Work Text:
As Zeraphine finishes the last of her work, she spots a colorful flyer for an upcoming festival that is arriving in the inner city. The first thought she had was to invite Azaria, but she wasn't even sure if she liked those kinds of things. Since Azaria’s safety is an issue in the outskirts of the city, she wasn't sure if going to a festival such as that would compromise it. Zeraphine puts her paperwork away, and rushes out the door with glow in her eyes.

Zeraphine approaches the palace messenger room filled with petite faeries cluttering the room. All the faeries turn their full attention towards and greet her warmly.
“Lady Zeraphine! Welcome! What might you need assistance with?” One of the faeries peeps out.
“Good afternoon faeries, I was hoping I could write a letter and send it out to someone outside the palace?”
“Yes of course! Do you already have your letter prepared? If you do, just make sure the address is on there and we can deliver it immediately.”
Zeraphine quickly jots down the location and hands it off to the faerie.
“Alright, wonderful Lady Zeraphine! I hope you get a response as soon as you wish!”
The faerie flutters out the window and fades into the distance.

Azaria opens the letter as quickly as she possibly can and her eyes are absolutely exploding out of her sockets as she notices who it's from.
“Dear Azaria, I hope you are doing well!. I wanted to check in with you and see if you wanted to meet up with each other again. There is an interesting festival that is happening in the inner city near the palace, and I thought of you! I’m a little worried about your safety though, I truly don't want anything to happen to you. If you are uncomfortable with going out in public, you are always welcome to be in the palace, where I will guarantee your safety. I do hope you accept my request, and hopefully I will see you soon. - Zeraphine”
Azaria drops the letter. She then picks it back up, reading “I truly don't want anything to happen to you.” over and over again. Her heart skips planets and universes as she imagines Zeraphine peacefully crafting this letter for her. For her alone to read. Azaria reaches for anything to write on and responds.

Zeraphine and Azaria walk together as bright lights adorn the area, and humanoids shuffle about. The area was much more filled than Zeraphine expected it to be. Both of them could feel the press of the other humanoids against them, making Azaria’s skin crawl. They had been at the festival for over an hour at this time, with crowds growing more than they possibly could be.
“Zari? Are you doing ok?”
She couldn't even tell that she was spacing out but she got her act together quickly. She would be heartbroken if this ‘date’ went wrong. She thinks to herself, what are we even doing right now? Is this even a date or just a hangout between two beings? Azaria snaps back from her thoughts and finally responds.
“Oh, yes sorry about that…i just haven't been this immersed with this many humanoids before. It's a little strange to me still.”
Zeraphine goes to grab Azaria’s hand.
“If it's too much, please just let me know and we can leave as soon as possible.”
Azaria’s stomach twists in a way inexplicable to her. Azaria pauses, and stands still for a moment.
“Could we maybe go somewhere else?”
Zeraphine smiles warmly and takes her hand.
“Of course we can.”
