Chapter Text
Wemmbu — well, Wemmbu wasn’t born yesterday. He knows that Spoke won’t let him go, and he definitely knows that Spoke won’t allow him, them, to leave unharmed. That’s why Jaden is standing up in the castle, that’s why he’s not worried.
Spoke certainly doesn’t look worried either, he notices, not even when Jaden jumps down and kills one of his little Null players. He just rolls his eyes and sighs — as if he expected this; which he should. Spoke has been on this server maybe even longer than he has, he should know by now that there’s no dirty tricks other Unstable players won’t pull.
He doesn’t look pissed, though. Which is a red flag. Means he has something else in mind. Wemmbu steps forward as Egg steps back — mace ready. He’s not scared of a fight, especially not with Minute and Jaden at his side.
Spoke whispers something to the guy at his side; the one with the white trims. The Null take a few steps back and Wemmbu starts to get…a little worried. He’s not good with mind games, he was expecting to fight an army, not listen to Spoke yap more.
“Wemmbu, Wemmbu…You know, I really thought we could avoid this. And, really! If it was just you and Jaden, we would’ve!” Spoke grins, and Wemmbu’s shields rise up. He wants to fly up and mace this kid already, but for some reason, he’s stuck to the ground, hackles raised.
“But working with Minute, with our good old friend Minutetech here, is a big no-no for me! And, I want you to know, this would’ve been really, really, easier if you had just listened to me.” Wemmbu rolls his eyes — okay, this kid is obviously talking out of his ass.
“Bro, Spoke, just say you’re stalling, what’re you gonna do, huh?” Wemmbu crosses his arms; Spoke has never been big on PVP and with his little exploits gone, it’s obvious all he has is his army. And Wemmbu’s taken down armies before.
Spoke raises up one hand, a signal for war Wemmbu guesses; his fingers take the shape of a gun and with a loud “Pew!” he shoots.
Eggchan was killed.
Eggchan has left the game.
Spoke giggles as Wemmbu slowly turns around, turns around and sees the remains of Egg’s inventory in the ground, his armor, his books, his blocks, his chungie items and—he’s…frozen. He has no idea what to do. He’d thought he’d be angry, if Egg ever got banned. But no, it’s just a bone deep fear and a loud ringing in his ears.
Minute and Jaden are trying to talk to him, but he’s not really hearing them, gaze locking in on Egg’s…remains. “Wemmbu.” Spoke says, and for some reason, Wemmbu can hear him. “Just like I killed him at a snap of a finger, I can bring him back.”
Wemmbu hangs on to those words like a lifeline, lunging at Spoke, grabbing him by the collars as Spoke gestures for Null to not intervene. There’s still that stupid smirk on his face, and Wemmbu wants to wipe it away. “Bring him back, bring him back or I swear to God, Spoke, when I’m done with you—”
Spoke laughs, chuckles, really, “What will you do, Wemmbu? Huh? Ban me? Torture me? None of those things will really give me the motivation to bring him back!” Wemmbu’s hands are shaking and he’s glaring so hard he feels tears gather in his eyes.
“Wemmbu—He’s lying, there’s no way he could—” He can hear Minute’s voice behind him but Spoke said he could, and he’ll take the chance of Egg being able to come back to life then believe in Minute, who got him and Egg into this mess in the first place.
Spoke pouts, “Really, you should trust me more Minute! I’ve never lied! But, hey, I’ll humor you!” Spoke’s voice is still so bubbly, like he didn’t just take Wemmbu’s morals away. “Let me go, Wemmbu.” His voice gets colder at the command; and Wemmbu doesn’t know why but…he lets go.
Spoke gives him a condescending grin and walks further into the Null as his soldiers circle him. Wemmbu watches him, watches as he brings his arm up again, this time opening his palm; and a bright light flows through it as—
Eggchan joined the server.
Wemmbu’s breath catches in his throat as Eggchan comes into his view and he can't help but run to him; tripping and stumbling the whole way. Egg is disoriented, holding his head and groaning. He doesn’t register Minute and Jaden’s surprised expressions behind him as he takes a hold of Egg’s face, checking for injuries.
Spoke walks behind him, placing a surprisingly gentle hand on his shoulder, “And before you get comfortable, Wemmy, I can ban him just as easily again. This isn’t like, an ender pearl glitch, my friend. It’s just my power.” Wemmbu swallows. His hands are still shaking. Egg is shaking. Egg looks at him and gives him a “yo we might need to join this guy” stare.
“So, I’d really, really be confident in your decision to stand by Minute.” Spoke twirls around, and the army blocks him off. Him and Egg are trapped in a Null circle, and Wemmbu, for the first time in a while, feels powerless.
“Yo, I dunno about you, but I’m all up for joining this guy.” Egg eats the Golden Apple Wemmbu had shoved him in a panic and Wemmbu just…nods. What the hell do you do against a guy who can insta-kill people? In fact, why the hell hasn’t he just insta-killed Minute?
Is it because of some weird sentimentality? Is it because they used to be friends? Well. It doesn’t really matter in the end. Wemmbu picks up his mace and slowly walks out the circle towards Spoke, who’s conserving with Jaden and Minute.
“Yeah. I guess I’ll join your side bro.” He says, with more nausea than he feels. Spoke just loops an arm around his neck and giggles, shaking him a little. Wemmbu just wants to punch the little fucker off, but he doesn’t think that’d be taken kindly.
Wemmbu looks at Minute and Jaden, wants to convey that he’s sorry; to Jaden especially, for dragging him into this and changing sides, that he doesn’t really have a choice—Especially not if Spoke’s gonna make him fight Minute and Jaden.
“So…Like, what happens now?”
Spoke looks at him, then looks at Minute and Jaden, and tilts his head, “Oh, don’t worry, Wemmy! I’m not gonna make you fight your good friends! They can go on their merry way! We have so much more important things to talk about, and, well, this was never about making you betray anyone! In fact, I’d rather avoid that. Makes it hard for the viewers to like me, you see.”
All Wemmbu can think of is relief and, wow, this kid talks a lot.
