Chapter Text

It was another day. Just like the day before. And the day before that. And the day before that one. You get the idea. To any kid reading this, don’t go into an office. It’s not worth the money.

I was sat at my desk, waiting not so patiently for the CEO to arrive. No one actually knew his real name. He was just CEO. As per usual, he was late. Even though he was the one that decided an earlier starting time was a good idea. A sigh escapes me and I play with the cuff of my suit jacket. Five minutes later, there’s the CEO’s  voice rumbling down the hallway, so deep it probably made the gravel tremble slightly and y/n’s pointless, boring chatter in a voice so high, I swear it makes the dogs outside bark. God… y/n… ever since she joined the company, my life has been living hell. At least the CEO tried with my name before she joined two weeks ago. Now he barely looks at me. An occasional ‘Hello’ or ‘How are you’ even just polite conversation in meetings would be nice. But no. The only thing I receive is plain ignorance or a blame and punishment for whatever thing I did.

The CEO walked in, grunted with a slight head nod and immediately turned to look at y/n again. I noticed her lower lip was trembling slightly, her perfectly blue eyes welling up with tears. Oh god, what now?     I tensed slightly, already knowing the blame would be on me, as I was the only other person in the room. I’d have to change as my suit colour wasn’t right, or not look at her as my eyes were the same as her Dad’s or stop breathing because she said so.

Y/n’s petite hourglass figure shook slightly. Tears started rolling down her cheeks, sobs racking her minute frame.
“Kitten… what’s wrong?” Something that was almost fondness tinted the CEO’s gravelly tones. Y/n looked up at him (she was 4’9, which I assume is a pain to look at the 6’9 CEO) and I knew my ass was getting beat. Y/n said something but it was so high pitch and mixed in with sobs I couldn’t actually understand it. I quietly got my bag and started to walk out, assuming that was the best option. It really wasn’t. The door wasn’t even close by the time the CEO’s hands collided with my head, hurting even more thanks to the bruise he left the day before. Dark spots appeared in my vision for a few seconds, the office more blurred than it was before. I blinked it away, trying to push down the cocktail of feelings and thought swirling round my brain. “HOW DARE YOU?! GLARING AT Y/N?! WHAT NEXT?! PUTTING YOUR HANDS ON HER?!” “I-I’m sorry, sir. I didn’t realise I was doing it.” I managed to get out, trying to keep my tone remorseful.

The cocktail of thoughts was turning into a too-familiar pool of panic that I knew I managed to drown in almost every time. A large part of me wanted to laugh. At how ridiculous this situation was. At the stupid everything is. Which is never a good sign. Laughter only came from me when something was genuinely funny or I was incredibly panicked. And to the average person, this wasn’t very funny. Even with the CEO’s towering frame glaring down at me and the threat of loosing my job handing in front of me, my brain still managed to find it hilarious. I bit back a laugh and masked a smile. The CEO continued to shout for several minutes, then picked y/n up in his unnecessarily muscular arms like a child carried a doll against their chest and walked out. Y/n’s sobs stopped almost immediately and they disappeared into a room further down the hall.

Notes:

I’m so sorry if it’s too short or sucks it’s my first fan fic. I’ll try and keep posting to finishing the fic as soon as possible.
