Chapter Text
Peter
My day started regular enough. Webbed up a couple burglars on my way to school and then had a small run in with one of the frightful four. Safe to say I was late. Like I said, regular day in the life of your friendly neighborhood Spidey. Another detention added to the calendar and life went on. Soon school would be out and I’d be free to start patrol.
The cool air sharpens my senses as it flows over me. One thwip after another, I propel myself across the city, my eyes scanning the streets for any sign of trouble. Today has been relatively quiet, but I've learned not to trust anything. Appearances can be deceiving. After an hour of stopping the occasional mugging and shoplifter, I'm ready to pack up and make my way to Stark Industries.
I've just picked up my backpack from where I left it and am about to start swinging again when I feel it: a sharp buzz from my brain that sends a tense shiver down my spine. My Spidey sense has been activated, and it's tingling like mad. Whatever has set it off, it's big and it's dangerous.
Lowering into a protective stance, I scan the surroundings, but there's nothing. I'm alone on top of a flat rooftop, my only company a few pigeons nearby. So unless one of them is a villain in disguise, my tingle is on the fritz. It's not the first time this has happened, high functioning anxiety and all. Loosening my tense stance after a few minutes, I knock a fist against my head.
"Come on, Spidey sense. Don't scare me like that."
I'm already running late to the labs. If I leave now, I can make it.
With a running start, I make a twisting flip off the edge of the building, tumbling through the air before shooting off a web. The web hits a building, latching on and propelling me through the air. I've just shot another when another sharp pain shoots through me again. I'm slamming into a wall before I have time to think 'Peter tingle.'
Through my mask, I can feel the warm trickle of blood running down from my forehead where a brick cut it. Cursing, I pull myself up from the small crater I've created in the brick, latching onto the wall beside it. Shaking the dust from me, I glance around quickly for my attacker. He's no longer hiding, no, now he's heading straight for me! Long black trench coat and greasy long hair, the man looks deranged through a pair of thick red tinted glasses. Oh, and did I mention the arms? Now usually my villains of the week have the usual two arms, not this guy. He's got an extra four! Why he needs so many I'm not sure, but they probably come in handy crushing spiders. The arms are big, long, and metal with sharp, clenching claws on the ends.
One of the arms darts ahead quickly, quicker than my spidey sense. Before I can blink, a claw is wrapped around my throat. Gee, thanks for the warning, spider sense. With my air being cut off, I have to act fast. Seconds later, the man's body catches up with his arm. I take the opportunity to propel off of him, kicking him away and breaking the hold he has on me.
"Sorry, but I don't usually get so close on the first date." I yell, swinging away to a safe distance. "I don't even know your name yet."
"Oh, soon enough everyone will know me." The man growls, chasing after me. "I am the great Doctor Otto Octavius."
"Hmm, too long. Have you considered a nickname?" I ask, leaping over him, twisting around the snapping metal arms. "Maybe something like Doctor Arms, or Mr. Nutjob?"
"How dare you speak to me in such a way! Do you know who I am?"
"I thought we already established that." I shoot a web right in his face and enjoy him gasping as it hits him in his ugly face. "Huh, they're kind of like tentacles... I've got it! Doc Ock!" I throw another web at him, trapping his arms to the wall. "Get it? Ock? Octopus? See I took your name and-"
Doc Ock rips off the webbing from his face, simultaneously freeing his arms with a snap. "That's not my name!" he yells, flying towards me with new rage.
"Sheesh, just trying to help. I think it's catchy." I leap over his head again. "Now what's your spiel, Doc? World domination? Revenge?"
"I want you, Spider-Man." Ock growls, sending another arm towards me.
"If you wanted an autograph; all you had to do was ask." I grunt as one of the metal contraptions catches my leg. It pulls it out from under me, dangling me by the foot in front of the doctor. The action causes my backpack to slip off my shoulders, tumbling down, down, down, before crashing to the ground. There goes my snacks.
"You misunderstand. I'm going to take you apart piece by piece."
"Sounds fun, unfortunately I've got a full schedule. How about I pencil you in for next never?"
"You can joke all you want. It makes no difference to me. Soon, you won't be able to make a sound."
"And deprive the world of this voice? Now that's going too far." Swinging myself up, I grab the tentacle holding my leg and squeeze hard. With a crunch, the metal bends under my strength. I'm just prying it off when Doc Ock lets out a yell. My spider-sense tingles, but it's too late. Before I can wrench off the last of the metal, it sparks between my fingers as hundreds of volts of electricity run through me.
Groaning, I go limp, still swinging by my foot.
"You put up a valiant effort, but you were never a match for me." Doc is inches away from my face, so close I can feel his breath on me through my mask.
"Two words:" My words are soft and slurred from the shock. "Brush teeth."
There's a sharp pain in my neck, and then it's gone. Next to me, I see a tentacle moving away, an empty syringe in its grasp. I struggle in the metallic grip. I can feel myself fading fast.
"What did you do to me? What did you inject me with?" I cry, my struggling useless. "I already got all my flue shots."
"Don't worry. It's only to knock you out." Ock tells me. As he speaks, his words seem further and further away. Blackness creeps over my vision. "Enjoy your rest now, Spider-Man. When you wake, you'll wish you hadn't."
