Summary
An old Amazonian legend tells of the Uirapuru, a bird with a rare and enchanting song, said to bring luck, happiness, and love to those fortunate enough to hear it. Its song is so beautiful that, when it begins to sing, the entire forest seems to fall silent just to listen. It is also said that, before becoming a bird, the Uirapuru was once a warrior who, unable to live beside the woman he loved, was given the form of a bird so that he could sing to her every night.
For a long time, Shane believed he had found his own good fortune. That his love was a promise of a happy life, and that, at last, he had been blessed by the song of the Uirapuru. He believed that loving someone meant finding his place in the world, even as that love slowly began to turn into fear.
When the reality behind his relationship becomes impossible to ignore, Shane must flee not only from what has hurt him, but from the life he once believed he was meant to accept. Alongside his daughter, he will have to rebuild his own story while learning the difference between loving someone and being loved by someone.
