Work Text:
Frank took a slow deep breath, making sure to ground himself. If he wanted to try to hold up his friends, then the teen needed to be a strong foundation. The breathing techniques that he learned from yoga really did come in handy. Once Frank knew he was ready, he took a simple step forward. Forming his hand into a fist, the teen gently knocked against the cabin door.
A soft sniffle echoed from inside, followed by a wave of heavy silence. Frank took another deep breath. He was trying to keep himself from forcing an entrance, despite his bubbling sense of worry. The demi god decided to instead, try knocking for a second time.
“Hey, Haze, can I come in,” He spoke up, keeping a steady pace, “It’s me Frank.” The teen knew that Hazel knew his voice, but he was also aware her mind could fog over when stressed. There was no point in taking useless risks, taking chances out of laziness. Well especially when it was with someone he cared for, so much in his heart.
“...Come in…” Hazel quietly called out, just loud enough for him to hear. She didn’t get up to open the door herself, refusing to budge an inch from the safety of her bed. Two separate blankets were draped over her, as if she was trying to hide away from the world.
Frank entered the Pluto cabin, though it basically served as Hazel’s personal cabin. Sometimes Nico would claim a bed when visiting. Though those moments felt more like giant extended sleep overs. That's just how it went, when separated by godly parents. Those that belonged to the big three, at camp Jupiter, or at camp halfblood, got a lot of spare room.
He gently sat on a nearby spare bed, wanting to allow Hazel some space. His eyes drafted over to the small stack of crumpled up band posters that filled up the small waste basket. Frank’s heart couldn’t help, but break into small pieces. He remembered how she carefully had put each of them up, a few weeks ago.
“I heard from the others that you aren’t going to the concert anymore.” Frank stated, keeping his words clear and easy to understand. There was a soft sense of concern and care in his eyes, as the demigod looked her way.
“There will be a lot of people there. With me, and Percy both there, a monster is bound to show up. I don’t want to ruin something, that should be a wonderful time. It's just best for everyone if I stay here. I don’t want to be a curse to anyone again.” Hazel admitted. It was clear that she still wanted to go, yet something was holding her back.
“Hey, you know whatever happens it will be okay. Not only will the mist cover things, we all have handled worse things than run of the mill monster raids. I have no doubt we can handle ourselves. The other thing I know for certain, is that you are not a curse Haze.” Frank reassured her, offering his warmest smile.
Hazel stayed quiet, not speaking up again in response. She stayed huddled under her comforting bedding. However, a small smile did pierce through all the doom and gloom. He could always find a way to brighten her day.
“How about this?” Frank began to offer, “If you get too panicked we can find a Dennys, or something, and watch the concerts live stream there. That way we got a safety net, and you don’t completely miss it.”
“...Yes please…” Hazel quickly answered. She shook off her blanket cocoon, and jumped out of the bed. The teen ran over to Frank, tackling him into a tight hug.
