Work Text:
Luz and Amity sat under the grom tree, looking out over the boiling sea.
Amity sat up, watching the waves with a fascinated expression. Luz smiled, then blushed, looking away. Amity frowned.
“Are you alright, Luz?”
“Y-yeah,” Luz said, smiling faintly. “Just thinking.”
Amity tensed. “It’s not your heart, is it? You can tell me if something is wrong, you know.”
Luz laughed quietly. “I promise I’m fine, batata. Just nervous about how I should do this.”
Amity’s eyebrows raised. “Do what?”
Luz pushed herself up, putting one foot up and kneeling with the other. Amity gasped as Luz reached into her pocket, taking out a ring box.
“Amity Blight,” Luz began. “I was trying to think of some super smooth, cool way to ask you this, but I literally can’t wait another minute.”
Amity stared.
“You’ve always been here for me, even when I really didn’t deserve it, and I want to spend my life with you, and be together forever.
“I don’t know what our future holds,” Luz said. “But like we’ve always said, it would be so cool if you were in it. So… Would you do me the honour of marrying me?”
Amity stared at her, hands over her mouth.
“Amity?” Luz asked nervously.
Amity flung herself into Luz’s arms. “Of course I’ll marry you, you dork! I want to spend my forever seeing you every time I wake up and every time I go to bed, and I never want to live a day without you!”
Luz laughed, sitting down. And wrapping her arms around Amity.
“Te amo.”
“Te amo tambien, batata.”
