A Study in Ruin

Summary:

At Saint Aurelius University, intelligence is currency.

And Lestat Moreau intends to remain very, very wealthy.

Twenty years old, French, multilingual, brilliant, beautiful, and insufferably aware of all four, Lestat has spent years constructing himself into precisely the person everyone expects to envy. No one needs to know about the depression beneath the immaculate grades, the meals he doesn't eat, the memories he refuses to name, or the carefully concealed scars beneath his sleeves.

Then there is Atticus Bucken.

Twenty-one. History and philosophy. Quietly brilliant, irritatingly observant, and entirely uninterested in competing for anyone's approval.

Unfortunately, he is very interested in beating Lestat.

What begins as seminar arguments quickly becomes an academic war fought through grades, publications, annotated books, scholarships, passive-aggressive comments, and professors who seem far too entertained by putting them in the same room.

They cannot stand each other.

At least, that's what they keep saying.
