"You're weird."
Woonhak should really finish the worksheet in front of him.
He had ended up in detention for a stupid reason (long story), and he didn't want to make things worse by not finishing the task given to him. Although his grades often weren't the best, he wasn't one to get himself into detention. Woonhak was a well-behaved boy, really.
That probably couldn't be said about the guy seated at the desk to his left, the only other person sitting through detention with him. Even the teacher had excused herself, telling them to drop off their papers in the teachers' office themselves at the end of the hour.
So it was just Woonhak and him.
The other boy had this reckless, rebellious air to him, lounging in his chair with a relaxed posture and a bored expression as he lazily scribbled onto his own worksheet. Somehow, Woonhak doubted that he was writing anything useful.
Woonhak didn't really know the boy well because they weren't in the same class and weren't in any clubs together either, but he did happen to know that his name was Han Taesan. And he also knew that Taesan was weird. Why?
Well, a few weeks ago, Woonhak had witnessed something. It happened at the school's annual summer festival at the end of June. Woonhak had walked along the colourful stalls, weaving through the crowd of people in search of his friend group, which he had lost after getting distracted at a random shooting booth. That's when he saw him. Taesan was standing beneath a tree somewhere behind a food stall, pressing another boy against the trunk and practically eating his face off. Woonhak's eyes nearly popped out of his head, and he let out an audible gasp. Luckily, Taesan and the other dude were too caught up in what they were doing, so they didn't catch Woonhak gaping at them before he quickly turned on his heel and ran away.
Yeah, that's how he came to his conclusion.
He was weird.
Taesan suddenly straightened, turning to look at him so fast that Woonhak wasn't able to look away in time. Great, now the other boy had caught him staring a judgy hole into the side of his head.
"And what made you think that?" Taesan asked with an amused expression, scanning Woonhak up and down once.
Shoot, Woonhak thought, groaning internally. Did I say that out loud just now?
He absolutely hadn't meant to voice his thoughts, but now that they were out there... he might as well elaborate.
"I saw you kiss a boy," he explained, as if it were obvious where his comment came from, frowning at the memory. "That's weird."
Taesan remained still for a second, then the corner of his mouth curled upward into a smirk. He leaned a bit closer, until his upper body hung in the space between their desks. "Oh, is it now?"
Woonhak leaned back slightly to restore the distance between them. "Yeah!"
"So you've never kissed a boy?"
Woonhak gaped at him incredulously. "Obviously not."
Taesan tilted his head. "Why not?"
Woonhak frowned again. This Taesan-dude was getting weirder by the minute. Wasn't it obvious? "Because... boys don't do that?" he replied, making it sound more like a question. This conversation was confusing.
Taesan's expression shifted into something challenging then. "Says who?"
"Says..." Woonhak trailed off. He didn't really find an answer to that. The truth was... nobody had ever specifically told him boys couldn't kiss boys. It was just something he'd always understood. Boys liked girls. Girls liked boys. That was how it worked. Right?
He'd once had a girlfriend himself, after all. Back in middle school. They hadn't ever done anything more than hold hands, but it was nice. He'd liked her, too. Probably. At least, he'd liked having a girlfriend and being able to brag about it to his classmates. That had to count for something.
"How do you know you wouldn't like it?"
The question caught Woonhak off guard. Taesan looked at him intently, like he was actually expecting an answer, and suddenly Woonhak wasn't so sure anymore. How did he know?
Woonhak looked up as Taesan unexpectedly rose from his seat and stepped over, halting right in front of him.
He hastily got up too to be at eye level with Taesan again, scrambling to find something to say. "I-"
"Wanna find out?" Taesan interrupted before he got the chance to even form half a sentence inside his mind, taking another step towards him until there was barely any distance left.
Woonhak stared at the other with slightly narrowed eyes, trying to figure out what he was getting at. "...How?" he asked carefully, fighting to stand his ground instead of stepping out of the close proximity.
Taesan's gaze shifted down until it landed on his lips. "Hm... Like this," he said, leaning just a fraction closer.
Woonhak froze up like an icicle, too shocked to move away. He couldn't possibly mean- could he?!
Taesan moved closer still, meeting his eyes once more before quickly dropping his gaze again.
Woonhak curled his fists into his uniform pants when he felt Taesan's warm breath hitting his face, but he still didn't move an inch. What had he done to get himself into this?! He could still step back, and he probably should, too. But... he didn't. Instead, he closed his eyes, suddenly feeling oddly curious about just what would happen if he remained still.
All he could hear was Taesan's calm breathing and his own heart pounding in his ears. When had it even started beating this fast??
Just a couple of seconds later, he felt Taesan's lips touching his own. They were a bit chapped, maybe a little rougher than a girl's lips would be (not that he could know)... but they were also warm as they settled over his own. A strange sensation spread through Woonhak's body then, one that made him lean a bit closer instinctively, closing some of the remaining gap between their bodies.
Taesan smiled against his lips, as if he were pleased by Woonhak's response, pulling away shortly after.
Woonhak blinked his eyes open slowly, feeling a bit dizzy, his face growing hot. He ran his tongue across his bottom lip, trying to process what had just happened.
That was weird. But... not the bad kind of weird? Actually...
A satisfied smirk spread on Taesan's face, and he raised a hand to brush his fingers against Woonhak's heated cheek. "That wasn't so bad, was it?"
Woonhak shook his head absently, gaze catching on Taesan's lips again before he could stop himself. They looked... pretty, a little wet now, even though their kiss had barely been more than just a peck. He quickly looked away, only to find himself glancing back a second later. Why was he doing that?
Taesan's eyes seemed to darken when he noticed, and he let his hand trail down from Woonhak's cheek to his chest, pushing him back until he was leaning against his desk.
Woonhak let himself be pushed, sitting down on the desk and looking up at Taesan expectantly. When they were standing, they were about the same height, but now he had to raise his head slightly to make eye contact.
Somehow, that was exciting. All of this was.
Taesan brought both hands up and placed them against Woonhak's sides deliberately, pulling their bodies a little closer again. Woonhak let it all happen without a single complaint, raising his own arms to curl his fingers into Taesan's unbuttoned blazer.
Before Woonhak could second-guess himself for letting all of this happen, he took the initiative and pulled Taesan in again to connect their lips once more.
Taesan's hands tightened at his waist briefly before he tilted his head and pressed closer into Woonhak. Immediately, their kiss turned into something completely different from the first one.
Woonhak gasped when Taesan went to suck on his bottom lip, taken aback by the unfamiliar sensation. That didn't stop him from trying his best to return the older boy's sudden fervor, though, the wet sound of their lips meeting filling the room as he kissed back messily.
Raising his arms up further, he crossed them behind Taesan's head, one hand burying itself into the older boy's jet-black hair.
A low sound from Taesan slipped into their kiss when Woonhak tugged at some of the strands lightly, making him feel even warmer inside.
His mind was slowly turning hazy, but there was one thought that rose up in his head. Or maybe a feeling. This was amazing.
When Woonhak felt Taesan's tongue prodding at his lips, he made a sound in the back of his throat that startled him so much he almost pulled away. Almost.
Instead, he parted his lips further, allowing Taesan the entrance he was clearly asking for. The older boy pushed his tongue into Woonhak's mouth, eliciting another choked sound from him when it came into contact with his own.
It was overwhelming, to say the least, but Woonhak kept trying his best to respond to every one of Taesan's movements despite how new this all was to him.
He didn't think about the fact that they were in a classroom, and that someone could walk in on them at any moment if they were unlucky, solely focusing on the feeling of Taesan's warm mouth pressing into his own.
They only pulled apart when the sharp noise of the bell above the door rang through the room, signaling the end of the hour. Woonhak startled a bit at the noise, but he still blinked his eyes open rather reluctantly, not wanting to let go of the moment just yet.
Taesan was already looking back at him, his eyes glinting smugly. Woonhak gulped as he looked down at the older boy's now moist, reddened lips, still trying to process what had happened over the past few minutes.
He watched as those lips curved into a satisfied smile, Taesan playfully nudging his chin up with one hand. "You're cute, I like you."
Woonhak couldn't help but blush at the statement, biting his lip in embarrassment. He'd never been called cute by a guy before. At least not like this.
Taesan laughed - not in a mean way - then took a step back and let go of Woonhak, who slowly slid off the table.
The older boy turned around to quickly scribble something into the bottom corner of the worksheet on his desk.
He didn't seem to give a fuck about the fact that they still needed to submit those papers, swiftly ripping the piece he'd written on off and handing it over to Woonhak.
"Text me if you want more," he said with a mischievous expression, throwing Woonhak a wink before grabbing the rest of his worksheet and dashing out of the room.
Woonhak stood there with his arms hanging down his sides, staring at where Taesan had disappeared.
His first kiss had just been taken by a boy.
Surprisingly... Woonhak didn't mind nearly as much as he thought he might (not that he ever thought about kissing a dude before today). The opposite, even.
Because now that Woonhak had gotten a taste of Taesan's lips, he wasn't so sure if he even wanted to kiss a girl anymore.
