The Hardy order had taken eight weeks all told, the last four nights of it without sleep, and what felt like an absurd, unreasonable quantity of navy wool, every inch of it cut and pressed and sewn by hand, and when Dunk finally sewed the last button onto the last groomsman’s waistcoat at eleven forty at night, he sat there for a long moment just looking at it, in the particular stunned way of a man who has forgotten what his own hands feel like when they aren’t holding a needle.
