Chapter Text
Waking up today seemed to be a difficult task for Feng Lan. When he opened his eyes, he was immediately met with a pounding headache, lights that were too bright, and eyes that were stinging to hell and back.
The bed was wrong, too soft, his limbs were aching, and he felt hot. Where the hell was he?
The room was unfamiliar. It was filled with bookshelves, chandeliers for light bulbs, intricate walls—this was not his home. He does not recognize this place.
Head of Feng Family. [Prophecy]. Endless ability. Class F. First year. Black hair and black eyes. Blond blond blond unluckiest soul—
He hissed at the onslaught of memories that wad—not his not his not his—dropped inside his head, hastily putting his hands on his eyes as the pain worsened. It felt like something was eating his head.
And those.. images.
Those memories were his, yet not at the same time. Abilities? Head? Those didn't exist in his world. But they did. No, they..
What?
Alright, Feng Lan. Think. He chided himself mentally. He didn't think he'd panic this much. Given, he did just wake up at an unfamiliar place, so maybe it was acceptable..
He was.. 16. He woke up like usual, taking a bath, eating breakfast and going out to school. He went to his high school. The day passed. He went home. Then…
And then..
What happened after?
He left school, took the usual path he did, the bridge, the roads, the crosswalks..
The bridge. The road. The crosswalks. School.
He doesn't remember. Why doesn't he remember? There were.. cars. People walked behind him. He felt cold.
It was very cold.
…Moving on.
Those are what he remembers. A normal, plain, high school life. But in this world, he— This Feng Lan was just in his first year of high school. He was going to start attending this month.
He was accepted in Class A, but he asked to be put in Class F. The lowest class of Endless because of a prophecy.
He doesn't remember doing those.
How does Feng Lan know about these things? He's never encountered them in his life. The only thing he was familiar with were the abilities, and those were mainly because he read a lot of shounen manga during his spare time.
If he was right, this world has abilities in them. Which doesn't narrow down the list, but at least he's got a basis.
This Feng Lan was also Head of the Feng Family, which was an old, old, family that was built up of Prophets.
Given that this guy’s ability was quite literally just [Prophecy], he doesn't even have a counter against a 15 year old being the family head. He was overpowered.
And those images, earlier.. Black hair, and another person that was blond. It was probably one of ‘his’ prophecies.
There was a series of knocks on his door that snapped him out of his musings, and he instinctively said “Come in.”
…Wow, this guy was loaded. Even the Butlers had fancy ass clothing.
Said Butler seemed to be surprised that he was awake, because he had an awed expression on his face before he turned back and started.. screaming for everyone else. He doesn't know.
It was also the reason why Feng Lan found out that this body had apparently been in a fever for a few days, and it being miraculously gone was something to cheer about.
…
This was going to be a long, long time.
Feng Lan was sitting idly in class, looking at the outside world.
It had been about 3 weeks once he'd woken up in this body. Two out of those three had been spent trying to familiarize himself with his surroundings, having to review everything he could get his hands on.
He was a noble, damn it, and that status itself made everything 10x harder. He had to actively learn etiquette, history about other nobles, history of the world itself—and wasn't that a doozy?— alongside more miscellaneous stuff.
The reminder almost sent another pang through his head, and if he were any less determined to not get murdered he would've groaned right at that moment.
But alas, the Feng Lan of this world was an aloof person who always seemed tired and never got scolded if he slept.
The last week was spent getting ready for this school. There were dormitories that the students had to live in, which made everything a tad bit better, since he didn't have to act around the Feng family anymore.
Which was a pain to do, since most of the family were prophets. He was surprised he didn't get exposed within the first hour.
And after the hassle of trying to act like someone he isn’t—he’s finally in class.
Feng Lan still didn't know if he was in a manga, a game, or a novel. He was hoping for the first one, since he barely played any action games(due to how bad he was at them) and he only read novels on occasion.
Alright, the boredom might be getting to him. He's been ranting into the air for who knows long, he's going to go to sleep. Hopefully it was early enough that he could sneak a nap in.
.
.
.
He was ashamed to admit it, but he thinks he might've missed the entire reason why he was in Class F.
When he woke up, the classroom was already full of students, and there was a confrontation between.. a black haired guy and a blond.
He thought that he woke up just at the right time to witness the moment—but no, all they had was a cryptic conversation, and then the black haired guy, who he didn't hear the name of, walked away from Su Bei, the blond.
An unfamiliar name, but maybe he was a new character too.
…He was going to be so mortified if this wasn't a manga, novel, or game world.
After black haired guy walked back to his seat, he started chatting with a blue haired person.
They seemed awfully familiar.. maybe they were the protagonists?
The door opened, and in walked a guy that had no right to be that tall. He was almost 2 meters tall, had muscles that were clearly earned, and he had his hair tied back.
If Feng Lan would describe this guy, he would be the hot teacher that every fan fell in love with.
He looked tired—another appeal for the fans—and pulled out the chair from the teacher's desk, sat on it, and crossed his legs like a boss.
Meng Huai, as he introduced himself, was very forward and a bit..aloof. He gave no instructions other than the basics, and answered questions, though in a way that made you think about it before answering.
The student introductions went by rather quickly, and he perked up when the black haired boy stood up to introduce himself.
“Hi, everyone. I’m Jiang Tianming. My ability is [Summon].”
Ah. Now he knew why he was familiar.
Feng Lan was not about to have a breakdown on the first day of class.
He managed to hold back the urge to cry, but it took a few minutes. He had already introduced himself, and the flabbergasted and piercing stares directed at him were successfully ignored.
He was still a bit out of it even after the introductions, deciding to try and sleep again, but he snapped out of his daze when his new teacher flicked a chalk stick on one of the students' heads, hitting it dead on.
…Another stat as the ‘hot teacher' character.
And then his teacher and Su Bei had a staring competition that had gone unnoticed by everyone else.
And then his teacher asked them to run 10 laps around the entire field.
He sighed internally, sitting up straight when the two protagonists’ stood up. Up to the action they go!
Blond boy was staring at him when he yawned… was he a creep..?
He turned toward the podium idly, muttering to himself, “Do we really have to run..?”
Su Bei responded to him, maybe the blond thought he was initiating a conversation?
“Yeah, ten laps. Let’s go, no food if you don't finish.”
What.
His face turned serious at that statement. No food is a crime against humanity. He better go quickly.
“Then we’d better go as soon as possible.” Feng Lan realized his mistake when he almost left Su Bei, and he sheepishly turned back around to ask him if he wanted to join him.
“Come join me..?”
He swore he could see amusement flash through the other’s eyes, but it was quickly swept up as he responded back.
“Sure. I'm Su Bei. You?”
Cheering inside his head, he walked with the blond boy(though he was a bit weird earlier asking about his stamina while he was all up in his face).
At least he got a friend for the first day.
.
.
.
Su Bei was a bit… eccentric.
He slacked off on the task their teacher gave him, had a personality that was suited for troublemakers, and a bit overwhelming.
“Sugar daddy, need a pretty boy?”
Case in point. What the hell was wrong with these characters.
He kept his face expressionless, though he was biting his tongue to not choke at the question.
“I.. don't want one. Do you want some recommendations?" He asked seriously, though he hoped that Su Bei was actually joking.
Su Bei said dryly, “No thanks.”
Thank God. He doesn't want to see one of his first friends become a sugar baby. Wait, does that mean he's a sugar daddy..? Those points were because he had an influential family, right?
…That made him a nepobaby. Nepofather?
Nope, not thinking about it anymore.
And then he met another nepoba—noble in the cafeteria, one he recognized from the other Feng Lan's memories.
Si Zhaohua. He was with his usual group, Ai Baozhu and Zhou Renjie. It seemed he was confused on which class he went to, was a bit surprised that he was at Class F, but ultimately left it alone.
Maybe he knew he had [Prophecy].
Ai Baozhu was a bit rude, but at least she apologized sincerely.
And then he was being pestered by Su Bei again.
Almost three months in this manga, and he gets kidnapped.
Feng Lan doesn't know what he ever did to gain this type of experience. He was a normal person with a normal life—he was barely noticeable in school!
He stared emotionlessly at the ceiling.
Seriously, what type of school was this? Wasn’t this supposed to be secure? He was really excited to finally get some action in, too.
Instead, he was tied and gagged up in the corner of some sort of room. He was gagged with some sort of collar, and his arms were starting to hurt from the restraint.
They had tried to mind control him, too, but it didn't work. He probably had some sort of item that protected him, given by his family. It wouldn’t do well if the Young Master of the Feng family died for some dumb reason, or had been mind controlled.
It was really uncomfortable inside this room. The person watching over him didn't even bother to look at him, just whistling and using his phone idly.
Feng Lan was offended. Surely he wasn't that weak. He squinted his eyes at the enemy, slowly(to not alert anyone) trying to get out of his binds.
…It didn't even budge.
It was an ability, surely. He refused to believe that after all that training that he was this weak.
The corners of his mouth were starting to ache, probably from the gag-collar thing put on him.
Which he despised, by the way. Which person gags someone because they were talking? He couldn't even have a conversation in this place.
He was going to lose his mind.
You know what? He thought blandlessly, putting his head on the wall.
I'm going to sleep.
He closed his eyes.
It was cold.
“Feng Lan—!”
There was a loud noise that hit his ears.
Cold, cold, cold.
Where was he? It was cold. There was something rushing in his ears. People were shouting, but it all muddled.
His back hurt. He couldn't breathe properly. It felt like he was choking.
Cold. Why was it so cold?
When he looked above, it was all darkness. The stars were fading away.
Everything was so heavy… he wanted to go to sleep.
It was getting colder.
He sleeps.
Waking up was proving to be a mistake.
Feng Lan was greeted by silence, and it has never unnerved him more.
Instead of the talking, shuffling, and laughing outside the room that he could hear on occasion—the only sound was something ticking and someone's breathing.
There were only two people left in this area, and one of them was him.
The silence was making him nervous. His hands grew sweaty where they were tied up, and he felt like there was danger approaching even if there was nothing.
His nerves felt like he was on fire, tension tight against his body. He’s nervous that something’s going to happen.
If he was going to be honest, he wanted to go to sleep again. But he was too tense, and he just woke up from his sleep an hour ago.
The guy with a baseball cap—who’s stare was so piercing and dark—suddenly got a call from his phone.
The noise was so loud and sudden that Feng Lan almost flinched. The only thing that held him back was that if he did that, it would be showing weakness.
Baseball cap guy accepted with a fleeting glance at him, and because there was nothing else to do, he listened.
He heard about their plans to kidnap as many students as possible. He heard about the Academy trying to get in the different space. He heard about the way there was a traitor.
And he surely heard the way when something flickered, like static, on the man's phone.
Then the voice kept going, about another collaborator in the Academy.
Great, two different organizations in the school. How wonderful.
That said, the Academy probably thought of this as a training experience. If they couldn't even come in to save students while they could, they were not fit as an Academy at all.
All he wishes is that those Academy bastards get here faster. Because his cheeks probably had bruises from the collar, his arms were basically numb, and he just wanted to sleep.
Damn this. Why couldn't he get one peaceful day?
The call ended, and the manic chuckling of the baseball cap guy just made him want to curl up in the corner in hopes of not being seen.
Now he's stuck with a maniac.
Great.
There were noises outside.
Granted, it was mostly the growling and screaming of students, but at least there was noise.
Feng Lan was glad there was anyone outside at all.
By the next few hours, more and more students were getting captured. The place was growing louder, and he found himself slowly relaxing with the noise.
Though, suddenly, he was yanked off his feet. The guard clearly had no regard for his situation, as he just started pulling him from the collar of his uniform.
Students quieted down when they walked past, and he was led to a new room with a person he recognized.
The pink haired girl seemed surprised to see him, too. Her eyes widened when she took in his appearance, probably unkempt from the two days of capture.
Most importantly, she seemed hyperfixated on the collar on his mouth, and he realized that she seemed to grow hesitant of something.
The guard that was holding him just smirked, looking like some guy who just won the lottery. The prize being.. silence? Obedience?
That's what he's guessing, since the guy seemed satisfied at the anxious faces of the students. Guard guy revelled in the stifling silence, his body much more relaxed and confident.
Feng Lan was then kept in the room for a few hours, getting used as a hostage whenever someone was trying to act out of line.
There were multiple close calls, from students trying to escape, only to stop in their place when the guy put a hand on his neck, to students protesting, and quickly shutting up when his collar started beeping.
Those few minutes were some of the most terrifying moments of his life.
He couldn't help but tense up when it started ominously beeping, his teeth biting harder on the metal, and the relief he felt when it stopped making noise was one that would rival winning the elections.
The guard left after another hour— saying something along the lines of “be obedient and no one will get hurt”. Typical threatening stuff, but it tamed the occupants inside the room enough.
More and more students arrived after that, and along with the students came the protagonists.
Jiang Tianming was pushed into the room alongside Wu Mingbai and Lan Subing, the hands tied at the back.
The three quickly noticed his state, their eyes widening. Feng Lan gave a shallow nod in response, laying his head back on the wall when they came closer.
Responding to them was hard due to the collar-gag, but they made it work.
The next day, he gets rescued with minor injuries, bruises on his cheeks and arms.
Not everything goes well after that. Class S gets formed, they get tricked by some woman named Qingqing, Zhou Renjie gets his pride broken down to nothing but crumbles, Su Bei is trustworthy in terms of a way of escaping danger, and the protagonist group is still unlucky.
The three-school joint exam went splendid, though.
That couldn't be said when he invited his classmates over to his mansion. What kind of maniac used wine?
At least Feng Lan was saved from doom due to being near the protagonists.
