Work Text:
Every man his secret sorrrows which the world knows not and ofter times we call a man cold when he is only sad
A bright, sweltering day in the desert empire was, as usual, no different from any other. .
Until his pharaoh’s attention was drawn to a certain figure, and he decided to investigate. The warrior received no clear explanation and, as usual, without asking any questions, followed his Supreme Leader’s orders.
He didn’t like any of this from the start; it was as if some kind of obsession had taken hold of Boomie. He wanted to gauge this man’s character, to be sure of something. But what? And why? He didn’t know; he’d simply been given an order.
Now that he was face to face with this assassin for the first time, he was simply trying to make sure that his pharaoh’s interests wouldn’t be endangered by this man. . .
Was he ridiculously weak? Sorhin pressed forward relentlessly, and all this swordsman could do was retreat, but even that didn’t save him. He simply used up his totems one after another and, in the end, just gave up. The warrior hadn’t expected anything more from him. He looked pathetic.
Sorhin actually enjoyed showing Evo what their empire was really like and what happens when they’re betrayed. After all, the empire wouldn’t tolerate something like that. It was very funny to watch Evourai hope that he would let WoodsyZ go.
He wouldn't have done that, because in their empire, loyalty is valued above all else.
Then everything went exactly according to the pharaoh’s plan. Boomie warned him that he would drop a minecart on him. It was all part of some plan. But that didn’t matter—since the pharaoh had ordered it, it had to be done. .
Usually, their empire was quiet and peaceful. Soldiers roamed the deserted building, going about their usual routine. And Sorhin…
Sorhin was standing by the throne at that moment. He was listening to yet another idea from his pharaoh. The pharaoh was so enthusiastic about it that he spoke without pause, gesturing as he sat on the throne.
All the brunet could do was stand at attention by the throne and listen to his friend?
To some extent, they really were more than just the pharaoh and his right-hand man. Were they friends? Sorhin sometimes asked himself this question. But every time, he found the answer in Boomie’s actions.
Boomie had warned that they would soon be at the empire; he was waiting for them. He waited by the throne, not allowing himself to sit on it, for that throne belonged to his pharaoh. And upon hearing the commotion, he rushed into battle—exactly as Boomie had planned.
Sometimes Sorhin marveled at how his leader thought through his plans so thoroughly, and how they always went exactly as he wanted. He valued, truly valued, that quality in his leader.
In fact, the fight didn’t last long, and soon there would be a sweet conclusion to Boomie’s entire plan. The warrior awaited it with anticipation, because it would be incredible.
A he trusted his leader.
It was difficult to threaten Boomie.. . .
He tried to choose his words carefully and not press too hard, afraid of doing something wrong and harming his pharaoh.
He had never threatened Boomie, even if it was part of the plan, but he trusted him. And if that was what had to be done—he would do it. Anything for his pharaoh.
The wind blows quite strongly on the roof of their empire, especially when the sun is already setting behind the horizon.
Boomie summoned the brunet to discuss some plans and find the right solution to a problem. He also summoned Sorhin because he trusts him, and the assassin will do anything to protect him. Even if it means standing on the roof of their empire at night, with his bowstring drawn.
Sorhin listens as the pharaoh quietly tells him about a new faction that has emerged nearby, and he plans to pay them a visit—simply to establish good relations from the very beginning.
But the warrior, lowering his bow, reminds him that if it comes to a fight, he’ll destroy anyone to ensure the pharaoh’s safety…
Boomie… just laughs warmly at these words and continues.. Because he knows that Sorhin would do just that. He’s always done so.
The final part of the plan was for Boomie to reveal his true identity. . and it came to pass.
Evourai’s expression was priceless. Those genuine, unfeigned emotions made him smile and laugh. How foolish that boy was.
And watching him fight desperately, trying to escape the wrath of his pharaoh, was laughable. But in the end, he fell. Because his pharaoh was skilled and never made mistakes. .
When he saw that little guy back in their empire, he grew quite concerned. Why was this stubborn swordsman heading toward certain death again? But how wrong he was…
Tons of explosives under the empire—Sorhin never expected that…
It was precisely because of his carelessness and inattention that he died.
For the first time. . . .
Warrior never in his life had geared up so quickly. Because right now, his pharaoh was in mortal danger. Boomie was in danger of dying. . . And he absolutely could not let that happen.
After all, he had sworn to protect him with his own life. .
Rushing out onto the balcony of the imperial building, Sorhin was met with a sight. A horrific sight.
His pharaoh, practically unarmored, was trying to flee from this insolent foe. There was no time to hesitate, but Sorhin was deeply distressed, and for the first time, his hands began to tremble.
Because his pharaoh was in mortal danger—he could lose him just like that. . .
He doesn’t want to lose Boomie.
As he puts on his elytra and looks up, he feels his legs give way.. . .
His gaze meets Boomie’s for a second. Boomie tries to shout something, but the warrior hears only the echo of his own name before. . . .

boomie_ left the game
No. . this can’t be.
Boomie.. .. Boomie was the only person dear to him. He had sworn his loyalty while kneeling before the throne. He swore to protect him with his life.
Sorhin broke his oath. . .
Standing on the balcony of a deserted empire, the warrior touches his scar and is lost in memories of how he got it. .
It happened long before all of this. Back then, their empire was just dawning. . And a fight broke out. The people who started it wanted to reclaim that empire. Their hopes were in vain. .
It was then that Sorhin allowed himself to slow down for a moment and let his guard down while protecting his pharaoh. A single blink was enough to stumble and get scarred. . It didn’t matter that he got scarred—he protected Boomie. And that was precisely his duty.
Then he swore to himself that he would never again let his guard down, not even for a second, because that very second could cost his pharaoh his life. .
Removing his hand from the scar, he takes a few steps back. .
He would never see his pharaoh again. .
Boomie is dead. . .
He. .
He will take his revenge. .
Evourai will beg for mercy, kneeling before him. All for the sake of his pharaoh.
Has life without Boomie become gray? . . .
The desert in these parts has always been fairly quiet, but with Boomie gone, this silence has become unbearable, suffocating, and lifeless.
Sunrise in the desert no longer seems so bright and vibrant; on the contrary, it feels dull and cold. It’s as if the sun went out along with Boomie at that very moment, losing its vivid colors.
Sorhin turned to a couple of people for help. They were his friends, too, but not as close as Boomie. .
Literally a short time later, this assassin stood before them without his armor. It was a pitiful sight. But Sorhin won’t kill him. . not now, because he wants to break him. So that he’ll begin to envy the dead.
He would taunt him every single time. . .
At one such moment, Sorhin returns to the Desert Empire, because that’s where Evo is right now. He leaves a compass there, as if inviting him to yet another fight. .
But there will be more people there than just the four of them. And he’ll humiliate Evourai in front of a larger crowd.
Defeating the army was, once again, quite easy, and Evo was simply abandoned—it was ridiculous. . But as soon as he realized this, his movements became even more uncontrollable. How pathetic he is.
And here, for the umpteenth time, Evourai stands before him—completely unarmored, but still trying. . .
This dark-haired man makes a rather terrible mistake by mentioning—and trying to mock—the fact that he once took a life.
It is at this very moment that Sorhin decides to toy with Evo a little more than he should—to show him his place.
Using a potion of strength, he grips his sword more firmly and heads toward Evo. The assassin’s actions make him smirk. Evo steps back every time Sorhin takes a step forward.
It’s incredibly funny and fascinating to watch this fear play out.
The pupils of his red eyes dart back and forth quite quickly, and this little bird’s breathing quickens. Just like an animal cornered. .
..
.
The next time, in the same spot, things turned out differently. Sorhin actually wasn’t worried anymore that something would go wrong. He’d already shattered Evo’s entire armor three times and enjoyed it every single time. .
But this time was different.
They found themselves trapped. ThatMidnight died instantly. Sorhin didn’t even have time to say goodbye.
And Quakitus… .
He watched as Quakitus’s health dropped from 10 hearts to two in a matter of seconds. . .
Sorhin really didn’t understand why things had turned out this way. It was all supposed to be different.
And the next moment, Sorhin was already running away as fast as he could, but the sound of fireworks caught his attention, and a second later he lost another life—again because of Evoray. .
He was alone again. . .
He had lost two more loved ones and two more hearts. .
He would take his revenge.
One day. .
Having settled in a small cottage somewhere deep in the woods, Sorhin tries to find solitude. He has no loved ones left; he has nothing left of ThatMidnight and Quakitus..
But there is something left from Boomie. A pair of slightly worn gold bracelets. His pharaoh loved gold jewelry, and the assassin still remembers that.
That day, Boomie forgot to put them on because he got too caught up in it. . ..Evo…
A while back, this guy showed up at his door without a shred of remorse… and asked for help? Apparently, he’d forgotten what he’d done to him.
Perhaps it was worth reminding him—and preferably in no uncertain terms.
Upon learning about the Empire of Equilibrium, Sorhin decides to join it in order to achieve one of his goals:
to banish Evoray. .
Imagine his surprise when his goal turned out to be the same as that of the Empire’s leader. He had found a kindred spirit. . .
Smashing totems and practically destroying Evourai was quite inspiring. Even though he was invisible, he was taking his revenge. Sorhin smashed totems just as Evourai had done with Boomie, just as he had done with Quakitus and ThatMidnight.
He did it with pleasure.
During another surveillance mission, he stumbled upon an unusual city in the Nether. It was an amazing city, completely unlike anything Sorhin had ever seen in his entire life.
This was where Evourai must be somewhere. He was his target, and that target had to be achieved: to kill him, and kill him again. .
Catching the guy off guard while he was gathering some materials, he landed blow after blow. The mace, which he had named after his pharaoh. .
Sorhin struck mercilessly, without hesitating for even a second.
Just as the invisible assassin is about to regroup and grab his elytra again, he freezes. .
Standing before him is. . . .
Boomie? . . .
But this isn’t the Boomie he remembered at the moment of his death. It’s someone else. .
This figure was an exact replica, but in shades of gray. The pharaoh’s once-vibrant pink hair had faded to a dark gray, and his bright eyes now resembled black holes. Where there had been a burn mark on his face, there was now some kind of gray substance that had entangled itself like a spiderweb across half of Boomie’s face…
It was at that very moment that a distorted voice reached him:
“?ereh uoy era yhW . .”
The assassin didn’t understand these words at first, but he recognized the ones that followed instantly. . . The pharaoh, or . . . his duplicate? What else could this entity be—it had called his name.
Sorhin had long since lost any hope of ever seeing his pharaoh again. Even if this were just a copy of him.
All that remained for him was to accept it and simply proceed cold-bloodedly toward the goal he had set for himself. .
But it was precisely this moment that shook Sorhin to his core. So much so that he hesitated for the first time since Boomie’s death. . It had been almost a year since he’d seen his emperor. .
Ten months had passed since Boomie’s death.
Perhaps one day they would meet again. And Sorhin would tell him how much he had missed him. How he had flown to the desert time and again just to remember those days when they had ruled the empire together...
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand —
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep — while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
(Poem: "A Dream Within a Dream" by Edgar Allan Poe)
