Back to writing fanfiction! And I have to start with a fanfiction of my favourite pairing Rukawa x Sakuragi, just because Slam Dunk recently got a reboot! Woohoo!!!!! And it just so happens that I have been reading a lot of omegaverse that I have to try my hand at omegaverse.
Multiple warnings and caveats:
- This is BL, so stay away homophobes.
- This is fanfiction, I cannot guarantee that I will be absolutely faithful to the cannon. There has to be some kind of deviation for this to be called a fanfiction.
- This is omegaverse with male pregnancy, enough said.
- This will not be beta-read, so there will be mistakes and formatting issues, I will try to read through before I post to make sure it is easy to read and easy on the eyes, but no guarantees.
- I do not own any of the characters besides any original characters that will be born from my imagination for the sake of the plot line, and this story is not for profit, so don’t come at me.
I realised that I write better when I plan out what I want to write, so here is the premise of the story.
Setting
Alternate universe where omegaverse exist, 2 genders, 3 secondary genders, total 6 gender types.
This world has come a long way from a traditional omegaverse, where alphas and omegas have to be segregated and certain professions are limited to a certain gender type. Everyone will differentiate into either Alphas, Betas or Omegas when they turn 13 years old, but scientific advancements have made it possible for doctors to confirm by age 12 via a blood test that detects the presence and/absence of Omega specific biochemicals or Alpha specific biochemicals produced by the body, if a child is an Alpha, a Beta or an Omega.
Omegas can freely go out in society without being looked down on or having to fear being attacked due to heat symptoms or being affected by an Alpha’s pheromones, as medical advances have introduced two slow acting hormone implants that all Alphas and Omegas are required to take upon receiving their test results at age 12 and again when they turn 20 years old if they have yet to find a mate. The implant also has to be re-inserted every ten years should any individual get married with a partner who are unable to form a bond with them, or wish to remain single throughout their life. The cost of the implant is heavily subsidised by the government as it is very helpful to the populace and society to function with little to no crime.
The Alpha specific implant and Omega specific implant works to suppress the production of biochemicals throughout the teenage years so that the child can safely attend school. During the school years, if either gender type manages to find someone that they wish to mate with, they can inform the government that they will not be getting the subsequent implant at age 20 (if both parties are of the same age, otherwise the older party will have to get the implant until the younger party reaches 20 years old).
Body size and physiques of Alphas, Betas and Omegas are varied. There are small female Alphas, tall and burly male and female omegas and all other sorts in between. Alpha males can bond with and impregnate Alpha females, Omega females and Omega males. Alpha females can bond with and impregnate Alpha females, Omega females and Omega males. Alpha males and females are unable to bond with Beta females, but have no issues with impregnation. Beta males cannot form a bond with Alpha females, Beta females, Omega females and Omega males, but there is no problem of impregnation.
An Alpha bonding with an Alpha does not change one’s gender type. Alpha male pairs, Beta male pairs, Beta female pairs, Omega female pairs, Omega female with Omega male pair and Omega male pairs are also common in this world. Society may not wish for these pairings to take place, but they are accepted by society, because love is still love, even if you do not form a nuclei family. As long you are not causing harm to anyone (if this happens in the real world, we would all be happier, no?).
Bond forming goes both ways, both parties have to be induced into their heat or rut cycle to stimulate the production of the biochemicals so that their respective biochemicals can be extracted from their blood stream then injected into their mate. Hence the government has to be informed and preparations has to be made before the mating process can begin. Regardless of bond formation, all gender types can be married and have their union recognised by the law.
The name format follows Asian style of family name then first name.

Alphas characters:
Rukawa Kaede (because if he is not then what am I writing RuHana omegaverse for?)
Akagi Takenori (I cannot imagine him being otherwise.)
Akagi Haruko (I like her enough despite her infatuation with Rukawa in the original series. If only she was a fujoshi, I would have liked her more.)
Sendoh Akira (I need a rival or threat for Rukawa and Sendoh has always been the one in a number of stories that I have read of RuHana. I do feel sorry for Sendoh though… Maybe there will be a short SenHana as an outtake…)
Minami Tsuyoshi (while researching the characters to refresh my memories of this series, I found out that I had missed out a face that would have appealed to me, past and present! Blasphemous! So, he is going to be another rival for Sakuragi’s love. I have to preface this, the picture of Minami on Toyotama High page of the Slam Dunk wiki is so much better than the original manga.)
Kishimoto Minori (see above comments for Minami Tsuyoshi. Also, that face with the long hair, I just have to put him in the story even though I probably am going to mess up Kishimoto and Minami’s personality.)

Nobunaga Kiyota (just because he is so similar to Sakuragi in almost every sense.)
Fujiyama Rinko (original character, a neighbour big sister character to Sakuragi, because he would need one to help him navigate being an omega)
Hayakawa Junpei (original character, someone who is part of the Rukawa fan club, traditional male omega physique, dislikes Sakuragi because why is the rude monkey catching Rukawa’s attention?)
