Waxwell wondered around, already planning his next mischeavous scheme. He first thought of burning Flutter's diary, but he ultimately shot that idea down, not wanting to hear Flutter's loud screaming again.
"Flutter!! Wonder what would happen if your wings were set ablaze!?"
"!!!!!"
"Woah woah… jeez- I-"
"!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"I GET IT I GET IT!! Nevermind-"
"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"ALRIGHT ALRIGHT I'LL GO NOW!! GEEZ!"
After some pondering, he couldn't really think of any good pranks. Not that any of them are 'good' anyway, they backfire on him every snigle time. Honestly, it's kind of ridiculous at this point. He was also getting bored. He wasn't assigned on any runs today and the atmosphere was getting kinda eerie, considering it was Halloween season afterall. Not that he minded of course.
He decided to sneak into an empty elevator and pressed the button to the Halloween Toon rooms. Normally holiday Toons would be more isolated if it wasn't their season, but since it's Halloween, those themed Toons went out more often.
After stepping onto the floor, he thought of which toon's day he should ruin. He opened the door to the pumpkin's room, and there was nothing interesting he could do there. The green ghosts room? …Nope, nothing he could mess up there. He then went to the blue werewolf's room door, but it was locked.
Only the skeleton's room remained. The purple candle opened the door to it and stepped inside. The room itself was pretty cozy, but what Waxwell noticed were a big pile of clothes just tucked in the corner.
Waxwell then perked up with a wonderful, awful idea. What would happen if the pile was just set ablaze? Surely the skeleton would be pissed if her wonderfully fresh pile of clothes were burnt to a crisp, right?
Waxwell approached the pile and proceeded to ignite the entire thing with his candle head wick. He viciously laughed at the bright and firey look of the burning pile. Oh the reaction he'll get out of the skeleton will be priceless!
He was suddenly snapped out of his evil thoughts when he heard the door open and out came the skeleton herself. Waxwell was shocked, hadn't she been assigned to a run today? Surely it wasn't completed THAT fast, right?
The skeleton immediately noticed him and was shocked at the sight before her: Her pile of clothes were on fire and burning to a crisp, all thanks to Waxwell. And she was…
"Thank you so much!!"
Wait… what???
"HUH??!"
"You have no idea how much I've been wanting to get rid of those!"
Waxwell was speechless. Was he imagining this? No, he couldn't be. A part of him felt a bit embarresed. He's gotten this reaction from other Toons many, MANY times. But this felt different somehow.
The skeleton then realized something and backtracked a bit, rubbing her neck.
"Oh I'm sorry, I don't think we really properly met eachother before."
Waxwell managed to somewhat get out of his daze and finally landed his eyes on the skeleton.
"I'm Ribecca, one of the halloween Toons."
Ribecca stared at the purple candle for a moment before continuing.
"You're Waxwell, right?"
Waxwell completely snapped out of his sentiment and awkwardly nodded.
"Yeah? How do YOU know that?!"
Ribecca chuckled, completely unbothered by Waxwell's conscending response.
"You're that prankster from the show who's pranks always backfire, right?"
Waxwell's breath hitched.
"I- WELL- Yes…"
"Nice to meet you then."
They both stood in silence for a moment, the only sound being the fire burning the junk clothes pile. Although Waxwell would never admit it, Ribecca looked pretty for a skeleton. Her purple jacket contrasted surprisingly well with her white skeleton body.
Waxwell quickly shook his head, elimating those thoughts from his head. He was an antagonist for Delilah's sake! He shouldn't be thinking complimentary thoughts. He should be thinking evil!
"Well, it was nice knowing you Ribecca!! But I, Waxwell, must go and plan my next scheme, which I hope will succeed this time. FAREWELL!!"
Waxwell awkardly strutted out the door and went out without saying any other words, leaving Ribecca to deal with the nearly charred clothes on her own.
"Oh well… bye Waxwell- aaand he's gone." She snorted at the already gone candle.
The skeleton turned back towards the junk pile and chuckled at the sight of it. The fire had completely burned out and the clothes were now completely charred. Although Ribecca never told him, the fire also helped warm her up. Since she was just a skeleton toon with no skin, she would complain about feeling cold almost all the time, with her jacket being the only source of warmth.
Speaking of the warmth, Ribecca's thoughts instinctively went back to Waxwell. She never really met him in person before, only knowing him at all through the show, until now. She didn't expect him to act so embarressing, and dare she say, chummy? Ribecca's heart (how) did a little flutter at that thought.
Maybe this was the start of something bigger for both of them.
