Summary
The year was 1931.
The Great Depression left a trail of hardship that was felt around the world, and the Island of Sodor was no exception.
With little else to do, the drivers of the North Western Railway spend their days making small talk between deliveries and getting to know each other as if for the first time. Henry is back after his accident with the Kipper, but it seems that his time away has changed more than just his engine. Meanwhile, it’s that time of year when James has trouble sleeping, though no one really knows why.
Then, two brothers arrive from the Mainland, looking for work on the railway. Shortly afterward, strange things begin to happen. As questions pile up, James and Henry set out to discover what—or who—is behind it all.
