Work Text:
Yoonchae and Megan had been dating for around two weeks in complete secrecy, which may not seem like a long time but it was for two girls who can't seem to keep their hands and eyes away from each other. They had decided to not tell anyone—including their members— simply because it was the smarter option at the time and it's easier for the two of them to lie about rather than six.
They applauded themselves in getting through long rehearsals and meet ups while keeping up their act. They had managed some time alone but it wasn't frequent enough for their liking.
Yoonchae and Megan were determined to keep everyone oblivious for a couple of months at the very least and were pretty successful. That was until every member had found out about them in under a week and each in a different way.
Manon was the first to find out, which was ironic considering they actively saw each other less and less because of the hiatus. All the girls were set to hang out at Yoonchae's apartment together for a way to catch up and decompress from everything happening.
Megan was already there since she spent the night and wanted to help Yoonchae clean up. There wasn't much to do as their plan was to lounge in Yoonchae's living room but they still needed to pick up some of the mess that had accumulated from the week.
When Yoonchae and Megan finished and sat on the couch, the time was five o’clock on the dot. They had told everyone to be at the apartment at five-forty five but knowing Lara and Daniela, they likely wouldn't arrive till closer to six. Megan knew this of course, so she decided she wanted to mess with Yoonchae.
“Yoonchae, do you know how good you look today?” Megan asked while scooting closer to Yoonchae on the couch. She knew it would make her girlfriend cringe and she was right. Yoonchae made a face and scooted farther into the arm rest.
“You’re so corny, Megan.” The blonde replied with fake disgust but Megan saw the blush in her cheeks. She had already been successful, Yoonchae was very easy to fluster despite contrary belief. Megan wanted to push her more.
“Complimenting you is corny now? God forbid I want you to know I’m attracted to you.” Megan said with a smirk while trying to kiss Yoonchae on the cheek.
“Yes it is, and I don't need you to tell me that. Your face is easy to read and you have heart eyes.” Yoonchae responded while dodging her girlfriend's attempt— thinking that’ll shut Megan up enough that she'll stop.
“Whatever, just say you don't love me.” Megan said, she gave up and sunk into the couch. Yoonchae laughed and rolled her eyes at the older girl.
“You know, I think the fans are right calling you a little puppy.” Yoonchae told her before she lifted Megan's head and kissed her. Megan wanted to say something in response but got too caught up in the kiss to care. Megan pulled Yoonchae closer by her hips, making the blonde straddle her lap while deepening their kiss.
“Meg, the girls are coming over in like thirty minutes.” Yoonchae said, pulling away from the kiss, simultaneously attempting to get off her girlfriend's lap. Megan was two steps ahead of her because she tightened her grip on Yoonchae's waist, leaving no room for her to escape.
“Okay then we have twenty five minutes,” Megan responded with a bright and mischievous smile spreading across her face. Yoonchae was going to argue but she couldn’t— not when Megan was looking at her like that. She rolled her eyes again before pulling Megan into another kiss.
What the two girls didn't know was that Manon had texted Yoonchae that she was going to be early because she had already been in the area and wanted to catch up one on one. Yoonchae's phone was faced down on the coffee table with her ringer off, oblivious to the fact Manon was in fact already close to her apartment. The door had been left unlocked considering they were expecting company soon so nothing was in their favor.
Yoonchae had laced her fingers through Megan's hair while her tongue had slipped into Megan's mouth, making Megan let out a small sigh against her. Megan's hands were running up and down Yoonchae's body as she continued kissing her, the two of them getting completely lost in the moment. Megan had broken from the kiss and was now placing small kisses along Yoonchae’s neck when all of sudden she heard the door swing open.
They didn't move fast enough, in fact, they moved pretty slowly because Yoonchae didn’t initially hear anything. She only heard Megan gasp and had assumed it was just Megan being Megan. She only realized when she heard Manon behind her.
”Oh my god?!” Manon shouted from the doorway and immediately started freaking out. “What the HELL did I miss? Oh my god, I can never look at you guys the same.” She shouted and covered her eyes, pacing Yoonchae's living room.
Yoonchae was now sitting on the opposite end of the couch completely embarrassed and humiliated. Megan, on the other hand, was sitting on the other end of the couch and laughing hysterically.
“Manon, we’re sorry, please sit down and stop screaming.” Yoonchae finally worked up the courage to say after two minutes of Manon repeatedly screaming oh my god and laughing.
“Genuinely, what have I missed? Do the girls know too?” Manon asked, finally relatively calm and sitting on Yoonchae's chair next to the couch.
“No, no one knows. Well, no one besides you now.” Megan answered and watched the oldest girl's face change into confusion.
“We wanted to keep it a secret for a while, it's a more recent development.” Yoonchae added as she watched the shock leave Manon’s face.
Manon took a minute to respond but when she did, the two could tell it was extremely genuine. “I get it, trust me. Don't worry I won’t say anything when they get here. Maybe some jokes,” Manon said, her reassuring tone quickly changing to teasing. Both younger girls huffed in annoyance but accepted their fate as there was no way of getting around the inevitable.
“Oh come on, that was going to happen regardless. It’s not like you two were ever secretive. Now, tell me how it happened and give me some general updates on things I’ve missed behind the scenes.” Manon said smiling and getting up from her spot on the chair to sit between the girlfriends.
Megan and Yoonchae told her the whole rundown of their great confession— including all the build up and their own points of views on the situation. They told Manon stories from rehearsals, how management has been cracking down, and had her catch them up on her life. It was nice to have some time with just the three of them before everyone else showed up.
The other three girls arrived shortly after that with everything that was going to occupy them for the night. Sophia and Dani arrived together bringing drinks while Lara brought the food.
Manon kept her word, she did not say a word besides the occasional joke that everyone usually made about their dynamic. There were a few times where she would glance at Megan and Yoonchae if they were too close and just laugh— enough for the girls to look at her weird but not enough for them to grill her about it. One thing that did get brought up during the night was when Yoonchae and Megan left the party early and Megan didn't come home that night.
“I am telling you guys, I was feeling sick and Yoonchae genuinely offered to help.” Megan said, trying her best to maintain her poker face. Manon knew what really happened since they explained it to her before the other girls got there but acted clueless and stayed silent.
“I just can’t find it in myself to believe you two when Megan definitely did not look sick two minutes before you left.” Dani said laughing while Sophia and Lara nodded and agreed. Megan and Yoonchae tried to defend themselves but were getting more nervous that they weren’t as discreet as they thought (they never are). So, Manon took it upon herself and helped them out.
“I know I wasn't there but Megan actually called me that day and mentioned feeling a little sick,” Manon said with a shrug. “She told me she was debating on even going.” The three interrogators looked taken aback but it ultimately shut the conversation down. Later that night, before Manon left, Megan and Yoonchae thanked her.
“Of course, and I know that when you tell the other girls they’ll be just as supportive. Take your time though, no rush.” Manon said while giving them a hug and then leaving behind their other members.
The next one of the girls to find out was Lara two days later. Coincidentally, it was the Fourth of July and the three of them had plans to watch fireworks at Lara's family's house. Sophia and Dani weren’t able to come so it was just going to be the three of them for the night. Yoonchae and Megan would be grateful for that later.
Lara didn't find out by them being super affectionate at her house, that would be better than what actually happened. It was two hours before Lara’s family's party at her house was supposed to start. Megan was already there because she had nothing else to do and she’d figure she could help set up. Yoonchae had an appointment to go to before coming, Missy being Missy had scheduled her a million things to do on a holiday.
Megan was laying stomach down on Lara's bed while she showered, her back to the bathroom. It wasn't her best idea but she hadn’t realized that in the moment. Yoonchae was in between her errands, giving her and Megan approximately fifteen minutes to text back and forth. They were texting each other couple-y things like how much they missed each other and how they couldn't wait to see each other later that day.
Megan was giggling at a text from Yoonchae and forgot that she needed to be nonchalant when not in the safety of their respective apartments. One thing she hadn’t realized while laughing was how Lara had entered her room very quietly, suddenly interested in who Megan could possibly be texting.
Lucky or unlucky for Megan—it's undecided on which it is— Yoonchae's name in her phone wasn't Yoonchae or anything identifying. It was just ‘baby🪽’. That only peeked Lara's interest more because Megan hadn’t told her she was seeing someone new.
Lara could say she had a few suspicions, either one of the new guys she was always getting rumored with, or Yoonchae. Megan had expressed to her a couple times how she had felt for Yoonchae but hadn’t updated her recently, which Lara assumed she'd do if something were happening.
The profile picture wasn’t an indicator either, she was just too far away for it to be anything but a blob above the contact name. The most recent message from Megan's “mystery” lover was talking about how much they missed her and wanted to see her. Lara tried leaning in closer but finally Megan felt a presence behind her and immediately turned around and hid her phone.
“Who’s ‘baby’ and why do I not know about them?” Lara questioned immediately, now getting on the bed with Megan, still seeing the light of her phone glowing behind her hands.
“No one! You just read it wrong, it said um— Billy! That’s my cousin, remember?” Megan said frantically with guilt written all over her face— lacking any confidence in what she just said.
“Cut the shit, just let me see!” Lara said with a deadpan but now kinda offended that Megan wouldn't tell her. She started reaching to grab the phone but Megan noticed her moving and started backing up towards the wall, still on the bed.
“No! It’s just Billy!” Lara laughed hard at the fact she was still trying to go with that lie while plotting her next move. Megan's fear only grew as she watched Lara back up and then jump right on top of her.
“Megan if you don’t just let me see the phone right fucking now, I’ll call Bala in here!” Lara said, already wrestling and tackling Megan for her phone. Megan could only grunt and scream no in response, trying to push the older girl off of her. She failed. She failed horribly because Lara pinned her hands above her head, grabbed her phone, and ran to lock herself in the bathroom. Somehow, unbeknownst to either of them, Megan's phone had stayed unlocked. Even if it didn't, Lara knew her password, it was literally 1234.
“Lara, I swear to god, unlock the door!” Megan shouted from outside the door while twisting and pulling the handle. Lara took a few breaths because even though she won, it doesn’t mean Megan didn’t put up a fight.
Lara looked at the messages, not too closely in case she saw something she didn't want to see, but it was all stuff she had already seen from over Megan's shoulder. The person's profile picture wasn't much of an indicator either— it was just a photo of a cat. So Lara did the only reasonable thing she could think of to get the answer she wanted. She face-timed the number.
“Megan? You know I have to go back soon before Missy—” Yoonchae picked up after two rings and immediately started speaking, only to stop when she saw Lara's face on the screen instead of Megan's. Her jaw was on the floor.
“BABY IS YOONCHAE?” Lara screamed while a flustered and confused Yoonchae looked back at her. She turned around and unlocked the door, only to be faced with a defeated Megan.
“Give me my phone, Lara.” Megan said with no real bite to it, reaching for the phone in Lara's hand. Lara pulled it away while she decided if she should really be this shocked or not. She landed on yes because they should’ve told her.
“What is happening?” Yoonchae asked through the phone, even though she thinks she has an idea of what the situation at hand is.
“Your ‘baby’, that's what's happening.” Lara told Yoonchae and finally handed it back to its rightful owner.
“Lara is NOSY and read our messages over my shoulder. Then she decided to jump on me, grab my phone, and call you to figure out who you were. So she knows.” Megan elaborated, while shooting Lara a death glare.
“Hey, you could’ve made it a whole lot easier and just told me when I asked. It would've saved us both a couple bruises.” Lara responded, earning a laugh from Yoonchae. “Sorry Yoonch, I didn't mean to be invasive.”
“You literally stole MY phone—”
“Is your name Yoonchae? I'm sorry to HER, not you.” Lara retorted back before Megan could even finish her sentence.
“Now now, children.” Yoonchae cut through before things got heated again. “It’s fine, Lara. You would've found out eventually.”
“I’d hope so,”
“Moving on, we can talk about this later or Megan can tell you everything now. I have to go before Missy overhears this conversation and then we’d have bigger problems.”
Lara and Megan said their goodbyes before spending the next thirty minutes talking about how they came to be and how Manon found out. Lara was caught up in how she could’ve missed it but all the little things she had been picking up on in the last few weeks had finally started to make sense.
When Yoonchae finally arrived at Lara's house she faced the same teasing Megan had been receiving for well over an hour. Lara spent the entire night making fun of them when no one else was paying attention but deep down she was really happy that it worked out for them.
As they were watching the fireworks out in the backyard, Lara snuck away and took pictures of the two of them from behind. She sent them later that night in a group chat with just the three of them, attached with a heartfelt message.
You’d think Megan and Yoonchae would be hyper aware of their actions by this point but they in fact got sloppier. Maybe they wanted their last two members to know or maybe they didn't. Whether it was truly an unfortunate accident or the two of them deciding not to care anymore, Sophia and Daniela found out two days after Lara did.
They had another day off, it was in order to prepare for WILD and tour where they would constantly be busy and traveling with barely any time for breaks. Yoonchae and Megan had spent the day in Yoonchae's apartment staying in bed and doing nothing for six consecutive hours.
Lara and Manon had made plans after the former texted her saying she knew of Megan and Yoonchae's secret escapades, they made it with the intention of debriefing just the two of them. Yoonchae and Megan had their own thoughts on their hang out but decided not to share those with them at the time.
Yoonchae and Megan weren’t sure what Sophia and Dani were doing but they assumed they were doing adult things like running errands and going grocery shopping. That was until Sophia FaceTimed Yoonchae while Megan was showering.
“Hey, what's up?” Yoonchae asked when she answered the phone, she was laying in bed with her back to the bathroom. This meant her phone was in direct eyesight of the bathroom, clearly she didn't learn the lesson from last time.
“Nothing much, just doing stuff for the house. What about you?” Sophia said brightly, she was sitting at the island in her kitchen, her phone positioned closely to her face.
“Nothing really either, I haven't left my bed all day.” Yoonchae admitted, watching how Sophia smiles as she speaks.
“Well if you want to get out of bed in a few hours, me and Dani want to go out for dinner,” at the mention of her name, Daniela appeared on the screen next to Sophia. Yoonchae wonders when she got there and has her suspicions on them too, but doesn't voice them.
“Please say yes, Yoonchae! We want to hang out more outside of work like we used to. Plus, if it helps you make your decision, we planned on asking Megan too.” Dani said with a teasing grin. Yoonchae rolled her eyes and sighed at the older girls. She was weighing the pros and cons of going and trying to mentally figure out if Megan would even want to go. It’s like her girlfriend could sense she was thinking about her because Megan emerged from the bathroom.
“Chae, did I leave any spare underwear here? I forgot to bring some when packing yesterday.” Megan asked mindlessly walking into the room, she was in just a towel. Yoonchae's face dropped and panic set in, but she was too late to attempt to mute and turn the camera off.
“Is that MEGAN?” Dani shouts from the other side of the phone. “In a towel in YOUR room?!” It’s at this time Megan glanced towards the bed and was met with Yoonchae's awkward and embarrassed face. Her eyes then landed on Yoonchae's phone where screaming could be heard at full volume.
“Not again.” Megan complained, her hand flying to her forehead while she laughed to herself. Yoonchae had finally remembered to turn her phone away from the half of the room Megan was standing in.
“Oh my god, we knew something was up but I did not want to find out this way!” Daniela said she was pacing around behind Sophia who had her hands over her eyes.
“Guys, can we all just calm down please.” Megan shouted through the phone. Yoonchae sighed and rubbed her hand over her face. This was the worst way they could’ve possibly found out.
“No, I can't calm down Megan. I just saw you —in a towel— in Yoonchae's room for god knows what reason. This actually wouldn't be that crazy with anyone else but it's you two.” Sophia shrieked right back to Megan. In the midst of all the drama and panic, Megan decided to just go commando and get dressed so she doesn’t have to shout.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Megan questioned, now sitting down next to Yoonchae in her bed.
“You guys already drool all over each other thinking you're secretive in front of us when you're clothed, I don't need any accidental visuals of when you aren’t.” Sophia said to which Dani shook her head in agreement violently behind her.
“Okay, that's enough. Me and Megan are dating but nothing was going on before this phone call. She just went to shower and that is it.” Yoonchae interrupted before Megan could reply.
“Wait, you guys are actually DATING dating?” Dani asked while her and Sophia's previous horrified frowns were getting replaced with smiles.
“Yes, now we’ll explain everything at the restaurant. Text me where we’re meeting and when,” Yoonchae stated simply.
“Nu uh, you guys cannot leave us hanging like that!” Sophia tried to argue but was cut off by Yoonchae again.
“I can and I am, bye we will see you later!” Yoonchae then hung up the phone and looked at Megan.
“We probably should’ve just told them at the start, or even when Manon found out.” Megan said, leaning her head on Yoonchae's shoulder.
“Probably, but it's too late now.”
Megan had texted Lara to bring Manon and meet them at the restaurant Sophia and Daniela had picked out. The six of them met up not long after that, Sophia and Daniela were freaking out without any details or any information at all really.
They spent the rest of the day giving the two girls a rundown of the last few weeks regarding their relationship, just like they had twice before. Manon and Lara added their own commentary on when and how they found out. Somehow they all ended up back at Yoonchae's apartment, laying in her living room with a movie playing that no one was really watching.
“I hope you guys know I'm really happy for you, we all are.” Sophia said, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled.
“Yeah, it was initially a shock just because of the towel but I genuinely am so glad you guys have each other." Dani added as she lifted her head off Sophia's lap to look up at Megan and Yoonchae.
“I'm sure Lara and Manon would agree but they are preoccupied at the moment,” Sophia said giggling and pointed to where the two girls were currently sleeping on the floor. Yoonchae joined her and Megan took out her phone to take a picture, they’d both want a photo of this later.
The four girls stayed up a little longer just talking about nothing in particular until Daniela drifted off to sleep in Sophia's lap, the latter following not too far behind her.
After confirming that everyone else was sound asleep in the living room, Yoonchae and Megan snuck into the blonde's room. There wasn't enough room for the six of them to lay comfortably, or that was the excuse they’d give the girls in the morning when they went looking for them.
“I’m glad they know you're mine,” Megan said with a huge smile on her face while wrapping her arms around Yoonchae.
“Me too,” Yoonchae smiled just as big back and kissed her girlfriend softly on the forehead before kissing her on the lips.
