Work Text:

Pedri does not have a crush on Spiderman. So what? He follows a couple more Spiderman fan accounts than the average guy, turned notifications on for SpideyTracker, and has saved over a hundred edits of the vigilante.

Okay, he may have an itty-bitty crush on Spiderman.

He just hopes that his boyfriend, Lucas, can’t tell. The man makes enough quips about Pedri’s job (a male nurse, really?) and he doesn’t need more material.

Tonight, however, Pedri is spared any jabs about his job, his apartment, or his best friend (Lucas did not take a liking to Ferran). Tonight, Lucas is throwing a party in his penthouse apartment in a scheme to win over some very important clients from work, and he needs to impress them, Pedri, please just sit there and look pretty-

Expectedly, being Lucas’ arm candy is mind-numbing work. Pedri’s only just managed to escape another one of Lucas's rants, this one about Madre Mia!, the new hottest club which has everything–bartenders dressed as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a tablet on each table open to an Am I Gay? Quiz, and a man who won’t stop offering you his vape.

Pedri feels he’s earned a break, so he heads to the open bar. He’s slumped over the counter with a Diet Coke in hand when a bright green light suddenly flashes through the windows across from him. He quickly ducks as a huge object flies past, accompanied by the loud crash of breaking glass.

He blinks rapidly and looks back blearily until he sees a large troll-like monster lying beneath several flower centrepieces.

Oh, those things cost a fortune, Pedri thinks. Lucas is going to be pissed.

He’s so preoccupied with the thought of dealing with Lucas’ inevitable tantrum that he overlooks everyone running to exit and a certain vigilante swinging through the troll-shaped hole in the window.

“You couldn’t have picked a less fancy party to crash, man?” Spiderman says, landing on one of the few remaining tables. “I’m feeling a bit underdressed here.”

Spiderman tilts his head to the side, then, as if on instinct, ducks down to where Pedri is hiding behind the bar stools. “We have got to stop meeting like this. Anyway, I suggest you run because-,”

He’s cut off when the troll lunges for him, swinging a nail-covered club. Spiderman narrowly dodges, jumping back and sticking to the wall.

“Tch, I was in the middle of a conversation!” He says, unsticking a hand to wave a web-covered finger at the troll.

It seems like entirely the wrong thing to say, as the trolls' attention shifts to Pedri. He advances towards him with heavy, lumbering steps, raising his club higher. Pedri scans for something to hide behind, but it’s no use; the troll destroyed every sturdy structure it smashed into. He tries to back away, but the troll's strides are larger than Pedri's body. By the time Pedri reaches the bar's corner, the troll is looming over him.

This is shaping up to be one of Lucas’ worst parties, even more so than the time his coworker got drunk and kept flirting with Pedri in front of his wife. Pedri’s heart pounds in his ears, drowning out the troll’s rough growls as it swings its arm back and its club lurches down. He braces for the impact, but it never comes. Instead, a crack echoes through the air as a web pulls the club back and flings it across the room. Spiderman leaps for the troll, clinging to its back, and they both stumble away from Pedri.

Pedri’s relief at that is brief as the troll grabs Spiderman off its back and throws him to the floor. Spiderman struggles in the tight grasp, dodging a series of poorly aimed punches before one lands squarely on his chest. He hunches in pain, and the troll sees its chance to strike again, raising its fists to smash through Spiderman, but he catches them just in time.

Now, Pedri has watched Spiderman's muscles flex in plenty of black-and-white edits, but he’s also seen enough of this troll to realize that Spiderman isn’t going to last for much longer. Spotting the club in his peripheral vision, he swallows his fear and crawls toward it. Though it weighs three times as much as Pedri, he drags it over to the pair and uses his whole body to lift it a couple of feet above the troll's head. For a moment, he makes eye contact with Spiderman, who seems to shake his head, but Pedri simply winks at him before thrashing the club over the troll's head.

The effect is immediate and…unexpected. The troll freezes over Spiderman, goes limp, and then starts to melt into a green slime. The slime slides over the broken tables and shards of glass, then escapes out the shattered windows.

“Did I kill it?” Pedri asks, horrified at what he’s just seen.

“Unfortunately, no.” Spiderman grimaces, standing back up. “That was a shapeshifter's original form, but you can’t get rid of them that easily.”

“I guess I owe you another thanks for saving my life back there,” he huffs out, laughing.

“Well, you saved mine first,” Pedri says, “so I guess that makes us even.”

Spiderman hums, then says, “You’re right, but I also owe you something else."

Pedri tries to remember if he’s forgetting anything, but comes up blank. Eyebrows furrowed, he asks, “What do you mean?”

“A kiss.”

Pedri whips his head up so fast, you’d think he had superpowers, too. He stares up at Spiderman, whose body is lingering dangerously close, and he swears his heart is beating faster than it did when he thought he was going to get clubbed to death by a troll. Then he notices the slight shake in Spiderman’s shoulder, and soon enough the vigilante doubles over with laughter until the pain in his chest catches up, making him straighten up and cough.

“Yeah, laugh it up. Don’t forget I just saved your ass, Spidey.” Pedri mutters, willing himself not to blush. He’s already embarrassed by his own eagerness; he would positively die if Spiderman noticed how desperate he was.

“Aw, you’ve already got a nickname for me! I didn’t even catch your name.”

Right. Just another bitter reminder that Pedri is obsessed with the guy, and he doesn’t even know his name. “I didn’t tell you, and now I’m never going to.” Pedri scoffs, wrapping his arms around himself.

“That’s alright, I know just what to call you.” Spiderman leans closer until their noses nearly touch, until Pedri can just about make out a pair of eyes behind the mesh of his suit.

Despite all the voices in his head screaming at him not to, Pedri asks, “What?”

Spiderman smiles, the eyes of his mask crinkling into half-moons. “Mine.”

Pedri’s first reaction is to shove the vigilante, and then, realizing the man is built like a brick wall, he shoves him again, this time with much more force, successfully making him stumble back, all while cackling the whole time. God, Pedri really needs to learn how to flirt.

Thankfully, Pedri’s humiliating moment of speechlessness is short-lived because the doors burst open and suddenly, he’s engulfed in a satin shirt and musky cologne.

“God, Pedri, you had no idea how worried I was about you!,” Lucas pulls away, holding his arms tightly.

For a moment of bliss, Pedri almost forgot he's dating this asshole. He rolls his eyes. “Worried? You practically abandoned me!”

“Well, baby, I just thought that you would be a lot more helpful in this situation. I’m sure you’re used to this kind of chaos at the hospital, but I don’t exactly thrive in it.”

“You think I deal with trolls at the hospital,” Pedri says tonelessly, keeping a straight face.

Lucas nods brightly, happy that they can finally come to a reasonable conclusion.

“The only troll I put up with is you, Lucas!” Pedri pushes past him, ignoring his whiny calls, and heads to the elevator.

Though he probably should take the stairs given the emergency, he’s too exhausted, the day's events weighing on him. He sighs, watching the bright red numbers change one by one. He knows he should sit down with Lucas soon, but he doesn’t think it'll matter much; Lucas barely acknowledged him when they were together. Pedri doubts he’ll care if he’s gone. And then there's the whole Spiderman incident—

Hold on. Where did Spiderman go?

The elevator doors open with a loud ding! When the doors part, he’s met by warm, familiar hazel eyes.

“Pedri!” Ferran pulls him out before the doors nearly close again. “I saw what happened on the news, and you were talking about some party at Lucas’, and I just had to make sure you were okay, are you hurt-”

He places his hands on Pedri’s cheeks, turning his face this way and that to check for bruises. He’s panting, like he just ran all the way here. Just to check up on Pedri. Pedri smacks Ferran’s hands away from his face and practically throws himself into his arms. Ferran, to his credit, doesn’t budge an inch, hugging Pedri back, just as tightly.

“I’m okay,” Pedri mumbles, relaxing into the hold.

“Broke up with Lucas, though.”

“Oh, uhm, it’ll be alright,” Ferran clears his throat, patting Pedri’s back in short, slow taps.

Pedri laughs at his stiff reaction, nuzzling his face further into Ferran’s hoodie. He feels the warmth seeping from Ferran’s body, a radioactive heat that permeates his bones and settles in his heart. Pedri tilts his head up slightly and presses a kiss to the column of his throat. When he pulls away, there's a burning sensation on his lips.

“Come on, let’s go home so I can tell you the whole story.” Pedri steps back and wraps his arm around Ferran’s instead. “I bet that news report was all bullshit.”

Pedri tugs him forward, but Ferran simply stays in place, smiling down at him with crinkled eyes.

That’s 2-1, Ferran thinks. I have some catching up to do.
