Chapter Text
She has seen a lot of things in her long life. Mystaké has lived for many thousand years, and she has seen many things, has been many things. And yet sometimes even they get surprised.
Like the day the child with the soul of an adult walked into her teashop. The child who knows more than he should, who has memories from a future that will never be.
She has felt it from the moment she laid eyes on the kid - that is a soul that doesn’t belong to this cycle. Something that shouldn’t be possible. Something so absurd that it is almost logical again.
The child wants advice, and Mystaké tries to help, even though he doesn’t take the news well. She watches as a grown man in the body of a child breaks, and when he leaves to clear his head she stays back, knowing he’ll return, knowing he’ll adapt.
Because he is part Oni, as the grandson of the First Spinjitzu Master, and if Oni are good at one thing it’s adapting.
And he does return, having found a new purpose, and then Mystaké learns more about that future that will never be. It’s possibly one of the most exciting things that have happened to them in a while, and though she is told of their untimely demise the child promises it won’t happen again.
And Mystaké can sense the kindness in this broken soul, can sense the determination the man in the body of a child has, and even though his plans are risky she decides to help.
And so she lets him stay for a few days, provides him with what he needs and even brings him to the bus that will bring him to a new future themself. And as he looks back one last time Mystaké knows this won’t be the last she’s seen of him.
This cycle has a bright future, and she hopes the kid succeeds with his plans…
