Work Text:

It's another lovely morning, and you are a horrible goose. Trouble is, this isn't the village. You do not remember it ever getting this cold in the village, and none of what you see looks anything like a village location.

You open your other eye and preen yourself carefully while thinking about today's schemes. You notice you're sitting on a windowsill, overlooking a road with trees lining it. In the room this window belongs to is a young lady, blissfully asleep and blissfully unaware of your presence. There's another bed too, but that doesn't seem very important right now, since there's no one in it to menace.

You honk at the woman, and she wakes with a start. At that moment, you gain the sense that some higher power is telling you what direction to go. You realize the reason you're here. You've been summoned to lead this girl to her soulmate.

The girl gets up, but doesn't follow your lead as you rush to the door. You don't understand the hold-up. So naturally you start honking.

It takes a full hour before she finally goes out. Part of that might or might not be your fault, but you digress. All that really matters right now is that you corral this woman to whoever the honk fate decided was meant for her.

You switch the lead a lot of times as you string her along, to the point that no matter how meticulous this woman may be, she couldn't have been able to keep count. You have to bite and honk and yank a lot, because she seems more interested in fretting about her soulmate than actually meeting them.

You finally get to her soulmate after what feels like longer than it would take you to fly across the ocean. By then, your actions have caused her red hair to become quite messed up, and she's covered in your feathers and injuries you gave her.

The blonde who's her soulmate looks down and gently picks you up. You bite, because it's in your nature to menace humans, but strangely you feel a sense of contentment. You let her pet you as the two ladies get to chatting.

This is nice. Maybe you can hold off on the menacing for now. You'll get back to it later of course, but for now? It's a lovely afternoon at the community college, and you are a delighted goose.
