Summary
Mike trudged through the forest, cold and frustrated and alone. He stepped over vines, careful and slow while yelling out the names of Holly and Eleven. His flashlight illuminated through the trees. It was terrifying to think this is what lurked beneath their feet this entire time. Mike knew who he was looking for. He had a tangible goal yet his mind drifted. It always drifted. Is this where Will had ended up? Maybe he was still here. Stuck. All these years. Mike didn't know if the thought was comforting or terrifying.
It didn’t help that Hopper had mentioned some weird activity on his crawls. How the upside down was supposed to be deserted, stuck on November 6th 1983. The day he disappeared. Yet some things seemed out of place. Like there was someone living down here. They had summed it up to the recent military activity, but there was a twinge of hope sparking in the back of Mike's brain. Irrational and probably stupid. It had been four years. There was no food here. No water. How would he have survived?
