Throughout Subaru's journey through many Arcs, it is only Subaru himself knowing of his Authority, Return by Death, and him taking his own burden alone.
But what if, in this reality, it's not true? What if, throughout the journey, there's a companion who stalks his every death, his every mistake, his every life, who doesn't intervene but is the force of nature that notices the nature of this very boy with such power?
Meet Death (not metaphorically or rhetorically or poetically or theoretically or any other fancy way) in its conversation with Subaru throughout his many adventures from Arc 1 to 8. With Subaru's authority, he is granted the privilege of meeting Death, and he's the only one who can see and talk with Death.
