Notes:

I decided to make part two a whole new work and make the whole story as a series... Mainly because there is a lot of content to get through.

I've been in Italy for like a month and a half, with no wifi, so that is why I've been so long with 0 chapters to my name for the past month and a half. 😅

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Acceptance (Chapter 1)

Chapter Text

Kaito is back in another room, in another building, on the UA campus.
The main building’s North side was completely charred and unusable, which is a pity.

Kaito has a look out his window, the light of the sunset very vivid from this high up. Walking past the building were all the UA students, from every year and every class. Apparently, they now have to stay with family for a while, until the main building’s North side is rebuilt.

Kaito then jumps into the bed, next to the window, and buried his face in the pillow.

It only happened a few hours ago, but it played in his head on repeat.

~~~~~~~~~~
When Kaito’s eyes met the fire hero guy, he knew what had just happened.
He was internally panicking!
He wished he could teleport away or die. Preferably the first one, but the second one would work too.
The Hero started to walk over, but before he could get quite close, something happened.
He ran away… like a coward!
It was like a primal instinct, in his mind, kicked in and took over!
~~~~~~~~~~

Kaito winces at how bad that unexpected confrontation went and how he looked like a fool in front of his family.

Could he be more embarrassed?

He decides to try and sleep, hoping tomorrow will never come.

~~~~~~~~~~
Dark hair. Blue eyes.
Cold glare staring at his face.
That cold glare then turned to excitement. “Hey! He’s waking up!” Then dad looked at someone else out of Kaito’s vision.
Kaito can only see what’s in front of him and even that is hard to make out.
“Aww, look how small and cute he is!” the other person spoke. They sounded female, from what he could tell.
“Are you sure he’s meant to be this small? He’s not even the size of my shoes!” Dad spoke again. From what he could tell, dad got smacked in the head.
“Are you insane? Is the correct size for a boy! He is much bigger than I was when I was a baby!” the woman shouted at dad. But dad just smiled and said,
“Ok! Ok! I’m sorry. Thank you.”
Then dad looked straight at him. “Kaito, what are you doing?”
‘Nothing dad!’ Is what he wanted to say, but all that came out was his own crying.
Dada looked over at him and then scooped him up, really hastily. To Kaito, it felt like a rollercoaster ride without a handlebar.
Finally, it stopped and he was face to face with his dada. Dada looked remorseful and sad. It was the most terrifying thing Kaito might’ve even seen.
“You looked scared, Kaito. Why are you scared of your old man? After all, you killed me, remember?” dada said with this smile on his face.
~~~~~~~~~~

Kaito then woke up, like he was rudely kicked out of his own dream. Thankfully he did nothing embarrassing, because someone was in the corner of his room, but she left quite quickly.

Kaito couldn’t really wrap his head around his nightmare. So he does the best option he has and forgets about the nightmare.

It’s not like he has to remember it.

Then the Detective guy comes in, on the phone. He hangs up his call and starts talking, “Ok, are you ready yet?” He looks down at Kaito, who is still in his pyjamas. “I guess not.” the Detective says, heading towards the clothes. “Wear these.” he ordered Kaito, throwing clothes that perfectly hit Kaito’s head and draped over his face.

“Thanks a lot.” Kaito answered, unimpressed, as he took the white t-shirt off his face.

“No problem, but you’d better hurry up. I managed… Endeavour managed to get the whole Todoroki family to see you. He said this is the only day, so get your ass moving!” he told Kaito.

Hearing this made Kaito stop. “Wait. Why today? Didn’t I see him yesterday? Doesn’t he want to wait a day or two?” Kaito asked.

“Apparently not.”

Kaito’s face was full of confusion. “Wait, I have to go meet them today? These people I’ve never met?”

“That's not true. You’ve met Endeavour and Shoto.”

“That doesn’t make it any better Detective guy!” Kaito shouted.

“I’m not ‘Detective guy’. I’m Tsukauchi.” Tsukauchi told him. Kaito looked in surprise,

“Shit, really?”

“I’m pretty sure I’ve told you before…” Tsukauchi said.

“Must’ve forgotten it.”

Kaito then pulled the white t-shirt over him, poking his head through the hole. “Ok, I’m ready.”

The two of them walked out, Kaito behind the Detective. Kaito had a suspicion that the Detective wasn’t happy he forgot his name, but Kaito genuinely did forget it.

Kaito remembered they left the building and walked through the UA grounds, past the main building, which is kinda a bit charred on one side right now. Then getting in a random car and driving for like half an hour. Until they got to this house.

The house entrance looked very traditional, but screamed wealthy. The wooden designs looked really cool. Kaito really wanted to see the rest, but obviously there is a brick wall surrounding everything but the entrance and he is way too small to look over any wall.

Tsukauchi led Kaito inside and made him take off his shoes at the entrance. Kaito has never done this in his life, in the League hideout he would be allowed to sleep and even take showers in his shoes! Then after that, he got led across the mansion, down different paths and eventually to a room, with a classic Japanese door, that was closed.
He knocked.

Then a voice he recognised, “Come in.” It was grandpa’s voice.

Tsukauchi opened the door and the light, from the other door on the other side of the room, came to greet him. He didn’t look at any of their eyes, only his surroundings.

Inside the room, was a low table and cushions to sit on around the table. The lamps, however, looked extremely modern and had this curving shape. Traditional, small oil paintings were on the walls, along with a very plain wallpaper. There were no windows, but that door from the other side of the room brought enough light in anyway. Past the wide open doors, there seems to be a courtyard/ garden and Kaito could even hear the sound of rushing water coming from out there.

“Is this him, dad?” a girl asked. All eyes then went to her, even Kaito’s.
Kaito saw her, she looked around early 20s, with mainly white hair and grey eyes.

Kaito could see the similarities in her and himself a little.

“Looks like it to be honest…” someone chimed in. It was a guy, who looked maybe a tiny bit younger than the girl. He had plain white hair, closest to Kaito’s hair so far, and those same grey eyes.

Although, unlike the girl, he didn’t want to be here. Everyone could tell.

“I’ve met him before, it was a shock when Nezu told us we were related. Do you remember that?” Shoto said, looking at Kaito directly. Shoto didn’t really change one bit.

Then all three siblings started talking, all saying different things. Kaito couldn’t even tell if they were about him or something else.

“Ok, so I’m confused. How do they know he is related?” the girl asked her dad. Endeavour sat at the head of the table, his back to the other door, facing Kaito.

“Apparently the DNA test is what was found out.” Endeavour said, sitting there like a statue.

The girl then got up and walked to him, “Well you must be hungry, aren’t you little guy?” she asked, in that babyish voice. Kaito had to physically not want to run away or not look to be put off by what she said. He just nodded.

“Take a seat then. Is soba ok? I made some especially for you. They can be cold or warm, your choice.” the girl offered, showing him the seat and letting him sit down.

“Umm, I’ll have it hot please.” Kaito answered, hoping he said the right thing. To be honest, he’s used to takeaway meals, so he has no clue what homemade soba looks like. He really just said the hot option in a rush.

The girl nodded and quickly got the plates of finished food left on the table and left the room, through the door Kaito came through.

Now she was gone, the whole room went tense. Kaito made eye contact with all three of them at some point, Shoto more than the others.

It was awkward.

“So, you like hot soba? Why not cold?” Shoto asked. No one knew if it was to break tension or if he was just asking because he really cared about soba.

Kaito thought that question would be hard to answer and would make him nervous. It most certainly did.

He clutched his fist, under the table. “I just prefer my food warm.” he answered quickly, keeping it as vague as possible.

—-------

Shoto got his answer and then looked down at where his lovely bowl of cold soba was, just a minute ago. He didn’t think his dad would actually ask him to come home for once, but Shoto had a feeling it was about Kaito. To be truthful, Shoto really can’t stop thinking about it.

Fuyumi then came back, sitting between Kaito and Endeavour. She was holding a lovely bowl of hot soba, the steam rolling off the noodles in beautiful waves.

It was placed in front of Kaito, but the boy didn’t reach for it. He just sat there, like it would be disrespectful if he even touched it.

“Go on. You can eat it. What’s your name, little guy?” Fuyumi asked Kaito.
The boy picked up the chopsticks next to him, they looked hard for him to use, but he got it eventually.

“My name is Kaito.”

“Kaito! That's such an adorable name!” Fuyumi exclaimed delightfully, “Do you want to tell us about yourself?”

Fuyumi being an elementary school teacher is definitely helping this tense atmosphere.

“Umm. I’m 8. I was born on the last day of August. I have a fire quirk. I used to have a dad, but he died. I don’t know my mum. And I-i-i…” Kaito didn't really know what to say and he started stuttering near the end. The boy looked like he didn’t know anything, which is a bit strange…
The room goes quiet.

Fuyumi takes his hand. “Hey, it’s ok. We won’t judge you. What would you call your favourite dessert?” Fuyumi asks.

Shoto thinks that question is a bit random and he can see he’s not the only one. Natsuo, next to him, also looks genuinely confused. It must be some school teacher technique.

“Umm. I love doughnuts.”
