actually hurt or make Seungmin jerk away.

“Are you hearing yourself right now, baby?” Changbin deadpans. Then he clicks his tongue in a disappointed manner. Seungmin can feel a pout pull on his lips again. Changbin doesn't pay any mind to it and continues,

“Crying is a normal and healthy thing to do and as her parents, we should teach her that. It should be normalized to her that sometimes people cry after a long day or when something goes wrong and that it’s normal to do that. If you limit yourself like this, she’s going to grow up thinking that crying means you’re weak or ‘pathetic’ as you put it.”

Seungmin can already feel the back of his eyes begin to sting again. He swallows thickly but continues to listen to Changbin’s surprisingly wise words without interruption.

“I know you didn’t mean to make her cry either but that’s just how it goes sometimes. If you see someone you really care about feeling sad, you’re going to feel sad too. And the fact that she can feel that way is so big. She’s such an empathetic person for being able to feel like that. It was only natural for her to want to cry as well.”

Seungmin nods and bites down on his lower lip to stop it from trembling. Changbin reaches a hand up and pries it out from in between his teeth, smoothing his thumb over it.

“It was her first time seeing you distraught like that and it made her feel distressed too, leading to her crying. But the more you normalize crying after a long day, the less harshly she’ll take it. She’ll continue to worry because of how empathetic she is but she won’t be so sad that she’ll cry as well.”

Seungmin feels the tears escape by themselves and he nibbles on the inside of his cheek, blinking rapidly to try and stop the tears as they fall and roll down his cheeks.

“And, hey,” Changbin whispers, thumb brushing away his tears. He pushes himself up again to get closer to Seungmin, his voice remaining in that whispered tone. “Guess what that says about us? That we’re great parents who taught our baby how to feel empathetic towards others. Don’t you think?”

Seungmin nods with a sniffle and lifts his hand to wipe at his cheeks.

“Yeah, we are,” Changbin mutters just in case Seungmin didn’t get the memo. He does it as he’s bending down to press his lips to the tear tracks staining one of Seungmin’s cheeks and it only causes Seungmin to cry harder. His shoulder shakes and he angles his head away from Changbin, hands sliding up to cover his face. Changbin frowns but doesn’t force Seungmin to look at him again. He leans back down on his chest, chin resting on his forearm as his arms fold over Seungmin’s chest.

“And, you know,” Changbin continues, voice low and mumbled. He stretches his fingers out to graze them over the side of Seungmin’s neck. “I’d rather have you let go like this than store it up and explode later on.”

Seungmin finally seems to get a hold of himself again and his sobs slowly subside. His hands slowly slide away from his face but he keeps his head angled away. He drags the heel and the back of his hands over his face and the wet, salty tears clinging to his face. Changbin's voice is low and soothing as he continues speaking.

“And if you truly feel so against letting her see you cry, then you could find someplace private for you to be able to comfortably let go. Maybe in the shower or just in the car…somewhere where you won’t be restricting yourself from letting go.”

Changbin slides his hand closer to the side of Seungmin’s neck and gently cups it, thumb dragging back and forth and rubbing slow circles onto his neck. Seungmin sniffles and lowers a hand to wrap his fingers around Changbin’s wrist as his hand cradles the side of his face but he doesn’t use it to pull his hand away. No, he only holds him closer.

“And if you ever need a few minutes without having to worry about Yuna, just tell me,” Changbin whispers. “Tell me and I’ll gladly entertain her for twenty or so minutes so you can give yourself some alone time. Granted that I’m home, I guess.”

Seungmin nods and finally looks back at Changbin, his eyes still puffy and wet with the remnants of his tears. When they make eye contact, a soft smile pulls on Changbin’s face. He lifts himself from his position to lean over to the nightstand and pluck a tissue from the tissue box resting there. He uses it to wipe the snot clinging to Seungmin’s nose and upper lip before using the other side to wipe his tears.

“There you go,” he mumbles, leaning down to place a kiss on Seungmin’s forehead. He places another on the bridge of his nose and then the tip of his nose before ducking down to kiss his mouth. Seungmin tips his chin up and meets him halfway, their lips connecting softly and gently. They kiss slow and lazy, not the best kiss Seungmin’s had but amazing nonetheless. It’s comforting and reassuring. He pulls away just slightly, enough that their lips are still brushing and enough that he can mumble three special words against Changbin’s mouth.

“I love you.”

He sees the reaction almost instantly. Changbin freezes, eyes widening but a grin spreading on his face at the words and he cups Seungmin’s neck properly before surging down and capturing his mouth in a rougher kiss. Seungmin grunts into it, fingers curling around Changbin’s wrist.

“I love you too, puppy,” Changbin says when he pulls away, the two’s breathing coming out heavier. He leans down and bumps their nose together, purses his lips out and pecks another kiss to his mouth. “So much.”

Seungmin hums in response and returns the peck, going pliant under him as Changbin kisses him again. But before the kiss can get any deeper, Seungmin pulls away, head turning to the side to separate their lips. He places a hand on Changbin’s chest to lightly push him off of him.

“That’s enough,” he mumbles, the blush creeping high on his cheeks giving him away. Once Changbin finally gets off of him, Seungmin rolls over to lay on his side facing away from Changbin and pulls the blankets up his shoulders. “Or else you’re gonna get me worked up.”

Changbin giggles airily from behind him but doesn’t prod. Instead, he tucks himself behind Seungmin and wraps himself around him. He presses a kiss to the back of his neck.

“Good night, baby,” he mutters against the nape of his neck. Seungmin hums in response, hand sliding down to cover Changbin’s hand overtop his stomach. Their fingers easily intertwine together.

“G’Night hyung.”
