Robin and Cherche - Alternate Supports for Fire Emblem Awakening

Summary:

Ahh... Fire Emblem Awakening...
The supports in this game make me so happy to review sometimes, even so many years since my last playthrough! Some characters are so goofy, others so sweet... so many unforgettable interactions and some genuinely fun writing.

But... what if... they were a little longer? What if we took those good story beats, some creative liberties, the characters, and fleshed them out into, say, 10 interactions? It works great for Persona, so why not Awakening?

I find so many of the female cast of Awakening just delightful: Lissa is sunny and happy, Lucina struggles with a dark past, Tiki with the prospect a long and lonely life... They make for delightful love stories.

So, without further ado, please enjoy my own fan-written support between:

Robin and Cherche

Notes:

Notes about This Story
- This is one of the more fast moving marriage proposals that I've written... Hey, I got engaged to my wife after just a little while, so it happens in real life, too!
- Did you know that Robin doesn't have any fast growing supports (gameplay mechanic) with any females (or males)? To me, this says that he doesn't have a canon companion. At times like this, I try to come up with a good reason as to why Robin "steals" them from their "canon" companion.
- And to any who struggle with illness or the loss of a loved one, I hope that love and purpose can heal your heart as well.
- Cherche is... not *bland*, but she's one of the most "has her crap together" people in the cast... Perhaps it is this reason that I feel the inclusion of Gerome is such a vital inclusion to this story.

General Notes and Apologies
- I have not read *every* support convo for every single character in the game with every other. I have played a LOT of this game, I did do some homework and reading before writing this, but if you find any lore inconsistencies in a character's story, sorry!
- Not 100% perfect English! I'm a native speaker, but I don't have anybody to help review these. Apologies if the occasional spelling, punctuation, or grammar error breaks the immersion for you!
- I do take some liberties (duh, it's fan fiction, haha!) with some of these; drawing on other games, lore from other games, and other Awakening Fan Fiction I've written. If you think "Chrom would never say that!" Or "Robin would never!" That's fine, amigo/a! I'm just sharing this with any who might enjoy them.
- Robin has some minor changes to his abilities to make it more lore-consistent:
- He can use magic without tomes
- He has very potent dark magic skills that he doesn't like to use often, but still has. (Taught by his mother.)
- Since Grima was created with divine dragon blood, Robin has divine dragon magic, albeit corrupt magic. That means that he can use his fell blood-empowered magic for feats of sorcery and magic that others might not be able to do. (Similar to Gotoh, or the Rainbow Sage.)

Chapter 1: Robin-Cherche 1

Chapter Text

Robin: Ahh... Gotta love that stable air to clear the ol' head...
Robin: I see we've got the usuals in today? Let's see here... Helloooo Ashera!
Pegasus: *Neigh!*
Robin: Heheh... That's a good girl. Here's a carrot for youuuu... And here's *Lidia*...
Pegasus: *Snort.*
Robin: Heheh. Perfectly brushed as always. I'd expect nothing less from Cordelia. Do you want a treeeeeat? No? Heheh. Watching your weight like your master, I suppose.
Robin: And onto the horses. Hello Brno, and *goodbye* Brno, you terrifying monster of a horse... There's Apples, sleeping like Stahl, heheh... Looks like Frederick's got his horse with him, no surprises... Here's Rain... My, Maribelle's got you all dolled up, beautiful. Here's a treat for you... and...!
Wyvern: ...?
Robin: Oh. It's... huh. I did... not know you were allowed to sleep in here.
Wyvern: *Snort.*
Robin: ...What was your name... your name... it's... Minerva, I think. Hi, uh... Minerva.
Minerva: *Growl...*
Robin: Eeeeasy there, easy girl...
Minerva: ...
Robin: You're a big... scary girl... But... actually, I see why your mama loves you so much...
Minerva: ...?
Robin: Big sharp horns, nice clean scales, and you're *very* well behaved. Most wyverns are actually like wild animals, but you're not a wild animal, *are you?*
Minerva: ...!
Robin: Heheh... Hey there... Gonna let me pet your neck? There... see?
Minerva: *Chitters*...
Robin: I don't imagine you like carrots... Oh! But how about... this?
Minerva: *Yaps*.
Robin: This is my own personal meat snack... But I'll share it with you. Here.
Minerva: *Snap!*
Robin: Wow! Just look at those nice clean teeth? Cherche must love you.
Cherche: She does.
Robin: YAH! Oh! Cherche, I'm---
Cherche: Awww! *Minerva* did you make a friend??
Minerva: *Growl...*
Cherche: That's my *beautiful* girl!!
Robin: Heheh... You're incredible, Cherche. I've never met a nicer wyvern.
Cherche: The trick is to not be afraid of her... Dragons are like horses in that they're great readers of people, and she knows you're not afraid of her. Her *enemies* are afraid of her... but not her friends.
Robin: Er, yes... glad I... glad I managed that.
Cherche: Oh, I was watching you the whole time. You were never in any danger.
Robin: That's very... wait, you were!?
Cherche: Hahaha! I was, yes! I thought to myself, "What is the Grandmaster doing out here in the stables?" Doting on the mounts of his allies, it seems, hahaha!
Robin: Oh, I just... I just like it here. It's quiet, peaceful, the smells are nice, and these animals are... reliable, helpful... *Looks over at Brno*... mostly very sweet.
Cherche: I did not have you pegged as an animal lover, Lord Robin.
Robin: Huh? Oh, just Robin is fine, thank you. I actually don't have Lordship. That comes with owning land, and all I've got is a room in the palace in Ylisstol.
Cherche: Oh, I see! I apologize for assuming.
Robin: No problem. Besides, I don't know all that... fancy tea stuff to be a Lord. I just like animals. These ones, especially. They keep our friends safe, and have won us many battles. It pays to say thank you, I think.
Cherche: Heehee! I didn't know "fancy tea stuff" was a requirement to be a noble! Although, most of the Valmese nobles also know their "fancy tea stuff."
Robin: Yeah... you'd think Virion was a fancy tea stuff aficionado.
Cherche: He is, but he's also got a good, noble heart.
Robin: Any man willing to risk his neck for others isn't a bad man in my book.
Cherche: That's refreshing to hear. Most people---
Minerva: *ROAR!*
Robin: Sheesh, that's loud...
Cherche: Oh, that means she wants to go out for a fly. Oookay, but just a short one, okay?
Robin: I'll, er... I'll leave you to it, then.
Cherche: Alright! See you soon, Robin.
