“This is it Lila!”
“Or whoever you really are besides a liar” Chat noir responds.
“I'm everyone and I'm no one. You'll never truly know who I am” The holder of the butterfly miraculous claims. They worked for months to track down this miraculous and finally, finally, they had found her. Of course it was none other than Lila, the girl who swore to make Marinette's life a living hell, and that she did. Although she has no evidence that Marinette is really Ladybug so in the end she didn't exactly live up to her word.
“Chat Noir cataclysm the boulder above the entrance!” Ladybug shouted while trying to figure out when the best time to call off her lucky charm would be. They were in a secluded cave they had been able to lure Lila into, making sure that no civilians could be hit in the crossfire.
“As you wish M’lady, cataclym!” Chat Noir responds and touches the rocks above them, creating no escape for Lila.
This is the end. Finally, after years of suffering. There's no way out she'll finally have the miraculous back in the miracle box.
“I wouldn't be too sure you have a plan,” Lila glares over at Ladybug. What could she possibly have up her sleeve?
“Please Ladybug always has a plan, right bugaboo?” Chat Noir shifts his focus over to Ladybug.
“Always, lucky charm!,” She calls out. “A computer? What is the world?”
“Well I guess we could always look up the best way to defeat the villain but I have a feeling there wouldn't be too many helpful responses,” Chat Noir jokes. Ladybug looks around, slightly panicked. She figured her lucky charm would lead her in the right direction, but she can't think of a plan.
“This is where I come in to play. See Ladybug, I always wanted to destroy you. I wanted your miraculous as well as Chat Noirs to make a wish, one that you'll never have the luxury of knowing. It seems I’m a bit stuck here and maybe you will defeat me,” What is she talking about? “Your reputation is going to be ruined after everyone finds out what you did,” Lila says.
“What? Ladybugs practically perfect sures shes made some mistakes but-” Ladybugs vision went blurry. Her heart pounded out of her chest like crazy. No, no. There's only one thing in this world that could ruin her. One thing, and thats-
“You might wanna turn on that computer and take a look at the news LB. Safe to say nobody's going to want you protecting them after they find out you lied to the whole world about Gabriel Agreste being a hero,” Lila protested with her smug attitude. Now Chat Noir's heart started pounding. His father? What does she mean he wasn't a hero? Chat Noir tries to keep a calm fact because too much emotion could jeopardize his identity. Ladybug looks over at Chat Noir while opening the computer with tears already forming in her eyes. What did Ladybug do?
“Dont be bemused its just the news!” The computer spat out.
“Chat I have to tell y-”
“It's been revealed this afternoon that the so-called “hero” Gabriel Agreste was none other than Monarch, the former supervillain who tormented Paris,” Nadia said over the screen. Chat Noir had tunnel vision at this point. His father. Monarch.
“How did you know this? How did you find out nobody knew it had to be that way, you don't understand what you're doing!” Ladybug yelled, tears streaming down her mask.
“So it's true?” Chat Noir looks at Ladybug like he barely recognized her.
“Listen, I had my connections. You think I didn't know Gabriel was Hawkmoth? Shadowmoth? Monarch?” Lila laughed. “I was working with him although he didn't exactly like to play by my rules, which is how I knew where to find the butterfly miraculous after he made his wish,”
“Ladybug…” Chat Noir turned to look at the broken mess Ladybug had turned into.
“Chat… I’m,” She broke down sobbing into his arms. He wanted to be angry, he wanted to scream at her asking how she could lie to him, to the whole world, like that. He couldn't bring himself to though, she must have had a reason. She continued through broken sobs “Gabriel… He.. He was monarch. I found out that day I had to fight him and I… I tried to reason with him. For his sake, for his son's sake.” A shiver went down Chat Noir's spine at the mention of himself, Adrien. “I tried to get him to stop but it didn't work. He was too powerful, too many miraculous. I couldn't I…” She took in a deep breath, “His final request was.. For Adrien, his son, to not remember him as a monster, but as a father.” That rich considering he was never a father, Chat Noir thought. He wanted to be mad at her for keeping this, but she did all of this for Adrien. She lied to the whole world, to him, all for Adrien's sake. No matter how mad he wanted to be, he knew that she did it from her heart and she wanted what was best for Adrien. He just wished he knew why she would go so far for a civilian she barely even knew.
“And now the whole world knows, well not the sob story part, but about you being a liar!” Lila let out yet another laugh. “I figured I couldn't take you both down on my own, so I might as well go out with a bang,” Lila opened her mouth to make another comment but before she could Chat Noir extended his stick slamming Lila up against the rock. Ladybug quickly wrapped her yoyo around her body as Chat Noir grabbed the butterfly miraculous off of her shirt. It was over. It was finally over.
“Back to the rightful owner, guardian” Chat Noir said, handing the miraculous back to Ladybug. She thought after everything they just went through he would've ditched her by now, hell, maybe even taken Lila's side. Instead he stuck with her.
“Listen Kitty, “ She started
“I get it Ladybug, I do. You did something so dangerous, but so brave to protect that boy Adrien Agreste. You always put others before yourself even if you don't know them that well. That's what makes you Ladybug. If the people of Paris can't see how much you've done for them and how much of your personal life you've sacrificed to save them, then they're not worth your time and energy,” Chat Noir comforted her.
“Thank you,” She smiled up at him. “Now we have to let Paris know that they are free from being akumatized.”
“Lets do it,” Chat Noir cataclysmed the rocks that had previously blocked them in. They made their way back to Paris landing on the eiffel tower. Before they had time to think of what they were going to tell the world, they were bombarded with signs all over Paris. Is Ladybug the real villain? What else have we been lied to about? Did Adrien Agreste know his fathers plans? Ladybugs heart broke. Not only did the entire world think that he was a liar, but now they were coming after Adrien and that is the last thing she wanted.
“I've ruined everything. The world is never going to trust someone like me. I've probably ruined Adrien's life too,” Ladybug said softly, another tear escaping her eyes.
“I'm sure he could find a way to forgive you Ladybug you just have to talk to him,” Chat Noir placed a hand on her shoulder. She turned to him, giving him a slight smile before they heard shouting in the streets of Paris.
“There she is!”
“Someone needs to take her away!”
“She's a liar!”
“We could never trust her again” Ladybug stared out in horror at the monstrosity surrounding them. The world hated her. One of the things she feared most, hurting Adrien, as well as the whole world labeling her as a monster. Her shoulders shook as she let out another sob.
“M’lady just explain to them what you told me I'm sure we could-” She pushed his hand off her shoulder
“Don't you see Chat? I'm a failure. My one duty was to protect Paris, so protect Adrien and I couldn't do it! I failed! I can never be seen as Ladybug again its better for the world if I never come back”
“But M’la-”
“Just stop! You don't have to pretend anymore I lied to you and you should hate me just like everyone else,” Ladybug reached for her yoyo, sending out a message to every miraculous holder with a detailed plan she had set in place to retrieve all the miraculous. She hit send on the message. “Chat we got back the butterfly miraculous. That was our one job we aren't needed anymore. I'm not wanted anymore.”
“Ladybug please Paris still needs us, needs you! They'll get over it I promise just-”
“I have to go retrieve all the miraculous and put them back in the miracle box,” She looked up at him with glossy eyes.
“If you think Paris still needs us you're welcome to keep your miraculous to help them,” She turned her back to him. “Goodbye Kitty, you were the best partner a girl could've ever asked for”
“WAIT!” Chat shouted but Ladybug had already flung off the rooftop. “We never even got to reveal our identities,” The thought hit Chat Noir harder as he said it out loud. Ladybug, his Ladybug. He wouldn't be able to track her down. She has to come around. Right? She can't hide out forever. I can't lose her forever.
