Chapter Text
“Jelosusy is not a good colour on you, Merridew.”
Jack cringed at the use of his last name, whipping his head around to look at the origin of the voice, he was expecting to see Maurice or Roger, not Simon fucking Cambourn. “Piss off, batty. You don’t know what you’re talking about.” Jack replied with a scoff as he turned to fully look at Simon now. “Okay.” She said simply before she walked past him, possibly to make her way over to Ralph and Pi- Er, Nicky. But before she could even get a few steps past Jack, he grabbed ahold of her wrist, both looking up immediately, Simon looking at Jack with indifference but Jack could see the hint of fear in her eyes. “Why the hell are you wearing the girls uniform, you some kind of fag?” Jack murmured accusingly, eyeing Simon up and down with undisguised disgust.
Simon didn’t respond, only choosing to glare at Jack as she yanked her wrist out of Jack’s grip. “You should get to class, Merridew..” She muttered before turning and walking off. Jack stood there in stunned silence before he let out a scoff, sighing as he started to walk into the school building. “Yo dude, were you just flirting with Roger’s girl? ‘Saw you touchin’ her and shit.” Maurice teased him as he walked up beside Jack and wrapped his arm around the taller boy’s shoulder, forcing him to bend down as he walked. “What-Oh. You mean Batty. No. I wasn’t flirting with him.” Jack hissed at Maurice as the latter side eyed him but didn’t say anything about it, only choosing to ramble on about how good it is to finally be back in society and how much he’s missed his parents and younger sisters.
Jack just tuned him out, it’s not that he hated talking to Maurice, it’s just that he hated the sound of Maurice’s voice so much. He was soon pulled out of his thoughts by Roger passing by the two of them, his shoulder harshly colliding with Jack’s, the former not even sparing Jack a glance. “How much you wanna bet Si told him ‘bout you two’s convo, that’s why he’s pissed off at you probably.” Maurice muttered with a slight snicker, gaining a glare from Jack. Maurice just rolled his eyes and began to drag Jack to their class.
Unfortunately for Jack, Simon was also in his and Maurice’s class, fan-fucking-tastic. Along with Roger, Sam-or maybe that’s Eric, and Ralph. Jack was NOT going to survive this year, especially because he had to be stuck in this class with the people who hated him the most. “Great. Just great.” He murmured to himself as he took the only seat that was open, sadly, he had to sit right next to Ralph because Maurice picked the safest option, a seat behind Sam.
