Work Text:

Staying in prison wasn't so bad. It'd been a pain in the ass to make Yancy concede to free Mark from the wall and the two... clashed, at best.

Now, Mark being Mark, he was working on how to get you two out of this mess HE definitely started. You'd agree leaving would be nice, if only to relax at the base, but you couldn't complain of this free vacation. Who knew how long you'd actually rest before being sent in another overcomplicated heist so, for now... You decided to relax.

Sitting by Yancy on a slow day, resting in the sun on your hour outside, you closed your eyes, letting your skin soak in the warm sunlight.

You could hear Yancy scratch in his notebook, surely creating another musicals for his troupe to perform when you noticed... the pen had stop for a while now.

You opened an eye, glancing at the pouting singer.

He was glaring at Mark from across the field, trying to butter his way up to the guards. With... more or less success. And by Yancy's twitching eyes, you already knew he was seething before he mumbled.

“Youse friend is doing it again,” He scoffed at the sight.

“Let him. He wants to feel useful.”

“He's annoying, that's what he is.”

“Be nice.”

“I ams nice.”

You could hear him mumble grumpily for a minute more until—

“Are you sure I can't punch him?”

“Yancy—”

“Sure, sure?”

Yes.”

Yancy slammed his notebook on the grass, crossing his arms to crumble. He looked adorable, despite his best attempts to appear menacing.

You smiled, shaking your head as you closed back your eyes.

“What if I just breaks his nose a little?”

“Yancy, behave.”

Another huff. You heard him move, the sunlight now obstructed from you. You blinked only to find Yancy kneeling before you, hiding your view of Mark.

“I cans get him out if that's what he wants.”

“You'd help us?”

“No,” He looked disgusted by the idea. “I wants him gone. You, you can stay.”

“What if I want to leave?”

Silence answered you. His pouty lips almost seemed to tremble.

“I'd get you out.”

You smiled then gently pushed him to the side.

“Tell you what,” You leaned back in the grass. “If you come around the idea of leaving and coming with us, I'll agree to leave. If not, let Mark do the planning. Now tell me about your new song?”
