Pokémon Survival at Sea: The Harry Potter Story

Summary:

Harry wakes up on a plank in the water. A single plank. He learns that he's in a Pokémon Survival Game. Everyone else has rafts, and he is on a single plank. He doesn't think it's fair, but what can he do about it?

It's time to survive!

GOING TO DO A REWRITE OF THIS STORY AS A SEPARATE STORY AS I'VE COME UP WITH A BETTER CONCEPT...HOPEFULLY!

Chapter Text

Harry gritted his teeth and tried to keep his balance. He'd woken on a single rotten wooden plank in the middle of a vast ocean. A storm was brewing, and he was sure the wind was determined to knock him off the plank. Upon waking, he'd been told that he was in a Survival game in the Pokémon world. It was a sea survival game, at least for now. That's what the game had said. He'd then been introduced to his system screens. He'd checked the chat and saw that everyone else was on rafts while he got a single plank.

"This isn't fair!" He growled as he floated there. "Rafts are much sturdier than this plank. "

He was still wondering what to do. Trash kept drifting over to him, so he picked it up and put it in his very limited Inventory. He had five spaces. Right now, though, he was trying to get to a supply chest in the ocean. It wasn't that far. He was exhausted. He was using his arms to paddle over to it, guiding the plank through the water like a surfboard. He finally reached it and pulled it as close to him as possible. He panted and opened it. His first chest.

x10 Wood, x10 Rope, x 2 Water Bottles, x2 Baps, x6 Pokéballs, Pokédex System Update.

Pokéballs! He needed these to catch Pokémon. He'd been told that Pokémon could help him survive better in this place. The chest vanished just as a Pokémon surfaced not far from him. It swam over to him. This Pokémon had come to visit him several times already since he started this journey. It swam over. He now had the Pokédex system; a screen appeared in front of him. It scanned the Pokémon and gave him a bit of information.

Wailmer

Gender: Female

Level: 1

Moves: Splash

"Wailmer." Harry said, reaching out and patting it as it rubbed against his leg. "Hey, I like you too, but can you back off a moment? You don't have to leave; just give me a bit of space to do something, then you can come right back, okay?"

He didn't know if she'd understand him, but apparently she did, because she swam a bit away. She waited.

"Crafting screen." A screen appeared in front of him. "Upgrade Raft."

His plank began glowing. He'd just gotten enough to upgrade it. When the glowing stopped, he was on a raft that was now 4 sq meters long.

"Okay, Wailmer, come back over." He called. She came right to the side of his raft. He patted her again. She seemed to like that. "Thank you for waiting. It's not much, but it's much safer than what I was on before."

Wailmer made a noise that Harry somehow knew meant that she agreed with him.

"Wish I could feed you, but I can't even feed myself right now."

Wailmer moved a bit away and used Splash. Just like that, fish were lying on his deck. She came back.

"Good job, Wailmer! Good girl." Harry praised. "You're such a smart girl!"

He could tell that Wailmer liked the praise.

"Hey, Wailmer?" Harry asked her and showed her a Pokéball. "You seem to like me, and I like you, so I was wondering: do you want to be my Pokémon?"

Wailmer let out a very pleased sound, and Harry somehow knew that she was agreeing.

Congratulations to Harry Potter for capturing the first Pokémon in the Region!

A reward has been granted.

This echoed three times on the Regional Channel. As Harry let Wailmer back out of her ball, Wailmer celebrated.

Congratulations to Harry Potter for capturing the first Pokémon in the World!

A reward has been granted.

This was broadcast on the World Channel three times as well.

"The first in the world?" Harry wondered. He chuckled at Wailmer. "Guess not all Pokémon are as friendly as you are, friend."

She agreed with him.

Two chests appeared on the small raft while both chat channels exploded. Both were begging to see the Pokémon that he'd caught. He went to both the World and Regional Chat and used his Pokédex entry and picture.

Global/Regional Chat

Harry Potter: Isn't she cute? It says she's a rare version called Shiny, and that means a different color than normal. We're already best friends!

He had fun watching the chats in his peripheral vision as he opened the chests. He hoped for something good.

Stone x10, Beach Ball, Plastic x10, Iron Nails x10, Seawater Purifier x1, Inventory Upgrade Card x3, Pokéharness x1, EV/IV Checker system

He used the Inventory Upgrade Cards right away, increasing his slots from 5 to 20. He checked out the Pokéharness and found that he could attach it to a Pokémon, and it could haul his boat, or he could use it to ride a Pokémon. It was an amazing find. He checked the EV/IV Checker System on his screen and was given a tutorial that made his head pound and his eyes spin.

Luckily, there were two suggestions for builds. The "Juggernaut Tank" build. That relied heavily on Defense and Special Defense EVs, with a few into Speed or Sp. Atk. Or the "Apex Predator," which relied heavily on Sp. Atk and Speed, with a few into Defense.

He didn't know much about Pokémon. Truthfully, he didn't know anything about Pokémon. He'd never heard of it, and given the brief rundown of what a Pokémon was and did, and what this world was all about, he was sure that Dudley and his Gang would have been obsessed with it. Maybe they had been, and Harry just didn't know it?

"What do you think, Wailmer?" Harry asked his purple friend. "Do you want to be a Defensive Tank or an Offensive Powerhouse?"

He could somehow understand that she wanted to be powerful. She told him that her brothers and sisters had picked on her for being born a different color, and she wanted to be strong and powerful so no one would pick on her again and so that she could protect him.

"Okay, then. Appex Predator it is." Harry chose. "Oh, this tells me what Pokémon we need to fight to get EVs for you." He looked at her. "If I put this harness on you and tell you what Pokémon we need to fight, can you take me to them?"

Wailmer agreed after Harry explained what the Harness was. They were soon ready to go.

"Okay, Wailmer, we need to fight the following: Psyduck, Golduck, Remoraid, Horsea, or Seadra."

He understood that Wailmer knew exactly where to find a huge school of these Pokémon and would take them there. Harry made the raft attach to the harness, and they were off.

While they traveled, Harry crafted a small firepit and killed the fish that Wailmer had given him. Thanks to the stone he'd gotten, he'd been able to make this firepit. The system said that if careful, it was safe for him to craft on his raft. When he killed the fish, he got Fish Meat and Poké. He was told that Poké was the money of the world he was currently in.

He found that interesting. He cooked the meat and ate it. He watched Wailmer scoop up fish and eat them along the way as well. He was pleased that she could feed herself. He wanted to know why he could understand Wailmer. He checked out his Status Panel. He found that he had a Talent.

2. 100% Loyalty Rate: Any captured Pokémon instantly reaches max friendship and absolute loyalty. They are completely immune to betrayal.

3. Material Manifestation: Get 1 Blind Box from Arceus a Day!

4. Genetics Purification: Automatically purifies the flaws of any Pokémon, raising their Individual Values (IVs). (1 Use per Day)

5. Hidden Ability Awakening: You can see what a Pokémon's Hidden Ability is, and if you want your Pokémon to have it can unlock it instantly.

6. Divine Speech: You can understand all Pokémon, and they understand you.

"That's so broken." Harry breathed. "That explains why Wailmer was so easy to bond with. She'll never betray me now? Amazing. What did I do to get this blessing? Thank you, Arceus, whoever you are. I'm sorry that I don't know."

AND SO OUR FIRST CHAPTER ENDS WITH A 15-YEAR-OLD BOY RIDING OFF INTO THE STORM ON THE BACK OF HIS BELOVED WAILMER TO BEGIN HIS TRAINING AND SURVIVAL IN THIS STRANGE NEW WORLD.
