Chapter Text

Berk was a loud village to say the least, it has its own rustic beauty that made every Viking love it, but it still has flaws- the People living there for example. They were not at all bad or evil  as the legends say, sure they were aggressive but almost all of them are, and that’s just the way of life. Even at night you can still hear the sounds of fire sizzling, snoring vikings, yellings of Sven trying to find his sheep in the middle of the night, and Gobber’s loud sleep talks that has yet to annoy the entire village.

So waking up on the hard solid ground with the Sun glaring at your face and several people already screaming and panicking was not the wake-up call Hiccup ever wanted…or needed.

“WHERE ARE WE?!?” A familiar voice of a 14 year old Viking boy yelled, clutching their black hair in a panic.

“MOM!? DAD!?! WHERE ARE YOU!?!” Another panicking teen did not stay quiet at all. His palms shaking in nervousness.

“Shut up Fishlegs! We are sleeping over here!” An angry viking girl yelled from place besides her twin on the ground. Curling like babies as they “slept” on the hard surface floor. Fishlegs sputtered and turned to the two “ Ruffnut! Tuffnut! We are literally in the middle of nowhere and all you want is to sleep?!?”

“Uh, Duuhh”

“What do you think we were here for?”

Fishleg just looked shocked as the twins continued laying on the ground like disgruntled sea urchins. If sea urchins can look disgruntled and lay like that. Astrid rolled her eyes at the childish display. She rubbed her forehead at the thought of being stuck with her idiot…friends alone in a closed area. “I’ll have to kill them if that comes down to it” Muttering to herself as she grabbed her signature axe. She was lucky it was still beside her when she slept or else she’ll might actually go crazy like the Twins.

Snotlout began pacing around, closed spaces weren’t his strong suit “We have to get out of here! Why are you all just standing there like a bunch of lazy yaks!”

“BeCAUse Snotlout” Astrid hissed “This entire place apparently has some kind of magic surrounding  it, preventing us from escaping’

“WELL DID YOU TRY TO ESCAPE?!” He argued back, clutching his belt.

“We did” A familiar deep voice echoed across the Arena. “Chief!” The kids, including the Twins, stood up immediately, straightened their backs as they saluted Stoick. “Me and Gobber checked the place, we tried everything tp destroy whatever kind of shield is preventing us from escaping” Gobber nodded besides him.

“We tried EVERYTHING, from throwing boulders, fire, lava-”

“Where did you get lava?”

“And even Stoick!” He let out a booming laugh. Stoick glared at him, remembering how it went down- his head was not the only victim to being electrocuted.

Gobber realized the glare he was getting and stopped, nervously chuckling as he rubbed his head. Stoick just  rolled his eyes, he surveyed the rest of the arena and spotted a very familiar figure at the very edge. His eyes widened “HICCUP!” Stoick was hopeful that his son won’t be a part of this whole debacle, he was very wrong. “Told you, you should have prayed to the gods more” Gobber teased but even his expression was filled with worry.

Stoick ignored Gobber and ran straight to his son. “Dad!” The two embraced each other, or more like Stoick grabbing Hiccup and squeezing him so tight he could barely breath.

“D-dad..ugh- Can’t breathe…” Hiccup gasped.

Stoick listened, softly placing him down. He looked for injuries, Hiccup was confused but didn’t mind how his dad was very worried for him. After realizing his son didn’t gain any injuries from whatever creature that kidnapped them here he then suddenly grabbed Hiccup’s shoulders “You stay with the other children. Do not  move. Do not  speak. And for the Love of Odin, DO NOT DO ANYTHING….okay?”.

“Well, thank you DaAd for the vote of confidence, do you-” Hiccup offered a nervous chuckle but his dad didn’t want to hear it now.

“Do you understand Hiccup?” Stoick’s voice had an edge to it. Clearly reminding his son that this was no time for jokes.

Hiccup nodded and a sigh of relief from Stoick was all Gobber needed to grab the young lad to escort him to the other children who were all looking at them.

The children were not happy.

Except for Fishlegs, he was just jittering in the corner of Hiccup’s vision.

“Ugh, seriously? Him?” Tuffnut did not shy away from pointing at the scrawny viking. Hiccup’s expression also said the same thing about the male twin.

“This has literally turned into a nightmare times ten, with the tribe loser of all people to be stuck with…Odin must hate me” Snotlout complained, waving his hands in the air. Hiccup rolled his eyes at that “Good to see you too…”.

Astrid let out a ‘tched’ when she set her eyes on him and turned to look at the large steps near her. While Ruffnut smirked at the teen and whispered something to her twin ‘probably, no, DEFINITELY about me’ Hiccup thought, already feeling the agonizing pain to be in the same room as the other kids who most definitely hate him.

Gobber patted Hiccup’s fluffy hair with a soft smile “Okay, you six be good, me and stoick will be right back- don’t touch anything” As soon as he said those last three words, the Twins stopped from touching one of the lanterns posted on the wall. “What?” Gobber gave his signature glare that made the two fall back and retreat farther from the object “Okay fine, we won’t touch anything, yeesh” “Good!” Smiling at the twin’s reluctant decision, he whistled happily as he walked to where Stoick was.

Hiccup turned Snotlout, intending to at least have a semblance of being close again “Soooo….” “Shut up, Loser” He walked away before another word could come out of Hiccup’s mouth.

It would be a lie to say Hiccup’s feelings weren’t hurt, because it was. ‘So much for being close friends again’ Hiccup grumbled in his head, upset at the interaction with his cousin.

30 MINUTES LATER…

“I haven’t seen anyone other than the children, only 8 of us are here” Gobber exclaimed not hiding the worrying undertone in his voice.

“You checked?”

“Yes, Stoick, I circled this place 10 times now, my feet is starting to hurt you know” To prove his point, Gobber showed his best friend the condition of his remaining foot.

Stoick retreated back in disgust “Put it down Gobber”. The one-legged Viking shrugged and put his foot down.

Sighing at the horrible situation they are in, the two head back to the children- who are now sitting on the large steps in silence. Probably frightened at being ‘kidnapped’ and dropped in an unknown location.

Snotlout was the first to spot them and stood up quickly “Did you find anything, Chief?” .

Stoick reluctantly shook his head, the teens- who were so filled with hope- already felt it sipping. And here they thought they could at least escape.

“Cheer up guys.!” Everyone turns to a happy Hiccup, though his nervous smile  gave it away.

“Yes we are kinda stuck but at least!” He held a finger “We are in this together, sounds like bonding time if you ask me” He laughed at the last part but no one followed. They just looked at him as if he’s from another island.

“Are you seriously okay..?!” Snotlout let out a disbelieving sound.

The Twins just rolled their eyes and let out a groan. While Astrid just stared at him with pointed glare  “Yes, because being stuck here with you all is fun” sarcasm in her voice as she went back to sharpening her axe with a stone she found.

Fishlegs remained silent, staring everywhere and anywhere all at once.

Gobber sighed but patted Hiccup’s shoulder “You tried, Lad”. Hiccup smiled at that, happy that someone was by his side. Stoick didn’t say anything, tuning out the others when he noticed something sparkling above.

“Gobber! Take a look…” He trailed off.

“Yes, Chief,” Gobber answered. Following Stoick’s line of sight. There was something sparkling but what-

BOOM!

The kids screamed in fright, grasping the stony steps on instinct. Stoick and Gobber readied their fighting stance at whatever intruder headed their way.

“H-heLloO EvVveerRyoNe~”

A cracked voice was heard across the arena. Blocking the Vikings from distinguishing if the owner of the voice was a woman or a man.

“Who are you!?!!” Bellowed the Chief of Berk. A tone filled with anger towards the source.

“MmmY nNamE iS NoT y-you-r p-probLLem. I I a-am H-heRe Tto ShShow you-your f-fu-future!”

The arena was now filled with confusion.

Future?

Fishlegs was quaking in his seat “The Future!?? Can we actually-?!”. But Astrid stopped him “Of course not, watching the future is the gods domain” Disbelief written in her voice.

“We were literally kidnapped in our sleep” Tuffnut pointed out “And transported to this place with no apparent exit”.

Astrid let out a frustrated  groan “Yes but this is the FUTURE, I doubt we can compare it to what had happened to us”. Ruffnut shrugged her shoulders.

“And what if we don’t agree?” Stoick questioned, furrowing his brows as he thinks of a plan on how to leave this place knowing it would all for naught.

“YyOu D-don’tt H-havE a A c-chOIce” It garbled out. The monotone signifying their uncaringness towards the human’s plight. “E-either W-waTCH tThe FuTURE OrR re-remAin ForeEVER iInssiDE”.

Silence was loud in the arena. No one spoke a word at the dilemma they were given. Till one scrawny Viking spoke out in the quietness “How about we just agree?”. Now everyone was glaring at him, except for the twins and fishlegs but they were in their own world.

“Are you that stupid or insane?” Astrid was angry at what the twerp suggested they do. Snotlout followed in that department “Maybe we leave and you stay, Hmph!”. Hiccup just gave the two an exasperated look.

“Son-” Stoick tried to say something but was stopped.

“Listen Dad, either we watch the  future or we stay here for the rest of our lives” Tone filled with conviction, Hiccup tried not to back down from his father’s pressured stare. Key word tried.

He thought his dad would be upset and say something stupid because he’s angry but he was wrong. Hiccup looked at his  dad wearing a thinking expression, something he RARELY see, till  he sighed and looked the boy in the eye.

“Your right”

This got the attention of everyone, who are very surprised.

“He is?”

“Really!?”

“I am?” Even Hiccup didn’t expect it, not the ‘being right’ part, but the part where his dad admitted it to him in front of his peers.

“This being is clearly powerful, we can’t go against them without dying-”

“We keep dying all the time, what’s the difference?” Gobber interrupted behind him.

“And it looks like we are stuck here for the time being, so we might as well listen to the conditions” Stoick ignored his best friend.

Hiccup smiled, glad his dad actually listened this time around.

“SsOO?”

“We Accept, but you must promise not to hurt any of us” Astrid couldn’t help but feel upset the Chief of  all succumbing to the voice but the reasonable part of her knows that it’s for the best or else they all will get hurt in some way.

“....SsUcH VvIiiKings, LeeTTss geget stastarted~” A bright light blinded the vikings and from it emerged a large object that molded itself at the  other side of the arena, facing in a downward position that made it easier to just tilt their necks.

‘It’s like a mirror, but it shows us the future…” Fishlegs thought in awe. He was basically fidgeting in place now to Snotlout’s dismay. “Keep it down will ya, Fishlegs” Snotlout hissed near him. The blonde hair viking apologized and went back to staring at the thing in front of them.

“So this is what we will  use to watch or something?” Tuffnut waved his hands towards it. A bit impressed but nothing they haven’t seen before with their cousin’s fake magic tricks. His twin raised an eyebrow “You don’t look happy, and here I thought you’d be more excited to see the future”.

Tuffnut huffed at his sister’s tone “I am! Just not as of this moment, Ruffnut” Her name drawled on as an insult. Ruffnut punched him to the face causing him to collapse on the stone floor. She laughed at her twin’s expense.

“Will you dunderheads do it later” Jeered Astrid “It’s starting!”.

“Geez, okay” Simultaneously they replied, rolling their eyes at the Female Viking. They turned to the object in front of them, it lit up and shows a dark gloomy island.

Stoick recognized it immediately “Is that—”
