kiss me so it lasts

Summary:

Teddy Uris, the outcast of the school, and Phil Malkin, one of the most popular guys at Derry High, get locked in a closet together.

Do they become friends? Do they become enemies? Or maybe… they’ll kiss.

OR…

None of the Pennywise shit ever happened. It’s a modern AU. They’re just teenagers at Derry High with absolutely no supernatural horrors to worry about.

So yeah. They might as well kiss.

Notes:

AHHH HI!! This is my first fanfic ever!!

Updates will be inconsistent because I started high school this year, but there’s also something I want to talk about with this fanfic!!

This is MY interpretation of Teddy and Phil, so none of this is canon AT ALL. I changed their personalities quite a bit, and I also gave them a lot of my own interests. For example, Phil plays hockey, Teddy likes hockey, Teddy likes Heartstopper, etc. etc. 😭

Please keep in mind that I’m only 13, so this is probably ass cheeks, and I have pretty bad grammar!! I’m just writing this for fun, so I hope you enjoy it anyway!! 🫶

song of the chapter !!

ch1: start of something new - high school musical:D
ch2: don't delete the kisses - wolf Alice!!
ch3: heroes - David bowie<3

Chapter 1: friends?

Chapter Text

Phil Malkin. The most popular kid in Derry High, and me, Teddy Uris. Who has a huge, fat crush on him.

“I’m a loser! I’m supposed to stay in line! Not have a crush on stupid fucking Phil Malkin.” I complained to Lily.

Lily groaned and said, “Ted’s. As It's not that big of a deal, and haven't you seen the way he glances at you in the hall?”

“I doubt he would ever like me, Teddy Uris, back.” I scoffed while pacing around in my room.

“Can we do our homework in peace, possibly?” Ronnie said from my bed.

“No! I'm having a crisis!” I complained to Ronnie.

“Oo, you like phill~,” Lily teased while twirling her hair.

“Teddy, come here. I need help.” Marge said, spinning her pencil between her fingers.

“Mhm?” I said as I walked over to my desk, where Marge was sitting.

“What the fuck is a linear function?” Marge said in a very flat tone

I sighed and said, “Did you even pay attention in class today?”

“Uhm...” Marge replied

I sighed again and started to explain linear functions to her

—————————————————

God, I hate gym. The p.e teacher, Mr. Toffoli, sucks. An immediate sound filled my ears while I was thinking that. God, can he read my mind or something?

“I need two people to go run and grab the cones from the storage room.” Mr. Toffoli said while looking around the room

He rubbed the whistle in his fingers back and forth before saying, “So. If nobody’s gonna volunteer, I’ll pick randomly.”

Yet nobody volunteered, shocker.

“Okay then! Theodore, Phil, go.”

I rolled my eyes when he wasn’t looking. I hate when people call me by my real name. It reminds me of my house. I started walking towards the gym doors.

Seconds later, I hear footsteps behind me.

“So…” Phil said, clearly nervous

“So…?” I asked.

“Phil.” Phil put out his hand.

“I know. I’m Teddy.” I replied, trying to keep my eyes on the ground.

He smiled and said, “Cool.”

I didn’t bother to talk to Phil while walking down the hall; I really didn’t want to get my hopes up about him liking me back. But then Phil started talking

“Do you, uh… like sports?” He said.

“No, not really. I mean, I watch hockey, but I don’t play any.” I say.

“Oh, sick! I play hockey.” He said, god without even turning, I could see his stupid smile.

“Nice,” I reply.

Before we knew it, we were already at the storage rooms. I kinda wish we had taken longer so that I could skip the gym block.

“So what did coach want?” Phil asked.

“Do you seriously call him 'coach'? And he wanted the cones,” I say while starting to laugh a bit.

“Wow, Teddy, your words have actions, ya’ know,” Phil says sarcastically.

“That’s exactly why I’m saying it!” I laugh properly this time.

Before I knew it, we were laughing and talking. Who knew that Phil was so damn nice?

“You know, you're a cool guy, Teddy.” He says.

“Oh, thanks, I guess,” I reply, voice slightly cracking, as I flush in embarrassment.

“Does this mean we’re friends?” Phil asks while reaching for the door handle.

“I mean, sure!” I say. Oh god, why didn’t I say no? I’m literally leading myself into rejection.

“Uh, Teddy…” he says while pulling on the door.

I look up from my watch and witness him pulling on the door. And it’s clearly not opening.

“Here, uh, let me try the key.” I reach for the key in my pocket.

I try it, and as you can guess. It doesn't work. Oh my god, I should have just skipped today, honestly, pretended I was sick or something.

Phil sighs, “At least we get to skip gym,” he says, already sliding down the door to sit down.

“That's true,” I say, sitting down next to him.

“God, this sucks,” Phil says

“So what do we talk about?” i ask.

“I dunno…” Phil says, leaning his head back against the door

“What do you talk about with your friends?” i ask, slightly tilting my head to look at Phil.

“Usually, girls, it's boring,” Phil says, rolling his eyes and turning a bit to look at me.

“Boring? That's shocking for a boy like you,” i say while giggling

“I dunno,” Phil says.

“Girls never did much for me...”

“What do you mean?” i ask, raising my eyebrows a bit.

“I haven’t really told anybody this… but like, it’s not only girls that I like,” Phil says, turning his head away.

“That's probably the least I expected from you,” I say, smiling.

“But since you told me your secret, I’ll tell you mine.” i sigh.

Phil turns his head back

“I'm not exactly straight either...” I tell him.

Then i hear footsteps, loud ones in fact.

“Teddy! Are you in here?” Lily yells.

“Oh shit. I forgot i was gonna walk to lunch with Lily.” I whisper.

“Lily! We’re locked in- help!” i yell back.

“Who is we?” She asks.

“I’ll explain later; let us Out” I say as colour rushes to my face.

She opens the door, and Phil comes out first. Lily looks shocked or confused. I don't know, all I know is that Lily is going to ask a lot of questions.

“Phil?” Lily says, confused.

“Yes, hi,” Phil responds, waving slightly.

Then he turns to me.

“Teddy, before I forget, can I get your number?” Phil asks

Lily raises her eyebrows at me, and I panic, of course. Oh my god, oh my god. He's asking me for my number!

“Oh yeah, of course!”

We exchange numbers and separate.

———————

“Eek!” Lily exclaims while walking to their lunch table with Teddy.

“Looks like Lily has drama! Spill.” Marge says.

“Guess who I found locked in the storage room together.” Lily leans onto the table, smiling.

“Oh, my lord.” I roll my eyes.

“Who?” Ronnie asks, very intrigued.

“Teddy and Phil,” Lily announces.

“WHAT!” Marge yells.

“It’s not what it sounds like!” I defend.

“Then explain it to me, Mr. Uris,” Lily asks.

“Okay… so basically Mr. Toff asked us both to go grab cones from the storage room… and i forgot to hold the door open, and apparently the key didn't want to work. So we just started talking; he's actually really nice, and I got his number.” I explain.

“Oh-em-gee.” Lily says.

“Watch them get together in a few weeks,” said Marge.

“Oh, shush!” I say.

“It’s true, Teds, you guys are meant to be!” Ronnie says.

“Shut up..” my cheeks start to flush.
