Since that fateful day, Ruan Mei seemed to have found herself constantly haunted by what the other nurses denominated her "pet witch". The very same one who was already waiting there, sprawled comfortably across the waiting room bench as though she owned the hospital, lazily spinning a silver gear between her fingers.
The instant she noticed Ruan Mei dragging her feet after the matron, her perpetually unimpressed expression cracked into a delighted smile.
