Summary
When Colin gets pulled over for speeding, he panics and blurts out that he is racing to the hospital because his girlfriend is in labour. The officer, unexpectedly concerned and thorough, insists on escorting him straight to the maternity ward. Desperate to sell the lie, Colin stumbles into a random hospital room where Penelope Featherington has just given birth to her daughter, completely alone and emotionally raw after being abandoned by her family for having a baby out of wedlock. To his shock, she plays along with the ruse.
What starts as a ridiculous lie becomes the beginning of something life-changing, as Colin keeps finding reasons to return, and Penelope, for the first time in a long while, doesn’t feel quite so alone.
