Team Seven had been taught that proximity was tactical.
Stay within range. Watch each other’s backs. Learn each other’s habits well enough to anticipate a movement before it happens. It was excellent advice, provided nobody became curious about its finer implications.
Knowing a teammate well was supposed to mean recognising their footsteps in the dark, not knowing which shampoo they used, how they took their tea, or exactly how long a silence could stretch before it became sulking.
The distinction would, in time, prove rather important.
An aged-up retelling of the original series, with canon used as a map rather than a set of instructions. This would be more reassuring if any of them could be trusted with directions.
