She's Dancing 'Round Like Nobody's Watching

Summary:

Trinity just needed a night out before going back to the hell that has become the Pitt.

She wasn't expecting the night to end with Victoria in her arms.

Notes:

I'm actually surprised I managed to keep it this short. Anyway, enjoy!!

Work Text:

...

Trinity is used to surprises, usually bad ones. Her whole life has been being bombarded with bad news and being expected to react to it like recieving said news like it was normal.

She wasn't surprised at the fact that she was drained before even going to work. She wished she was like a normal person and took the day off to relax and actually breathe. But no, she had to suffer through the whole day moping around.

From the moment she went to sleep, she knew she would need a pick me up the day after. She actually knew the moment she clocked into work the day prior; she could tell it was going to be a rough one. She was right, as usual. It was unnecessarily draining: three kids she had to watch barely make it, two traumas that definitely looked un-accidental, and god knows what else she can't quite remember.

She had a bad week really. Sure, the span of a week while working in the emergency room wasn't really expected to be great, but this week had Trinity feeling exceptionally shit. She's pretty sure everyone had a bad week; at least she wasn't alone in that. She had felt it flowing throughout the whole department; she wouldn't be surprised if most of her coworkers felt similar to her. It was as if someone pressed the wrong switch, everything would light on fire. So it's been going great.

She thought once she got home yesterday, some of the weight from the day would lift off her shoulders. That was definitely not the case, hence why she's in desperate need to go out before she walks back into that place.

She can't go by herself, of course. The entire point of compartmentalizing her problems wouldn't work if she went by herself. The noise is too loud for that, which is why she needs company. She was just surprised to find that it would be with Dennis.

"Wait, did you just say yes? Without me having to ask 20 times? I'm gonna start thinking you're like hanging with me if you keep it up Huckleberry." Trinity chuckles, in disbelief that she didn't have to pull out her very successful persuasive skills.

"I do, even though I know you're going to hold that over my head forvever-" Dennis sighs as he rolls his eyes.

"Definitely." Trinity nods, confirming his suspicions. She smirks as she watches his shoulders slump down.

"Anyway, I guess it won't kill me to go out., even though I hate doing it the night before work. I'm letting you convince me. I had a bad day today, so why not?" Dennis looks as tired as she is, so she won't prod him anymore about his bad day. The deeper eye bags below his eyes do it enough.

"You won't regret it, or you will. I'm telling you, it might be even better than going the day before an off day. The regret the next morning just makes it more thrilling." Trinity enthusiastically wraps an arm around his shoulder, directing him to his bedroom before he can change his mind.

"I'm starting to think saying yes was a mistake by the way you're describing your experience." Dennis winces, stumbling after Trinity shoves him into his bedroom.

"Well think no more. You already said yes, you don't wanna break my heart do you? Get dressed Huckleberry. We're gonna get so drunk." Trinity reaches to close his door before he can deny her. He's going to have to deal with the consequences.

And deal with the consequences he is. He tries to look annoyed the whole Uber ride there, but Trinity can see right through him. Just like he said, he needed a distraction. Trinity had granted him one and he can't even pretend not to like the idea.

Trinity would like to know what made Dennis go all out of character. She'll think about that later when she isn't already two drinks in, with Dennis not too far behind her. It isn't like she blames him for not wanting spill all of his feelings to her; she isn't that inclined to do so herself.

"Having fun Huckleberry?" Trinity smirks as he settles into a seat next to her. She definitely is having more fun than she would binging some show she wouldn't even be paying attention to.

"I can't really answer that when we just got here. And you're already two drinks in. How did you do that?" He looks at her with genuine confusion, along with a hint of concern. She can tell he doesn't want to be overbearing. He's just failing miserably at it.

"A magician can't reveal their secrets. Maybe I'll teach you some other time." Trinity laughs at her own joke before nudging him in the shoulder.

"I think I'll let you be the specialist in... whatever this is." Dennis gestures towards her face with a furrow in his brow, his eyes darting to her already empty glass.

"Well let the specialist get you the best drink to get your night started." Trinity leans further against the countertop to wave down a bartender yet again.

"Ok, not too much. One of us has to be conscious enough to open the apartment door. Actually, please don't fall unconscious; I'm not as strong as I look." Dennis jokes, or at least she thinks he's joking. He isn't being serious, right?

"Strong as you look? You are as strong as how you look. You're like the most scrawny looking mouse boy I've ever seen. Trust me, I wasn't relying on you to haul me up to our place." Trinity chuckles once she realizes he says it with a straight face. That was a good joke; she needed that laugh.

"I should've stayed home." He mumbles with a deep frown on his face. He doesn't even believe that.

"Oh no, but who would've carried me home like a damsel in distress?" Trinity can't hold herself from laughing at her own joke. She really is the funniest person she knows.

"Fine. I'll let you get home by yourself then." Dennis mumbled under his breath. Yet again, another statement he doesn't mean in the slightest.

"No seriously, I needed that laugh." Trinity sighs out as she sees Dennis cross his arms across his chest.

"Ok, I'm gonna go... mingle." Dennis really is terrible at storming off. She's sure he'll be back in ten minutes tops.

"How are you gonna abandon me and I was the one to invite you out? This is not how you thank me Huckleberry." Trinity shouts over the music as he shoots her a middle finger as he walks away.

"I'll be back." Liar. Just like everyone, he didn't come back. Well, not as soon as Trinity thought he would.

He was not back. Well he was eventually, it just felt like so long. It was hard not to feel like she was drowning in this crowded place. The whole point was to bring someone along so she wouldn't feel alone. Now that plan isn't even working.

She's being dramatic really; Dennis has only been gone for a little over 10 mintues and she's spiraling, staring into her drink like a loser. She was supposed to be escaping her loserism, but she can see now that her plan really wasn't sound enough to do that.

Wallowing away, waiting for Dennis to come back, she only feels more sorrow as she looks around to see no one else alone. Then again, who comes out to a lively bar to be alone? Trinity that's who!

No one else is staring into their drink, which now tastes sour, like it personally offended them. Everyone else is doing what Trinity should be doing, what she is normally doing.

She's usually the one people would see mingling, as Dennis lamely put it; maybe his lameness is rubbing off on her. She's usually the one vibrantly chatting it up with some random stranger, possibly flirting at any pretty girl she sees. Instead she's on the sidelines tonight looking like a kicked puppy.

She's usually the one ordering endless drinks. She's so out of it she stopped at three when Dennis left. She is all too aware of her surronding for her like.

She's usually dancing like she has no care in the world when the exact opposite is true. It's a great way to act like the thing you're doing in the moment, feeling the lyrics, dancing to the rhythm, is the most important thing at that moment in your life.

Trinity can't even do that right. She doesn't have the energy in her. It must have all worn off on Dennis, who's been gone surely longer than 15 minutes.

"Fuck my life." Trinity sighs to herself, propping her arm up to lean her face against it.

She hasn't even made an effort to rid herself of this nasty mood she's been in for days it feels like. She forfeits this round. All she can do is live vicariously through the strangers that catch her eye.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, she's a little too drunk to decifer in the moment, the wrong person catches her eye. Definitely wrong for her mood, but good for her eyes. The person she catches only makes her more aware of her mood.

Trinity hasn't even been known to have a staring problem, but it sure feels like she's developing it right now. She couldn't help but stare as her eyes caught the woman from across the room.

She couldn't see her face, but she didn't reallg need to. Trinity could tell she was pretty by her energy. Sure the pretty features Trinity could see were enough to know.

Dark, long black hair flowing down her back had Trinity's swaying side to side as she did. That accompanied with bare skin of her shoulder, smooth and soft looking even from where Trinity was sitting. A jean skirt and a lavender top that was backless also added to the allure of this mystery woman. It wasn't much, like she said, but it was enough.

Her looks weren't really caught Trinity's attention, although it made her stay. Sure Trinity probably would've sought her out even if she saw her standing still. What really entranced Trinity as she lay her eyes on her was the dancing.

It felt weird to think because there were tons of people dancing, they're all here for a night, why wouldn't they be? Something about this woman though; the way she dances in a crowd full of people. She almost looks... lost.

All she needs is a spotlight and she's in a duet with herself. She moves like she's missing a partner. Her arms extended out like she's reaching for someone who isnt there. She looks lonely. Trinity has half a mind to walk up and join her, so neither of them would be alone any longer.

There is something Trinity finds beautiful about it as she observes. She almost looks solemn in her movements, longing for something. Trinity could be misreading it completely because she couldn't even her food, but just the way she holds herself looks like she isn't totally contempt with herself and her surrounds.

Or maybe Trinity is projecting. She's the one who feels completely alone and latches onto the first person she sees that, in slightest, resembles her emotions. She's probably projecting.

But the longer she looks, the longer lets herself be transfixed at the tension in her shoulders, contrasting the looseness she sways her hips with, the more Trinity feels like the woman wants someone to think about her like this.

She's dancing as if no one is looking at her but is quietly begging they would. Trinity feels like she's looking right at her. It's like the woman can see Trinity and all her thoughts.

"Hey, are you still alive in there?" A tap on her shoulder, and Dennis' voice startling her, Trinity quickly turns her head towards him.

"Jesus, drop a pen or something. I could've dropped my drink." Trinity sighs out once her nerves settle upon realization of who is in her space.

"I don't think you could hear a pen in this place. Plus you weren't even drinking that." Dennis points out. He's been arguing back with her far too often her liking since she invited him to live with her.

"Semantics Huckleberry." Trinity sighs, her eyes finding same lavender top her eyes were so transfixed on before Dennis so rudely interrupted.

"Oh Victoria, yeah I didn't know she was here either. You didn't invite her right?" Dennis follows her line of sight and sits back down next to her.

"That's Victoria?" Trinity sounds shocked when she speaks. She's pretty her eyes widen abnormally and her mouth hangs open a little. The woman she had been staring for who knows how long, is Crash? How did she not recognize her? Well, to be fair, it isn't like Trinity had been unreasonable amount studying Victoria's back before tonight.

"Yeah you didn't know? I thought that's why you were staring." Dennis is as confused as her, just not for the same reasons.

"I was not staring." Trinity didn't even know why she was lying. It was pretty obvious she was staring.

"Sure." He seems unconvinced. Great, now they're in the same boat. Trinity was trying to convince herself more than him.

"Why'd you think I even invited her anyway?" Trinity asks, eyes not on Dennis at all, scanning to see if she could put a face to supposed Victoria.

"Because you like her." Dennis replies like it's the most obvious thing in the world.

"That's a good joke. Wait, you're serious? I do not like her! She nice and all, ok maybe not, but no. We're like friends, kinda." Trinity's denies with a little too much effort to be innocent in what Dennis accused her of. Ok, fine, she may have had a small crush on her when they first met, now that she thinks about it. That small crush might've never gone away, just lingered, low enough to where Trinity could ignore it until now.

"Whatever you say." Dennis shrugs off. Trinity can tell he trying not look smug about knowing that isn't entirey true.

"Anyway, I'm gonna go say hi since we're sort of friends. You coming?" Trinity doesn't like the look he's giving, so she comes up with the perfect escape to change the topic. Ok, maybe she was looking for an excuse to talk to her mystery woman after she found out she wasn't a mystery at all.

"No, I'll go later. I thought you were mad at me not staying in one place?" Dennis huffs, throwing his hands up once Trinity stands up.

"It's my turn now Huckleberry. Maybe you'll feel bad then." Trinity waves him off, shimming her shoulders in between people as the place getting more crowded while making her way to Victoria.

She wasn't drunk enough for this but she's going to do this anyway. She was hoping to build up some courage and make her way over to mystery woman. She should be happy she doesn't have to anymore.

Who is she kidding; she even more nervous than she was before. Now that she knows this is Victoria, she can't just stride over there with her usual charming lines ready to be to pulled out her back pocket. It was supposed to be easier now that she knows that Victoria is someone familair.

It's only harder because she doesn't know how to approach this. Victoria doesn't really like her per say. Their relationship can be described more as Victoria tolerating her. It makes her think, should she even be walking up to her?

It's too late to turn back . Trinity wasn't even sure if she was going to anyway. As soon as she the dancing from the bar, she had made up her mind about the woman. That doesn't change just because it's Victoria.

Trinity can feel her hands getting sweaty as she starts gets getting closer. She was never this before nervous, why is she acting like this? Should she tap her on the shoulder or meet her face on? She can't just approach her like they talk everyday, because they don't. Victoria makes it very clear she would prefer if it stayed that way.

She doesn't allow herself to think about it anymore or else she'll chicken out. She just lets the little bit of drink she can actually still feel be the driver of her actions.

Trinity almost forgets her whole before Victoria turns her body towards her, relieving Trinity from the dilemma had going on in her head. She forgets to breath once Victoria's face.

She looks even better now that actually put a face to a person that made her feel so seen without even looking her. She looks... exactly how Trinity imagined. Not that she imagined Victoria when she didn't know it was her.

It just matches. She looks soft and definitely like she doesn't want to be bothered. She looks like she's contemplating a lot; Trinity wonders if she looked like that. Well, Victoria is going to have to finish contemplating later; maybe they can make it a date.

"Fancy seeing you here Crash." For all the possible things to say, that wasn't realy one she was going to pick out, but here she is. She about to not be here once she sees Victoria's eyes open, breaking the peaceful state she looked to be in before Trinity was in front of her.

"Trinity? What are you doing here?" Trinity watches Victoria's face morph into confusion from shock, and to mild annoyance from peace. She would feel worse about it if she didn't find the face Victoria made so cute.

"I should be asking you that. Isn't it past your bedtime?" Trinity questions jokingly with a playful smirk on her face. She pats herself on the back aith how easily she's able to slip into her usual demeanor. This is normal, she can do this.

"Ha ha, very funny. Actually, I was about to head home, so bye." Victoria rolls her eyes and pivots her hips to walk away.

"Come on, I was joking. Look, I was going over to say hi after I noticed you. You don't have to leave because of me." Trinity reaches to grab Victoria's gently to make her stay. She didn't build up all that courage to just watch her walk away.

"I wasn't going to leave just because of you." Victoria scoffs in denial, crossing her arms, slipping from Trinity's grasps. The immediate and ineffective denial made Trinity smile; just Crash behavior.

"Yeah? That's definitely what it looked like." Trinity leans forward, mirroring the crossing arm with Victoria, with a smug look on her face

"I wasn't, I've just had enough of tonight." At least consistent in her denial. It was probably true with how Trinity watched how moved not even five minutes ago.

"You know that's not really helping the last your bedtime joke I made, right? It's barley past ten." Trinity couldn't but help to tease her a little more. If she wanted her to stop, she should stop getting so riled up at it and giving Trinity the reaction she wanted.

"Shut up. Ok maybe I was trying to get away ftom you, but if you were me, you'd understand trust me." Victoria sighs out of frustration. She can definitely believe the sincerity of her words with how irked she looks with her.

"I don't know, I'm pretty great." Trinity smiles at her like she wants her approval. Maybe she does, just a little.

"Ok, you said your hi you know. Can I go?" Victoria sounds exhausted from this interaction already but she is no longer looking like she's ready run to the door. If anything, she looks like she wants to stay here.

"You can leave if you really want. I just wanted to talk." Trinity speaks sincerely this, no smirk on her face, no hint of humor in her face. She doesn't need to because she knows Victoria is going to stay. That's what her body being turned all the way back towards Trinity is telling her anyway.

"That's it? You wanted to talk with me?" Victoria raises her eyebrows in suspicion. Is what she's saying really that unfathomable?

"Are you insinuating that I would come over for something other than talking? I'm flattered that you think of me like-" Trinity smirks, flaunting almost at how quickly she managed to turn Victoria's innocent and cautious question into that. She tries not to let her ego inflate too much as she gets a shove and laugh from Victoria as well.

"Shut up, you know that's not what I meant." Victoria pushes Trinity gently by her shoulder, making her smile at the fact that she found that funny. Victoria always acts like her jokes aren't funny enough to laugh at. Or maybe she doesn't want to feed her ego, because getting a laugh out of her definitely did that.

"I know, you recognized that it was a joke this time. Gold star for you." Trinity hums playfully as she presses her thumb into Victoria's shoulder like she's giving her a sticker.

Trinity thought she had gone a step too far because that's what she always does with Victoria. During shift, she gravitates towards her, trying to get her crack a smile and give her something. It works most of the time, then it doesnt because Trinity doesn't know how to stop looking for more.

Victoria gives her one look of approval, one nod, one sliver, or a half of laugh, and Trinity goes into overdrive trying to make it happen one more time while she sees. She's always been greedy. She can never stop herself from taking more she's given.

She doesn't fuck up this time though; Victoria is still here. She gives her another disapproving roll of her eyes but does nothing more than that. That fees like a success. Trinity realizes she's just been fucking staring at her this whole time and that if she doesn't talk, this will very much turn unsuccessful.

"Hi." Idiot, idiot, dork. She probably had the stupidest smile on her face while she said that too. It's over, she should just go home now before she embarrasses herself even more.

"Hi." Victoria responds softly, eyes looking up at Trinity. Ok, maybe not. She can do this.

"Since I didn't do it before. I'd feel kind bad if I didn't do the thing I came over to do." Trinity is spittballing here. She hopes the look of pleading and desperation in her eyes will get Victoria to notice she's struggling to hide that she's sweating bullets.

"Hmm, I see. Well, now that your mission is accomplished, are you gonna stop bothering me?" Victoria throws her a bone, thankfully. She can work with this. She's used to this: Victoria with a slight, proud smirk on her face, knowing that she caught Trinity off guard.

"We haven't talked yet so, no. Mission isn't accomplished yet. You're stuck with me for a little longer." Trinity shakes her head, grasping at something to say next. Seeing Victoria in this outfit is kind of distracting her.

"Oh you were being serious about that? I thought this was it." Victoria chuckles nervously, eyes darting away from Trinity.

"Friends talk, don't they?" Trinityy questions. Maybe Trinity should make it more of an effort to bother her since she thinks they arent friends.

"We're friends?" Victoria lifts an eyebrow, as if Trinity says something so outlandish, Victoria doesn't even think Trinity believe what's coming from her own mouth. She's slightly offended but doesn't show it.

"Ok, well I've tried to be but you're very stubborn, you know? Luckily for you, I don't give up easy. You're stuck with me trying." Trinity hopes she knows she means it. She isn't a quitter.

"Lucky me." Well put a little more energy into Crash. Inside thoughts can stay inside thoughts this time; if she said that to her face, she would definitely run off.

"People would kill to be in my company you know." Victoria doesn't look like she buys the lie for a minute, but a girl can hope. Trinity's got to instill her self-confidence somehow.

"I'm sure." Victoria mumbles under her breath, sounding very under impressed. Trinity is surprised she hasn't lost her attention yet. This is usually the part where she's had enough of her.

"You know, you're a better dancer than I thought you be." Trinity knows she could've lead into it without sounding like a creep but that was all she could manage to spit out. She speaks like it was consuming her thoughts because she's sure that is what will be happening once she leaves.

"You saw?" Victoria shrinks into herself a little, as if she's ashamed. Trinity dumbly almost blunts out that Victoria shouldn't be ashamed because she thought it was beautiful. Almost, she isn't that stupid.

"Kinda hard not to." Trinity shrugs, acting like the statement she just made wasnt the opposite of the nonchalant way she was acting about it.

"I don't know, it kind of is with all these people here. Trinity Santos, were you paying attention to me?" That sounds like something she would say; hearing the cadence of Victoria's words, similar to Trinity's, makes her smile and roll her eyes. No wonder Victoria is always annoyed with her. Trinity is annoyed and endeared at the same time; she wonders if it's like that for Victoria.

"Don't let this get to your head, but yes. You're good, seriously." Is this flirting, she has no clue. Don't not ask her because she doesn't know. All she knows is that her heart is racing and that her cheeks are getting red. This definitely feels like she's trying to flirt.

"I am letting this go to my head. You never give me a compliment without back handing me." Victoria seems genuinely happy about. Trinity ignores the way she pockets the reaction for later.

"I do. I have no idea what you're talking about." Ok, now that she thinks about it, maybe not. Or maybe once and that instance she can't remember.

"Right, I bet you can't name one time." Victoria tilts her chin up, challenging her to say something that will prove her wrong.

"I would... if I wasn't drunk. Catch me next time." That was a terrible excuse because Trinity barely has a cloud in her thoughts as she's standing here in front of Victoria.

"Bullshit." Victoria scoffs. Trinity can't tell her she's right because she's already inflated her ego was too much. Trinity doesn't have a response for the honest truth Victoria just gave her, so Victoria speaks next.

"You know, I came to like, I don't know, rebel. And I ended up feeling like shit. And a guy even offered to dance with and he fucking stood me up. So yeah, I guess I... appreciate that you came over to tell me that. So, thanks." Well someone's else is definitely drunk. Victoria herself realizes as she slaps a hand over her mouth in embarrassment after she practically spilled her guts to Trinity.

"I don't know why I told you all of that. I'm drunk. I'm so so-"

"Dude, relax. I'm not judging. I'm a great listener, sometimes. A guy you said, did ya like him?" Trinity frames it like she's interested in actually knowing what she thought about him, but she's really trying not to roll her eyes at the fact that someone other than her tried to talk to Victoria tonight. Seriously, this is her one chance and other people are trying to ruin it.

"I don't know. I like that someone came up to me and noticed me. I didn't feel anything though, not for him." Those words sound like heaven to Trinity's ears. A big sigh, probably big enough that it was noticeable, comes out as her shoulders relax.

"You don't look surprised." Victoria tilts her head in confusion. Good she didn't catch the big sigh of relief thing then.

"Crash, you're like the most sheltered person I've ever met, I'm not surprised that you liked some attention on you. Who wouldn't?" Trinity explains, shrugging like it was the most obvious thing in the world. At least to her it was.

"I can't really help it." Victoria mutters under her breath, scratching the arm she's holding nervously.

"I wasn't saying that to blame you, you know." She could've worded that better. That's what everyone says, 'no one wants to be around someone who's blunt all the time Trinity. Tone it down'. She should've know she was going to fuck up eventually.

"I guess." Great, now she isn't even looking at her anymore. One step forward, two steps back. Can Trinity, for the life of her, stop making negative progress for once im her life?

"For what it's worth, so like probably nothing, something you don't want to hear definitely-" Trinity feels the words on the tip of her tongue, a foolish attempt to lift her spirits and partially make her intentions known, are too hard to say.

"Spit it out Trinity." Rude, hot. Victoria's gaze at her turns into a glare almost, highlighting her impatience. When will she speak to her like that again is the question.

"I'm noticing you, always have." Trinith tries not to internally cringe at putting her heart on her sleeve but the reaction was worth. The relaization spreads across Victoria's face and settles with a small smile.

"You are. It's worth a substantial amount by the way." Victoria softly speaks, like she's letting the words Trinity spoke to her sink in, resting there to make her heart bloom.

"Substantial amount? You're such a fucking nerd." Trinity laughs, shaking her head in disbelief.

"Well apparently you noticed this nerd so, what does that say about you?" Victoria retorts, visibly proud of herself for that one. Trinity is too, no matter how much she wants not to be.

"A lot I guess." Trinity admits reluctantly, rolling her eyes once more as Victoria leans closer to her.

"So... you know how I said that guy stood me up and since you were staring me maybe you'd want to- well you don't have to-" Victoria stumbles over her words just lie Trinity had a few moments ago. It definitely wasn't as cute on her as it is on Victoria.

"You're asking me to dance? I'd love to dance with you. Just don't like make the talent bracket too large to make me look bad." Trinity puts her out of her obviius memory, asking and answering the question for her. She'd do it again if it meant she gets a cute, nervous nod and brown eyes blinking up at her in excitement.

"I'm sure you'd make yourself look stupid on your own. You have a talent." Victoria's words are meant to have sting but Trinity doesn't feel any of it once Victoria grabs a hold of her hand.

"Ouch Crash, I thought we were at least being cordial." Trinity jests, wincing as if her words had pained her.

"Oh we're more than cordial now, trust me." Victoria leans in, closer than she had been tonight, her voice making Trinity's chest do a weird, futtering thing. When and where did she learn to flirt? And why was that so hot? It definitely didn't with the fact that Victoria's arms are settled on each of her shoulders, pulling her closer. Trinity thought she would have to be the bold one.

"Oh, uh, cool." Trinity wants to slap herself for coming up with only that, but her hands are a little occupied with being on Victoria's waist.

"Why are you being weird?" Victoria eyes her like she just watched her choke or something. She did, just on her words. That's probably worse.

"I'm not being weird. Stop looking at me like that." Trinity feels herself cowering under her gaze. She thought she wanted Victoria to look right through her but she has quickly changed her mind.

"Like what?" She hates the smirk on Victoria's face. So much for not wanting her to look right through her. She knows exactly how she's looking at her.

"Nothing. Nevermind." She's not going to say that Victoria is making her nervous because one, that's embarrassing, and two that's embarrassing. It's not like Victoria doesn't know that already.

"Seriously though, you look like a good dancer. You have that look, I don't know." Victoria shrugs, refocusing the conversation thankfully.

"Thank you for the apology. Well ,you look like you would trip over your feet. Color the both of us surprised." Trinity jokes, earning a pinch in her skin from Victoria

"Liar. Ok maybe you're right. I was a bit awkward. Maybe that's why that guy left." Victoria winces, obviously still reeling from the subtle rejection. Trinity can't really blame her; her can't say that she herself had reacted all too well with rejection either.

"I find that your awkardness is apart of your charm." Trinity says with a wink, making Victoria chuckle under her breath and look down at her feet.

"Shut up. Maybe you're right though, since you were so transfixed with my dancing." Victoria is going to hold that against her from now on, isn't she?

"Mmh, I don't remember saying that. I said you were good." She knows good and well that it was true though because she didn't even notice how much time had passed until Dennis had come and tapped her on the shoulder.

"You didn't have to. I felt you staring at me, even if I didn't know it was you." Her voice lowers as her hands settle on Trinity's neck. It's kind of awkward becasue the music doesn't call for the closeness at all, but Trinity isn't complaining.

"I didn't know it was you either, for the record. I don't know, you just drew me in." Trinity shrugs, probably admitting more than she should.

"What, my uncoordinated moves had you hypnotized?" Victoria huffs in amusement. Can she take a compliment?

"No, I don't know, you looked so... sad. In like a beautiful way. Couldn't stop looking if I wanted to." It's as if the more sober she gets, the more she can feel Victoria's skin beneath her fingers, the more the truth spills out of her.

"I guess I was sad. About something, I don't know. I came out to forget about it and it was the only thing I thought about." Victoria sighs in defeat, her hands catching the ends of Trinity's hair, making her tense up a little.

"You and me both." Trinity smiles solemnly at them being in the same boat.

"You know, I've never slow danced before, so this is nice." Victoria hums as she notices how they sway in sync.

"This really doesn't count; the music's all wrong. And never, like even at a school dance?" Trinity finds that hard to imagine. Who wouldn't want to dance with Victoria?

"Not like I could anyway." Victoria shrugs, waiting for Trinity to catch onto the very important detail of her childhood she seems to be forgetting.

"Right, child prodigy at 12. Forgot about that." Trinity will blame that lapse in thought on the alcohol.

"Please don't remind me. That's what I came to forget about. You know, I just missed so much. I feel like I'm behind or ahead, maybe both." Victoria lets out a laugh, though no humor is attached to it.

"Well we're gonna get you caught up the. I'll be right back, don't find another dance partner." Trinity lets her hand slowly from her waist and points her hand back in the vague direction she's going to let Victoria know she's coming back.

"Where are you going?" Victoria throws her hands up in confusion as she watches Trinity maneuver herself through the crowd.

"Just sit tight and look pretty." Trinity isn't sure she can hear her but she'll take the eye roll she gets as a response. She just hopes the wrong person doesn't think she's talking to them.

"Thanks I was doing that anyway." Dennis smiles after Trinity bumps into him. Well, the wrong person definitely heard.

"No offense, not my type Huckleberry. I was talking to my date if you must know." Trinity says with pride as she cross her arms

"Oh you have a date now? So you do like Victoria?" Dennis questions with a knowing smirk on his face, as if he's waiting for Trinity to admit that he was right.

"I didn't say it was Crash." Trinity scoffs, the pink of her cheeks probably giving her away anyhow. She hopes the lighting could cover her ass, even just a little.

"Right, it's kind of hard to miss you guys flirting with each other." Dennis laughs at her commitment to keep the obvious unknown.

"We're weren't flirting. Ok, maybe we were. We won't be anymore if you don't let me go though." Trinity admits with a roll of her eyes, her foot tapping in impatience.

"I'm not holding you up." His hands go up in surrender, moving to the side to get out od her way.

"You definitely are. You're like, in interrogating parent mode. I can feel it in your eyes." Trinity gestures her hand in front of his face, making him lean away.

"You seem like you're stalling. Go." Dennis shoos her away before she can chicken out, which she was definitely considering doing so.

"Alright, alright. I'm going. I'll fill you in since you're so nosey." Trinity gives into his subtle pushing, continuing her seemingly hard fought journey to get to the dj. She's already collided with way more people than she wanted to.

It was way harder and took way longer than she wanted. She hopes Victoria didn't think she just abandoned her. What, is everyone miserable or something tonight?

"Hey, can you play me something slow?" Trinity hopes he can hear her. The frown on his face certainly lets her know that he does. Looks like someone doesnt take request. Everyone here is moving like someone pissed in their drink or something.

"Come on, it's important. I'll tip you or something." That's all it takes to get him to slide his headphones off to listen to what she has to say. Asshole, as if Trinity doesn't already get enough of her money drained from her possession.

"I got you." Yeah for some extra cash. Trinity guesses she can't really blame him. She, too, would hustle someone.

At least he keeps his promise. Trinity finds the hassle worth it as she hears the beginning of a slow song start playing through the speakers. She can already feel the romance floating through the room, the vibe shifting quickly among the crowd. The subdued strum of the guitar makes Trinity feel like she's only other person in room along with Victoria.

Trinity finds Victoria's find her eyes and soften as she approaches her. She's as nervous she was when she was first approaching her. Trinity gulps nervously as Victoria's eyes continue to follow her as qalks towards her. Trinity wipes her sweaty hands against her pants as she stops in front of Victoria.

"I consider it a crime to never have slow danced before so we're fixing that now. Not like I'm forcing or anything. I just find that really depressing and-" Trinity's self pep talk didn't do much because here she is rambling in front of Victoria. She didn't need it to do much actually, because Victoria cuts her off with a kiss.

Victoria seemingly couldn't find the right words to say, that's what Trinity is assuming anyway. At what the kiss feels like. She was a little too focused on staring at her feet in an effort not to trip and embarrass herself on the way back over here. She only becomes aware of herself and her own skin when Victoria's lips touch hers.

It's more of a chaste kiss than anything. Trinity takes a second to realize that Victoria kissed her before she can reciprocate. Victoria presses her lips in a nervous manner, frantic almost, doing so before she can regret her actions.

Trinity plants her hands on either sides of Victoria's hips as she pushes herself up to kiss Trinity. It feels like a spur of the moment thing, something that Victoria let her emotions drive. And yet it doesn't feel like something Victoria regrets even though she pulls away rather frantically. It's filled gratitude she can't express in words.

"Sorry, I don't know why I did that." Victoria ducks her head once she pulls away from Trinity, who is starstruck herself.

"I didn't mind." Trinity breathes out as if she just brings herself out of a trance. She just kissed her. Victoria just kissed her and she's apologizing. She can't have that.

"You didn't?" Victoria looks up nervously, as if Trinity would push her away or something.

"I'd rate it 6, only becasue it didn't last longer." Trinity smiles, joking, not really though, to ease the tension in Victoria's shoulders.

"Shut up. I guess that isn't that bad for a first kiss." Victoria admits bashfully. Not bad at all. Good enough that Trinity lifts her fingers up to press against her lips, chasing the feeling of warmth Victoria had left behind. She selfishly wants more, or maybe not. Victoria is looking at her like she wants to kiss her again.

"First kiss? Warn a girl next time Crash. I would've gotten you flowers or something if I knew." Trinity groans in disappointment with herself, scratching her neck at the fact that she just said that out loud. It's true though; Victoria deserved a more romantic first than that.

"You doing this is enough. You didn't have to, you know." The way she's looking up at her with so much gratitude is telling her thag she definitely did.

"No big deal, like I said, it's a crime." Trinity shrugs as if she would've done this for just anyone. She's pretty Victoria has caught on to fact that she isn't just anyone.

"Well, can we dance then before it's over?" Victoria rocks on her feet impatiently, looking up at Trinity with pleading eyes.

"Don't act too excited Crash." Trinity mocks as if she isn't as eager to dance.

"You're the one making a big deal out of it. That's not my fault." Victoria scoffs as pulls Trinity's hands up on her waist, a little higher than it had been, while placing her own hands on Trinity's shoulders.

"See, you already know the basics. I'm surprised youre not a total lost cause." Trinity jabs at her again, trying to distract herself from the fact that her hands feel abnormally sweaty as they rest on Victoria's bare skin.

"I am a genius, you know." Victoria smirks up her, using Trinity's own words against.

"I should've never admitted that." Trinity huffs out with a roll of her eyes, hands pulling her in closer. She would soon find out that was a mistake once Victoria speaks again.

"I already knew. It does sound better coming from you though." Since did Victoria have the ability to render her speechless? Wherever it came from, she's impressed.

"Stop flirting with me, you're making me flustered." Trinity only admits it becasue there is no longer a reason to save face. Plus, it's easier to say now that Victoria cant look at her. She leaned in to rest her head on Trinity's shoulder, her breath hitting her neck. Trinity might've underestimated how hard it was to keep her thoughts regulated.

"What have you done with Trinity Santos because she never admits anything." Trinity can feel the vibration of her laugh spread throughout her chest. The proximity, feeling every little thing as they sway in unison, is making her head spin.

"I blame the bartender. My judgment is a little impaired." Playing it cool is really difficult for her right now, especially with Victoria's fingers drawing circles on her skin.

"Well maybe someone should take you home then. Being alone with your... bag judgement isn't safe." Does that mean what she think it means? It definitely sounded like it. Her heart is surely taking it as such; the rapid beating of it makes Trinity hope that Victoria can't hear it.

"Yeah maybe they should. And maybe they should try that kissing thing again. You know, trial and error is a good way to practice." Please say yes, please say yes. Trinity thankfully still has enough dignity to not beg out loud.

"Sounds plausible enough." Victoria hums against her, as if she didn't just make her heart beat out of her chest.

"Cool." Trinity is anything but cool now. She's sure Victoria can feel her skin burning up, but she's still going to act like she is.

She is totally normal about the idea of Victoria being in her place. She's the most normal anyone can be.

She should make Dennis say yes to going out more often. If he hadn't, who knows where Trinity would be rotting away at. At least now, she won't have to do it alone.
