Robin and Sumia - Alternate Supports for Fire Emblem Awakening

Summary:

Ahh... Fire Emblem Awakening...
The supports in this game make me so happy to review sometimes, even so many years since my last playthrough! Some characters are so goofy, others so sweet... so many unforgettable interactions and some genuinely fun writing.

But... what if... they were a little longer? What if we took those good story beats, the characters, and fleshed them out into, say, 10 interactions? It works great for Persona, so why not Awakening?

I find so many of the female cast of Awakening just delightful: Lissa is sunny and happy, Lucina struggles with a dark past, Tiki with the prospect a long and lonely life... They make for delightful love stories.

So, without further ado, please enjoy my own fan-written support between:

Robin and Sumia

Notes:

Notes about This Story
- I have Robin a little more shy and unsure than in other romantic supports I've written. This is still early in his journey, and he's not surrounded by married couples to learn from, hence the trepidation and uncertainty.
- I had a hard time finding a way to justify why Chrom would not end up with Sumia! They're too cute together, but I hope this makes sense.
- I just LOVE Sumia! Such a sweetie pie. (Heheh. Pie.) I teared up writing this one.

General Notes and Apologies
- I have not read *every* support convo for every single character in the game with every other. I have played a LOT of this game, but if you find any lore inconsistencies in a character's story, sorry!
- Not 100% perfect English! I'm a native speaker, but I don't have anybody to help review these. Apologies if that breaks the immersion for you.
- I do take some liberties (duh, it's fan fiction, haha!) with some of these; drawing on other games, lore from other games, and other Awakening Fan Fiction I've written. If you think "Chrom would never say that!" Or "Robin would never!" That's fine, amigo/a! I'm just sharing this with any who might enjoy them.
- Robin has some minor changes to his abilities to make it more lore-consistent:
- He can use magic without tomes
- He has very potent dark magic skills that he doesn't like to use often, but still has. (Taught by his mother.)

Chapter 1: Support Level 1

Chapter Text

Robin: Hey, uh... Sumia?
Sumia: Oh! Hello, Rooo-eek!
Robin: Yikes! Gotcha. Sorry to startle you!
Sumia: No, *I'm* sorry for tripping onto you!
Robin: Heh. Glad I caught you this time... Anyways, I wanted to come and thank you for... saving Chrom.
Sumia: Aww, that's so sweet of you! I'm just glad I'm more capable in a saddle than on my lousy feet.
Robin: Heheh... Me too. As a tactician, you know, I really pride myself on keeping my people safe, and having you with your beautiful steed is going to be a huge help around here.
Sumia: That's wonderful! You can send me deep behind enemy lines. I'll be death from above, haha!
Robin: Erm... yes, but actually no...
Sumia: Oh, I'm just kidding, Robin! ...Mostly. I'm ready to help however I'm needed.
Robin: That's the spirit. Oh, actually... Would you mind answering a personal question?
Sumia: Of course.
Robin: You're a very skilled flyer, but... You didn't have a mount before now?
Sumia: Oh yes... well, I did, sort of... I was... well, my friend Cordelia and I wanted to be Royal Ylissean Whitewings since we were little girls!
Robin: They're the Royal Guard, right?
Sumia: Yep! Best fliers in all of Archanea! Anyways, Cordie and I were lucky enough to be trained by Captain Phila. Buuuut... When it came time for the exams, Cordie passed, of course, because she's just brilliant, and... I... Ahem... Was rejected on the grounds that I am, in Phila's exact words the... "clumsiest person I have ever met..."
Robin: Oh. I'm sorry, Sumia. Rude of me to pry.
Sumia: ...Yeah... But it's okay! I'm happier as a Shepherd anyways. True, I didn't get my own pegasus, or anything, but Cordie tells me that the knights are kinda... well, I won't speak ill of them, but let's just say I'm delighted to be here with Chrom, you, and the others.
Robin: I'm glad you're here with us, Sumia.
Sumia: Aww, thanks!
