Work Text:
Peter had woken up that morning feeling like crap.
He had been really tired the night before but had chalked it up to overdoing it a bit on patrol. He should’ve taken it for the red flag that it was that he might be getting sick.
His throat burned, his nose was sniffly, and his head throbbed. He was cold and achy and he really wanted to just go back to sleep. Which he would have done under normal circumstances. It was Saturday so he didn’t have school and it was early. Except the reason he was currently awake was because something woke him up. Specifically his phone woke him up.
He fumbled blindly around for the source of the sound, his Imperial March ringtone he usually loved aggravating his already aching brain. His hand eventually closed over the rectangular device and he didn’t even bother checking who it was before he brought it to his ear.
“Lo’?” Peter winced as the single syllable scraped against his throat, the word coming out broken.
“Yikes, sorry to wake you up on your weekend kiddo, but we got a situation.” Tony said and immediately Peter sat up feeling much more awake. He pulled the phone away from his face and cleared his throat before he responded.
“It’s ok, what’s going on?” Peter asked and while it still hurt, his voice didn’t crack as bad. He still sounded raspy but that couldn’t be helped. Unfortunately Peter forgot Tony could be just as bad as May when it came to sensing something was wrong with him.
“You sound weird. You feeling ok?” Of course the man was somehow already suspicious of him.
“Mr. Stark I was literally just asleep, of course I sound weird.” Peter dismissed easily and was proud of himself for giving an actual reasonable answer. He must be getting better at this whole lying thing. “Anyway, why did you call? Is there a mission?” Generally when Peter asked that question he was silently hoping the answer was yes. This time however he was really hoping that Tony had just lost his favorite screwdriver again or something.
Of course nothing could ever go Peter’s way regardless of the outcome he wanted. Good ole Parker Luck™ for ya.
“Yeah you could say that. Listen, I need you to suit up and get here as soon as you can, alright?” Tony said and Peter already resigned himself to not getting any more sleep today. “Karen can tell you where to go and give you a rundown of what’s going on.”
“Got it, I’ll be right there, Mr. Stark.” Peter promised and Tony didn’t bother responding before hanging up. Peter sighed and forced himself to stand up. Immediately he felt a rush of dizziness strong enough he had to sit back down for a second. Ok well that’s not ideal. Peter thought, shaking his head a little to clear it before standing up again but a little slower this time.
His sinuses felt like they were all overstuffed, the pressure weighing on his entire face. He ignored it for the moment, throwing his discarded clothes around his room until he found his suit from where he’d left it partially under his bed. Something Tony would probably skin him alive for if he found out about it. He was always telling him not to leave the multimillion dollar suit lying around.
Peter made quick work of pulling his pajamas off and tossing them onto his bed before pulling his suit on, hitting the center to get it to tighten around him. He held off on pulling the mask on just yet as he walked out to the bathroom. It was about 5 AM so May was probably at work which was good because it meant she wasn’t there to catch Peter digging through their medicine cabinet.
It didn’t take him long to find what he was looking for. They were out of pill cold medicine but they still had a bottle of liquid DayQuill. Gross. Peter thought with a grimace but he was short on time and options so he quickly skimmed the instructions on the back before deciding they were useless for helping him figure out a dose for his enhanced self and just guessed. He took the lid off and chugged about a third of it down, gagging the moment the taste hit the back of his throat but swallowing it down nonetheless.
He recapped the bottle and put it back in the cabinet, making a mental note to get more when he was at the store next. Hopefully that should kick in soon. Peter thought as he went back to his room to exit out his window, yanking his mask on as he shot off a web.
“Good morning, Peter. It’s quite early for a Saturday.” Karen greeted and Peter huffed a laugh. Even his AI knew this was a cruel time to wake up a teenager on the weekend.
“Yeah, I know. Can you plot me the fastest course to Mr. Stark please?” Peter asked and already a little blue path lit up on his HUD.
“Of course. This route should let you arrive in about four and a half minutes.” She replied and Peter coughed a bit into his shoulder as he made his next flip before catching himself again. “You appear to be running a fever of 101.5. Would you like me to inform Mr. Stark?”
“What?! No!” Peter shouted a bit too loud, nearly missing his next web before barely correcting in time. “Why would I want that?”
“A fever of that level is considered to be a moderate-grade fever. Recommended treatment is bedrest, hydration, and over the counter fever reducers.” Karen recited duitily and Peter sighed.
“That’s great Karen but it doesn’t really answer why I would want to tell Mr. Stark.” Peter said, trying to gently remind her that was in fact not the question he asked. He had a feeling she knew that perfectly and was just being difficult on purpose.
“Well seeing as how swinging into combat is not part of the recommended treatment, I thought you might wish to inform Mr. Stark you need to stand back.” Definitely being difficult on purpose.
“I’m fine Karen. Don’t tell Mr. Stark alright?” Peter ordered and while he knew AI’s couldn’t be disappointed he’s pretty sure Karen’s tone was pretty close.
“Very well. I’ve taken the liberty of displaying your temperature in the upper left corner of your HUD. Just in case you decide you wish to monitor it properly.” She said and Peter grinned behind his mask at the not so subtle jibe.
“Is that sass I hear Kare-bear?” Peter asked with a laugh knowing full well it was. While Karen wasn’t as bad as FRIDAY, Tony had never made an AI that couldn’t match his wit on some level.
“I’m not sure what you mean.” She denied and Peter shook his head fondly as he finally caught sight of what it was he had been called to help with.
And boy what a sight it was.
“Hey Karen? What the shit are those?”
Up ahead Peter could already see a good portion of the Avengers engaged with what looked like hundreds of bug-like creatures with way too many legs and eyes with big glowing sacks of something on their backs and were each the size of buffalos. They reminded him of the Cy-bugs in Wreck-It Ralph but grosser because these ones he could clearly see were furry on their heads and scaly everywhere else.
“Those are Tryx.” Karen said as if that explained absolutely anything. Thankfully she must have known Peter was still just as lost as before because she kept going. “They are considered to be an invasive alien species whose only function is to reproduce and consume whatever it can before eventually reaching the end of it’s life cycle in roughly five to seven varks.”
“What the heck is a vark?” Peter asked, completely sure Karen had just made that word up.
“According to Thor, it can roughly be translated to about a month in Earth or ‘Midgradian’ terms.”
“Ok, so these things only live about six months and they spend that entire time just trying to eat everything?” Peter summed up, webbing one of the wretched things to the ground when it tried to fly up at him. Of course they have wings. Why wouldn’t they?
“They also spend considerable time laying eggs for breeding, but yes.” Karen corrected and Peter cursed as the webbed bug promptly exploded into disgusting looking purple goo. Apparently he hit it too hard.
“Right, how could I forget the breeding. Silly me.” Peter muttered as he rapidly shook off the bit of goo that had gotten on his foot. Ugh that’s nasty. He really hoped alien goo guts didn’t stain.
“Mr. Stark is enabling a connection through your comm.” Karen abruptly said, not even waiting for Peter to agree or even respond at all before putting the connection through.
“Kid!” Tony said and even through the commline Peter could hear the sounds of gun fire and more exploding Tryx. “Glad you’re here. Listen, we need you on civilian evacuation pronto. We’ve been trying to keep it contained to one area but there’s just too many of these things.” Peter could clearly see that Tony wasn’t exaggerating. Now that he was closer he could see the full view of the disaster. Iron Man and War Machine were flying around firing at a giant metal pod that looked sort of like an egg that was the size of a small building. It appeared to be where most of the creatures were coming from. A ship maybe?
He could see arrows and gunshots coming out at the Tryx from somewhere implying Black Widow and Hawkeye were somewhere nearby. Falcon was using his wings to slice through hoards of the creatures making them explode in more of the gross toxic looking goop, Captain America doing much of the same with his shield.
“Leave the mothership to us, you focus on clearing anyone you see out of the vicinity, got it?” Tony barked into his ear and Peter quickly refocused on the matter at hand.
“Got it. Get the civilians out, don’t worry about the mothership.” Peter dutifully repeated, jumping into action the moment he was close enough. He found himself pushing aside any and all discomfort he had as he moved through the chaos.
“Great, shout if you need a hand ok? And pull back if you start getting overwhelmed. I’ll be pissed if you quietly get trampled by these things.” Tony threatened but Peter knew the man just worried for him. Honestly Peter was just thrilled he had still called him to come help even though he clearly didn’t love the idea of Peter involved in the action. It proved he knew Peter could handle it.
“Copy that, Mr. Stark. No getting trampled.” Peter said and Tony didn’t respond past a hum, likely going back to concentrating on his own battle. That was fine with Peter. The last thing he wanted was for Tony to be distracted while getting swarmed by Cy-bug rip offs.
Assuming the ‘mothership’ was the giant egg-pod-thing, Peter stayed clear and beelined for the faint sounds of human screams he could hear.
For a while Peter was actually doing ok. Great even. He was holding his own against the hoards of Tryx and had evacuated a total of seventeen people to safety. And in between saving people he had taken out he doesn’t even know how many aliens. The medicine seemed to have helped enough for him to function.
But the longer the fight went, the worse Peter began to feel.
His symptoms of chills, aches, and pain all came back with a vengeance. His headache that had been a dull throb that morning was now a sharp stabbing pain. His moderately stuffy nose was now completely clogged and impossible to breathe through forcing him to mouth breathe behind his mask. The slight discomfort he got in his throat when swallowing had turned to be a constant lingering pain.
On top of this he was now beginning to experience some new symptoms. Nausea, dizziness, and he was starting to feel just a little foggy. That last one made him wonder if just maybe he took too much cold medicine.
He punched a Tryx hard enough to make it explode and immediately had to pause and catch his breath, hunching over with his hands on his knees while he panted roughly through his mouth. He thought he was gonna throw up for a second but it thankfully passed.
“Peter, your fever has risen to 102.7. If it reaches 103 I’ll be forced to alert Mr. Stark as per the Child Endangerment protocol.” Karen informed him and Peter probably should’ve been more concerned with his increasing temperature. Instead his fever-addled mind focused on the second half of that statement.
“The child-what protocol?” Peter had triggered many random protocols that all had horribly embarrassing names. Peter had also caused the creation of new ones. But that one wasn’t one he was familiar with.
“It is one of the more general protocols Mr. Stark put in for your safety. It would also trigger if you were to patrol more than twelve hours in a twenty-four hour period or to engage in a fight with more than five armed assailants.”
“Wow. Well that’s great, love that for me, seriously.” Peter mumbled sarcastically, more to himself than anything. He’d have to get Ned to help him mess with that one later.
“Peter, I think you should inform Mr. Stark of your illness.” Karen continued, not paying any mind to Peter’s rambling. “Your fever has already increased over a full degree in the last two hours and this level of continued activity could make it worse.” The more rational part of Peter’s brain recognized Karen had a point. The fact he already felt worse just proved he should not be out here.
Maybe I should tell Mr. Stark I have to pull back? Containment of the aliens was at over 80% according to Karen. The others would probably have the whole thing finished soon. And he’s pretty sure he’d gotten all the civilians out by now. And he felt so sick…
Oh quit whining, you’re fine. Avengers don’t take sick days. His self deprecating thoughts were enough to have him straighten back up. Captain America wouldn’t abandon a fight because of a little cold.
“I’m fine, Karen. I just needed a second.” Peter dismissed, trying to sound more sure than he felt. Even just the act of standing up all the way was enough to send a fresh wave of dizziness through his skull.
“Peter, I really think you should-“
The sound of someone screaming cut through the sounds of screeching bugs and was more than enough to get Peter back into gear.
“Karen, lead me to them!” Peter shouted only feeling a little guilty at cutting the AI off. If Karen’s feelings were hurt she didn’t show it, just automatically directing him a good distance away from the thick of the swarm where only a few Tryx were roaming around.
Upon getting closer Peter could see they were circling a car. More specifically they were circling the woman trapped inside.
“Hey, look over here!” Peter called and while he wasn’t sure if the things could actually understand him or not, the sound was at least enough to gain their attention as the three creatures turned toward him and screeched loud enough it probably would’ve hurt Peter’s head even if he hadn’t already been in pain.
The one that had been attempting to break through the windshield flew at him, mouth opening to reveal an array of gross looking teeth. Peter didn’t let it get close before he shot a web at it with both hands and harshly swung it down into the cement as hard as he could. At this point Peter was desensitized to the way it blew up in globs of purple sludge. The one trying to break in the driver side door was next, Peter didn’t bother waiting for it to charge before using a web to pull it forward and swinging it into the last remaining Tryx that had been hovering above the vehicle like some kind of vulture. He silently hoped these things weren’t capable of feeling pain as being turned into goop was probably not a nice way to go.
All bugs in the immediate vicinity taken care of, Peter approached the drivers side. It looked like a part of debris from one of the destroyed buildings had crushed the lower part of the door, pinning it closed. The window had been partially shattered and a terrified woman who couldn’t be older than 21 sat behind the wheel.
“Hi there, are you alright?” Peter greeted lightly, doing his best to sound friendly. The very short fight(if him throwing webs at overgrown cockroaches could be considered a fight)had greatly drained his already limited energy.
“I- um, I think so.” The woman said in response to his question and there were tears sliding down her face. She sounded a bit dazed and Peter really hoped it wasn’t shock setting in or something. He wasn’t super equipped to help with that. “I can’t- I can’t get out though, my buckle is stuck.” She explained, tugging at the belt in demonstration that sure enough didn’t budge.
“That’s alright! I’m gonna get you out ok?” Peter smiled at her even if he knew she couldn’t see his face. It was a lot easier to sound positive when he fully committed to it. “What’s your name?” Peter had been hoping to distract her a bit and calm her down. It worked somewhat because she blinked at him confused, but not afraid.
“Um, it’s Casey,” She replied, voice shaky and Peter nodded.
“Don’t you worry Casey. I’ll have this done in no time. You just hold still.”
“O-ok,” She definitely seemed upset but maybe it was just the adrenaline coming down making her seem out of it. Peter would make sure to drop her near the paramedics a few miles back, who were also helping with evacuations until Peter arrived and he had taken over, just to be safe.
Now to get her out. Peter thought and evaluated the door. The debris was a rather large slab of broken concrete that looked like it had probably been part of a parking garage at some point. After checking with Karen that nothing would fall and potentially hurt Casey if he moved things, he braced his hands against the least pointy end and gave it an experimentally tug. It was definitely heavy, but nothing he couldn’t handle so he very carefully lifted it up. He went slow just in case something started to break and kept an ear tuned into Casey for any sounds of pain in case he moved something he couldn’t see.
It took a minute, but he managed to heft it up and over, letting it crash harshly into the ground with a ground shaking thud. Casey gave a yelp in surprise from the force but she seemed fine. He smiled and stepped forward to work on the door next but wavered as a particularly strong rush of dizziness hit him, making him stumble on his next step. He almost fell but just managed to catch himself on the side of the car, hand braced against the door.
“Spider-Man? Are you ok?” Casey asked worriedly and Peter was quick to try and straighten up so as not to scare her.
“Yeah, yeah I’m fine,” He shook his head to clear it only sending sharp pains through his head. Still he had to get Casey free so he pushed his discomfort to the side and dug his fingers into the side of the door. The handle was completely crushed so it was useless. He mentally apologized for wrecking her car even more before he roughly pulled the door open. It broke off and fell to the ground, but it was out of the way letting Peter reach over and yank Casey’s seatbelt off. It came much easier than the door had.
Now that she was free, Peter offered her a hand to gently ease her out of the totaled vehicle and onto the ground. She was sort of trembling all over but she was steady on her legs. Peter had been about to ask if she would be alright if he picked her up, intending to swing her over to where he left the last batch of civilians with the medics, when the lingering nausea Peter had been feeling for the last hour suddenly forced its way to the front of his priority list. Very aggressively.
He barely had time to turn away from Casey and yank his mask off before he threw up all over the road.
“Oh my gosh, Spidey?!” Casey exclaimed in pure distress beside him, reaching out to put a hand on his back that Peter flinched from just slightly. His throat burned badly from the acid as he hadn’t actually eaten anything since the day before. “Is that blood?”
Casey’s question had Peter’s eyes snapping open(he hadn’t realized he’d even closed them) to see that sure enough, his vomit had a distinct reddish hue to it. He panicked for all of a second before he realized it wasn’t blood but in fact DayQuill turning his bile and orange stained color. Oh yeah I definitely took too much. He thought as he looked away from the nasty looking puddle before it could make him sick again.
“S’not blood,” Peter dismissed as he pulled his mask back over his chin. “It’s alright, I'm gonna swing you outta here, ok?”
“Peter, I don't advise you swing in your current condition. Especially with another person.” Karen spoke up but she sounded kinda funny. Peter belatedly realized it wasn’t her, but it was his ears ringing slightly making it sound off.
“‘M fine Karen,” Peter mumbled under his breath before fully turning back to Casey. She was eyeing him with open concern and slight skepticism. Apparently she wasn’t buying his act anymore than Karen was. “Um, sorry about that. Guess I ate some tainted street meat.” Peter attempted to joke but Casey didn’t look particularly convinced.
“You sound weird. Are you sick? Do spiders get sick?” Casey asked though Peter wasn’t sure if the last question was actually directed at him or if she was simply thinking aloud. Peter opened his mouth to once again explain he was perfectly fine and also wasn’t actually a spider, a Tryx decided that was the perfect time to land down in front of them and give a loud screech. Casey gasped and Peter didn’t hesitate to step forward to place himself between her and the alien. He wasn’t sure what he planned to do yet since he still wasn’t convinced he wouldn’t fall over. Maybe he could just puke on it and it would go away.
However Peter didn’t get to so much as twitch before the creature cut off mid scream and melted into a pile of goo. Huh? Peter blinked at the pile like he expected it to somehow get up again.
“Uh Karen?” Peter asked, utterly confused, not sure how to ask what the heck was going on without freaking Casey out. Thankfully Karen got the idea.
“Iron Man and the other Avengers have successfully destroyed the core of the mothership. Without it the Tryx cannot survive off of their home planet.”
“Oh. How does that work?”
“Unclear.”
“Cool.”
Peter decided not to question it if it meant the Tryx were just gonna take care of themselves now. Even if it made no sense to him how it worked. He was sure Mr. Stark probably already had a theory he intended to argue about with Thor so he’d just think about it then.
“Um, Spider-Man?” Casey spoke hesitantly and Peter quickly redirected his attention to her. “I think Hawkeye is coming over here?” Peter looked to where she was pointing and sure enough Hawkeye and Black Widow were jogging towards him.
“Oh, hey guys!” Peter greeted and hoped the super spies wouldn’t immediately out him on being in action while sick. “Heard we crushed the core? Or something?”`
“Yeah it was gross,” Clint confirmed as he stopped just in front of him casually. “Almost as gross as you puking your guts up on the side of the road.” Dangit. Ok so obviously Clint had seen Peter get sick earlier from wherever snipers perch he had been on. Wonderful. “Care to explain?” No.
“Come on,” Natasha said to Casey, gently taking her by the arm. “I’ll take you to the paramedics.” Casey glanced at Peter but when Peter gave her an encouraging thumbs up, she let herself be led away. The looks Nat sent Clint as she left had Peter’s stomach sinking for more than just his possible DayQuill overdose. He should have known. Natasha didn’t usually volunteer to deal with civilians or victims. She was trying to give Peter and Clint privacy. Likely so the man could tear into him with his interrogation without prying ears.
“Still waiting to hear why you're upchucking in the middle of a battle, kid.” Clint said, reminding Peter he had in fact been asked a question.
“It was nothing, Clint.” Peter tried to brush off but Clint just leveled him with a look. Specifically a Dad Look. Peter folded. “I just got a little sick is all. Probably too much flipping around. I feel all better though, really.”
“You sound stuffy.” Clint said as he eyed Peter critically, more or less acting like he hadn’t spoken.
“No I don’t.” Peter denied, voice definitely stuffy.
“Are you just sick? Were you already sick when you got here?” Clint continued to very accurately deduce and it had Peter feeling somewhat attacked.
“I’m not sick and I’m not stuffy!” Peter would deny to his dying day that he was whining. He was just…passionately stating facts. Yeah that’s what he was going with. Clint however was a father of three and knew whining when he heard it so he just clicked his tongue and did something truly awful.
“Hey Tony? Come get your kid, he’s sick.”
He snitched to Mr. Stark.
Almost instantly Tony’s voice came out over their comms.
“What? What do you mean ‘sick’?” He already sounded worried and Peter could tell from the sound of the thrusters that Tony had just abruptly changed directions to head their way. He was so screwed.
“Clint is exaggerating, I’m fine Mr. Stark.” Peter was going to deny it until it was literally impossible for him to do so. Unfortunately that point came far too quickly as Karen evidently finally reached her breaking point mere seconds later.
“Peter, your fever has officially reached 103. As per the Child Endangerment Protocol, I have notified Mr. Stark.” Peter didn’t even have the time to tell her not to, it was too late. Peter just closed his eyes and waited.
There was a long, long pause.
“Mr. Parker,”
Oh shit. He Mr. Parker’d me.
Mr. Parker was only ever used in two contexts: when Tony was joking, generally mocking Peter calling him Mr. Stark. Or: When Peter was in deep shit. Peter had the feeling Tony was not kidding.
“It seems we have something we need to talk about. Stay put, I’m coming to get you.”
Peter groaned and opened his eyes if only to send a scathing glare at Clint.
“I hope you're happy.” Peter sneered, the effect of his aggressive tone undermined by the way he was still in fact stuffy. Clint didn’t look bothered and just gave a loose shrug.
“Thrilled actually. I can rest easy knowing Mama Bear Stark has this situation handled.” So clearly Clint was incapable of feeling remorse. The man didn’t even stick around to see the situation he caused, walking away the moment Iron Man was in view.
Much too soon Iron Man was landing in front of them and near immediately stepped out of his suit and towards Peter.
“FRI, we clear?” Tony asked and Peter’s ears were still too iffy for him to hear whatever she said but it must have been positive because a second later Tony reached over and yanked Peter’s mask right off his face.
“Hey! Mr. Stark-!” Peter started to protest but Tony just shushed him, putting a hand against his forehead.
“You’re burning alive, Parker.” Tony tsked and Peter would’ve have felt more panicked about his face being exposed while he was in the suit but Tony’s cool hand actually felt really nice against his head. “And you look terrible. How sick were you when I called you?”
“Well I-“
“Actually don’t answer that, you’ll just lie. Karen, give me the run down.” Tony cut him off, stepping away from Peter to get back in his suit to see his vitals and other symptoms Karen had recorded since he put the suit on. Despite how upset the man clearly was at him, Peter still missed the contact once it was gone.
His face actually felt a lot better not being covered but unfortunately he knew he would eventually have to put it back on to swing home. He figured he’d get that discomfort over with now and pulled it back over his head.
“You at least sorta playing it down for me, K?” Peter asked quietly, already expecting her answer but still being disappointed when she crushed his hopes.
“I’m sorry Peter, Mr. Stark is simply looking at the results of your biometric logs rather than requesting my input so I’m afraid I am unable to ‘play it down’.” She at least had the kindness to sound regretful about it. “I informed him you were keeping track of your rising temperature but I’m not sure it helped your situation.” Peter would be willing to bet it didn’t. In fact he’d bet finding out Peter was actively aware he was getting worse and ignoring it did in fact make it worse but he knew Karen was trying to help so he forgave her.
A few seconds later he heard Tony give a deep sigh, the Iron Man mask once again retreating as he eyed Peter’s defeated self.
“Ok, I’m not going to waste time lecturing you how idiotic coming to a battle with a 102 fever is.” Tony said and Peter brightened just a little at hearing he wasn’t about to be yelled at. Standing still like this had really just made him realize how terrible he felt and he had not been looking forward to the killer lecture he knew Tony had prepped. “Don’t think you’re off the hook though, you’re getting it later.” Tony promised and honestly Peter was too tired to feel threatened. That was future Peter’s problem. Tony must have been able to tell Peter was mentally checking out because he sighed again and then opened his arms. “Right, come here. I’m taking you home to get proper treatment before your brain melts.”
That had a little bit of life coming back to Peter as he frowned.
“I don’t need to be carried Mr. Stark.” Peter argued and Tony just raised a challenging brow at him.
“If you think I’m letting you swing with a fever like that then clearly I’m too late and your brain is already a lost cause.” Tony gestured with his arms pointedly in a very clear ‘come here’ motion. “Now get over here or I’m coming over there but either way we are leaving in about thirty seconds.” Peter considered arguing, but then he quickly came to the conclusion there wasn’t any point and honestly just letting Tony take control of the situation sounded pretty good right about now. Besides, it would be more embarrassing to have the man snatch him up like a misbehaving cat than simply agreeing.
He stepped forward and the moment he was in arms reach Tony wrapped an arm around him and pulled him towards his chest with a muttered “Remember to stick to me” before he shot off into the sky.
Later, when Peter was given proper medication at an appropriate dose and his fever had dropped back to an acceptable range, Tony gave him an extensive lecture on why engaging in combat while compromised was one of the stupidest things someone could do and he was insanely lucky nothing bad happened. Tony also upgraded Karen’s protocols to inform him the moment Peter tried to use the suit with a temperature over a 100 to ensure something like today wouldn’t happen again which Peter felt was a bit much but the absolutely lethal look Tony gave him when he said as much kept him from protesting too much.
All in all it could’ve been worse and Peter was still glad he went to help.
That is, right up until Tony called Aunt May.
