   "But me." Ryland said, voice nearly a whisper.

   The knight nodded. "But you."

   Ryland nodded, taking a large (albeit shaky) breath before speaking again. "Right. Cool. Great." He scrubbed at his face with his hands, glasses resting beneath his chin. "Can I think about this?"

   Ryland is a disgraced Mage living a quiet life in a small, out of the way village, and Simon is a former cultist, now Knight, in service to the Queen, sent to retrieve this mage for a quest of great importance.
