Summary:

March learns why he shouldn't sneak up on someone while they're working on their sword

Work Text:

The sweltering summer sun beats down on your exposed arms as you polish your sword right outside of the blacksmith's shop. While you wipe away the sweat that beads in your forehead, a part of you misses the mild days of spring when you first arrived in Mistria. You've made it a long way since then—though there's still one thing, or person, who you still haven't quite figured out yet.

Flipping the sword over, the front door of the blacksmith opens up and out of the corner of your eyes Olric flashes you a quick grin before heading towards the beach. You can't help but smile to yourself as you focus back on your sword.

That's when a voice comes up behind you.

“You're doing it wrong.”

Nearly jumping out of your skin, you spin around on your heels with your sword in hand—aiming it straight at March. If you were frightened, March is downright terrified. His eyes widen as he clutches at his chest as he stumbles backwards and promptly falls on his ass.

“March!” Lowering the sword, you reach a hand out to help him up but he only grumbles under his breath as he shoos your hand away like a bothersome fly.

“I’m fine,” he replies, standing back up and smoothing down the front of his apron.

“I almost killed you!” He scoffs at your statement, rolling his eyes.

“Don't flatter yourself, you weren't even close.” A stray piece of hair falls in front of his eyes and March reaches out to fix it, but his trembling hand gives him away.

“Maybe next time don't sneak up behind me.”

“Maybe next time watch where you're—” Juniper walks by then, looks at the two of you, and promptly tries to conceal her laughter.
