Strong, but Make It Normal

Summary:

For twenty-eight years, Seokjin has successfully kept his superhuman strength a secret.

Mostly.

One poorly calculated throw sends a grown man flying across the street and unfortunately, straight into the attention of Jeon Jungkook.

An annoyingly handsome CEO with a growing collection of death threats and an immediate interest in the pretty stranger who apparently treats grown men like sacks of rice.

Jungkook needs a bodyguard. Seokjin needs a job.

Sounds pretty simple?

Turns out pretending to be normal is considerably harder when you’re superhuman.

Falling in love with your boss probably doesn’t help. T_T

Chapter Text

SBMIN

Kim Seokjin spent twenty-eight years of his life pretending to be normal.

For the most part, he looked normal. Lean body, small pretty face, tall nose, doe eyes, cheeks with natural blush and plump pink lips. You know, simple but pretty.

Very pretty actually.

Pretending to be a normal pretty person would’ve been an easy feat only if he couldn’t bend steel with his bare hands, lift grown men like sacks of rice, or destroy innocent furniture whenever he’s frustrated, drunk or losing a game.

Seokjin has set rules for himself so he can safely guard his little secret...

Don’t lose your temper.

Don’t be too confident showing off your strength.

Don’t just punch anyone unless absolutely necessary.

He’s always used his super strength to do good. He knows the consequences of using it carelessly and besides, it’s not like he has any other useful talents. Or at least, that’s what his father has always told him.

So yes, he had been careful. Or at least he was.

Seokjin thought it was a good day to be low-key until he had to intervene and save some poor soul from getting beaten to a pulp in broad daylight and may have accidentally thrown the bully across the street like an unwanted throw pillow.

Yeah. That wasn’t very low-key of him.

Especially because Jungkook witnessed everything.

Jeon Jungkook: obscenely rich, annoyingly handsome and the CEO of a company he built with his own blood, sweat, and tears, far away from his father’s empire and the family that never wanted him in the first place.

Unfortunately, building something successful all on his own also means there are people who would very much like to see him lose everything.

Anonymous threats? Childish. Suspicious packages? Too overrated. Increasingly creative promises of physical harm? THAT. Jungkook can’t ignore.

Jungkook needs a bodyguard. Seokjin needs a job.

It should be a reasonable, mutually beneficial arrangement between two perfectly reasonable adults except, Jungkook is nosy and shameless.

He saw a pretty man with pink rosy cheeks and doe eyes pick up someone twice his size and send him flying across the street like he weighed nothing and immediately thought he was interesting.

Interesting in a LOT of ways…

Then there’s Kim Taehyung.

Seokjin’s childhood friend, a police officer and as far as Seokjin is concerned, Taehyung is practically family.

As far as Jungkook is concerned, no man should be allowed to be THAT close and comfortable to another man who claims to be “just a childhood friend.”

It was ridiculous.

Jungkook is not jealous.

Jungkook has death threats to worry about. A company to run. A superhuman bodyguard whose secrets he is increasingly determined to uncover.

Jungkook absolutely does not have time to wonder why Taehyung knows the brand of underwear Seokjin uses, why Seokjin answers his calls at four in the morning, or how the two of them can share one look and suddenly know what the other is thinking.

No. Jungkook is a busy man and he is absolutely not affected by the way that police officer holds Seokjin’s hand like he’s some fragile little thing. He thinks the police officer should know better than anyone that his precious childhood friend can break people’s bones and put them back together like pieces of a puzzle.

Seokjin, on the other hand, thinks that agreeing to become Jungkook’s bodyguard should be easy enough.

He has the strength for the job. All he has to do is follow him around, keep him alive, collect his paycheck and maybe, just maybe, finally prove that his strength is useful for something other than traumatising furniture.

Maybe his father will finally see his strength as a gift rather than a curse.

Maybe he’ll finally look Seokjin’s way and smile.

A warm, genuine smile that Seokjin hasn’t seen in years. At least, not directed at him.

The task was simple really. He just needs to do a good job.

He just needs to follow his original rules and perhaps a few new ones:

Don’t destroy anything that costs more than your annual salary.

Don’t follow your boss if he asks you to play chicken fight with his secretary just to prove his point.

Don’t let the same ridiculously handsome boss distract you while someone is actively trying to kill him.

Don’t ask why said boss keeps glaring at your childhood friend like Taehyung personally offended his ancestors.

And whatever happens...

Do not fall in love with the man you’re being paid to keep alive.

That rule shouldn’t have needed to be added. But somewhere between the death threats, broken furniture, chasing a psychopath, uncovering secrets, Taehyung-induced jealousy, and Jungkook finding increasingly questionable excuses to keep Seokjin within arm’s reach…

Seokjin realises he might already be screwed.

Notes:

I was rewatching Strong Woman Do Bong Soon yesterday while also on a TaeJinKook high and so the birth of this fic. Hehe 😅

I haven't written anything for a very long time and this is my first Bangtan fic ever too so please don't expect this to be perfect. I'm far from being a good fic writer 😭 I was just really itching to write this down. It took so much courage to actually do this but here we are. 🥹

While this is based from SWDBS, the plot will obviously be a little different with my own plot twists and characters.

This should be around 4 to 5 chapters only. 🙏🏻
